  • this is incredible...I feel like I just bought my trombone and started blowing on the mouthpiece after watching.

  • 0:58, the Db to E is incredible

  • so glad i had the chance to me Tom Bratley 2 years ago, i wish i could have went to USF but too much money even though i did great on my audition there :(

  • Powerful.

  • Go Tom!

  • That is absolutely the best rendition EVER!

Oh, and great playing too... congrats!

Now... any idea where I can buy that arrangement? ;-)

  • Woo hoo for trombones!

  • could u please get rid of their liked comments

im tired of seeing them every time i get on here...........

  • first guy has a yamaha 882O!!!

  • Its like the beginning makes u think, huh, multiphonics? no, just strange chordings.

then, they go all strange chords in the 2nd part, making it en epic anthem, even tho im not american. I love it!

  • @foxxiej It's because the world loves trombones. : )

  • oh my god. what an amazing sound that they can get out of those horns. this is just beautiful. I love the arrangement too. very well done.

  • I'm a trumpet player, and I think that was amazing.

  • The bass line is the most important part of the band.

  • The final section gave me chills.

  • damn these guys play really well together. not very often you get to see a group that large that plays that in tune with each other.

  • EPIC!!!!!

  • Stand up proud.. TROMBONES WOOT WOOT

  • Best rendition of the anthem I've heard...really got me close to tears.

  • im an alto boner and that made me laugh

  • very nice! absolutely great!

  • @MrCardkin well if u think trumpets better then y r u watching trombone videos huh?

  • That.Sounded.Amazing!

  • trumpets better

  • If you dont play the trombone, im sorry. You get to press buttons and have no fun at all =( But we trombones get to movie our arms and have lots of fun and arnt just sitting there doing nothing.

    P.S: you also have aids

  • JMU bones would hand it to them.

  • That's an awesome arrangement!

  • figures they zoom in on the dude with the jew fro... haha I SEE GERARD TOO! :)

  • quite possibly the most powerful piece of music I have ever heard

  • omg. i tom brantley came to my school and played a gig with our jazz band. i sat right next to him. thats such a freakin coincidence that i found this video

  • T.T < is what my face looks like

  • wonderful

  • That was one of the most beautiful pedal Eb's I've ever heard at the end! :). Very nice job everyone else. I'm going to USF to study with Robert McCormick on percussion. But, I want to talk to Tom about being in the Trombone choir. Because, bass trombone and tuba are my secondary instruments.

  • YOUR GIVIN' ME CHILLS!

  • that long trombone note at the beggining is fruity beacause it reminds me of a bagpipe

  • BEAUTFULL

    i CANT EVEN SPELL NOW

  • OMFG!!! I swear I almost nutt on this song.

  • Really nice arrangement and great sound.

  • OMG.. GOOSEBUMBS!

  • what are the notes?

  • figure em out, you can see the positions...

  • bravo.

  • awesome

  • that guy directed awesome... great gob guys!

  • man, power chord at the end, my pulse was racing, wonderful

  • there's a slightly different version by the same choir at a daytime game played with the tampa bay bucaneers. it featured a flyover by some jet squad from germany. youtubers should check this one out as well. like i said, it was slightly different with even more dramatic chords. this version works well too. i agree that the bass trombone petal at 1 min 30 sec. is killer.

  • this was one of the best versions of this piece i've ever heard, and i'm not just saying that because i'm a trombone player :D

the bass note at about 1:30 gave me chills

  • i know right? oh my goodness. Bass trombonists for the win.

  • This sounds great.

  • Awesome

  • Oooooohh!! CHILLS!!!

  • I love the big brassy sound of this trombone chior so thanks for posting. By the way, does anyone know how to get this arrangement? I can't find it.

  • Too often composers slip into the rut of writing mediocre arrangements & compositions. When you feel the emotion of the composer, and he can turn love into an A flat major chord, then you have something worth the human ear. Here is that music.

  • nice gerard... at the end, making The Cadets proud... good mojo

  • haha. Love the bass at 1:30!

  • Wow im not a huge Trombone fan but that was amazing!

  • looks like somebody had a little too much fun completely changing the modes of the piece...

  • Moving.... Even though I'm not an American.

  • anyone happen to have any arrangement of this piece. It is amazing.

  • That gave me the chills!

  • Me too!!!

  • not to belittle this version, but treat yourself to the u.s.f. reditition of the national anthem by the u.f trombone choir beore the game at the usf and buckaneer game during the daytime show. .......................................

  • Fantastic harmony, good job boys.

  • very well played who wrote this arrangement

  • This arrangement is by Roderick A Harkins. It was written for the University of Southern Mississippi Trombone Choir under Dr Marta Hofacre. It is based on settings for band by George Naff and Marvin Branson

  • @picard9888 Rod Harkins was my college band director at U of Oregon. What a bad ass.

  • haha the jack stamp arrangement of the star spangled comes up everywhere...if it not in its entirety then parts of it haha.

  • yes!!!

  • I think it's in Eb. Just by looking at positions and stuff. I would LOVE to have this arrangement.

  • Very good - that announcer should he sbot for asking people to sing. Amateurs ruin the experience. Just watch any of the so-called stars sing, taking liberties with every note they can lay their lungs on! Excellent

  • Downright awesome pretty much sums it up

  • yah this is just pain epic.

  • Wow, I love it!

  • beast!

  • i play trom i hope i can play that someday

very good although there was some loud blasting but who am i to judge:)

  • this is an amazing arrangement for trombones. do u happen to have the music parts to this?

  • anyone want chat?

  • This has to be my favorite arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner, ever. It just grows the whole time and the trombone sound is amazing for it.

It has a lot of emotion in it. Its beautiful.

I wish I could find the arrangement somewhere.

  • amazing

  • best instrument ever=trombone

sorry to all the other people who dont play trombone, but it's true

  • @NammaN6 Amazing instrument, simple looking, incredibly challenging to play, and both beautiful and bold once mastered.

  • @NammaN6

I play drombone and tuba, and i just gotta say, tuba's better. The trombone has the euphonium beat, but not the tuba. :P

  • @NammaN6 tuba*

  • I listened to this last night at the trop (rays vs. angels), and it sounded so epic inside the stadium. This video doesn't do them justice.

  • That was so beautiful....I actually cried

  • WOW!!! Wonderful arrangement, that was cool

  • Beautiful job. There was no showing off like many feel they need to do when performing the National Anthem. Solid playing, solid arrangement, and a joy to listen to.

  • Wonderful...

  • I can play this on the trombone :D

    Long Live the United States

    // Swedish friend of USA

  • sounds beautiful. I once got a chance to learn this, yet i missed that. I really pity that...

  • yay! i want us trombone players at my school to do this!!!

  • can some one plz email me this music sheet? plz?

  • The Jack Stamp arrangement for wind ensemble (which this was practially identical to chord for chord) is available, I do believe, on Kjos Music.

  • Sounds oddly like the Jack Stamp arrangement for wind ensemble. Solid performance.

  • That's what i was thinking as well...but it sounds like 5x better for Trombones!

  • Good show!

  • Trombones were meant for this kind of attention

  • trombones were meant to do anything.

  • True dat brother

  • That bass bone player has some serious tone. Fucking awesome.

  • i've been playing trombone for 9 years and can only hope my tone will someday sound like that. great job guys!

  • Beautiful

  • AWESOME JOB GUYS!!!
