  • lol i was taught to play this song the exact same way XD

  • Do you do an entire strum for each one? So Dduud On G twice, then Dduud C9 Dduud D? Or what. Sorry if this is in the video already and I didn't catch it, i'm getting guitar lessons soon... Hopefully :) And for some reason My guitar doesn't sound right, it has a high pitch but i think a low tune when i strum on D, the rest is fine (For intro, haven't tried after.)

  • @milint33w for the c9: middle finger 6th string, 3rd key

index finger 5th string, 2nd key

ring finger 2nd string, 3rd key

    pinkie 1st string, 3rd key

  • @hollywood1610 thanks. I just realized Im not getting notifications of replies on youtube.

  • i cant do that thumb thingy my hands are too small is there anything else i can do to mute it ?

  • I'm gonna have to see if i can find a songbook for all the songs i wanna learn. there are so many variations of all the different chords. im getting confused. it like is it C, C9,Cadd9???what IS it!?!?!?

  • Hey man, if you wanna learn the differces I'd reccomend getting a Chord Book or a poster with some chords on 'em. The idea behind the different chords are to put some variation in the sound of a song!

  • thanks man all i needed was the Em D C G and you taught it perfect

  • /watch?v=VW38knzVtoQ

  • How come nobody teaches the picking part of the song? That's the only part I need...

  • @Raneyboy you move your hand up and down. you're welcome

  • @727DropA ahahahaha!! ... sorry just had too xD

  • IS HE MARRIED TO REBA??!!!!??

  • whatts the strumming patternn like (example) dduudu???

  • whatts the strumming patternn like (example) dduudu????

  • im having the hardest time trying to hit the C9 chord. any suggestions?

  • @TheClaw031 Same here. I'm getting so frustrated! None of the variations I've tried have worked.

  • @TheClaw031 well. umm .. im not expert or pro at guitar but..u cud just do c9 and D again and again..hope dat helps..: /

  • @TheClaw031

You probably figured this out by now but as he said, do a G chord like he does(I belive he is pressing the 2 bottom strings A and E, instead of one. this atleast helps alot with that chord) and move your 2 upper fingers down 1 string each. Hope this helped and didn`t make you more confused.

  • thank you :)

  • u rock

  • kids? KIds? What yard sale did you get the cool record frames at?

  • @elknrut Ha! Funny! You'll have to ask my wife...she won the awards!

  • @yourguitarsage Who is your wife, those look like some major accomplishments......

  • @yourguitarsage who's ur wife

  • @yourguitarsage SWEET YOURE MARRIED :D

  • @yourguitarsage whos your wife?

  • @yourguitarsage Are your kids good guitar players?

  • kids? KIds?

  • where are u looking at?

  • nice vid, nice guitar to!

  • @nkbigdaddy Well maybe he's just making it easier for us beginners and for people who don't play instruments will be less likely to notice the strumming difference unless you are playing off beat

  • can i become a youtube partner if i do guitar tutorials like this?

  • @asimp20 if u get a big fan base

  • hey man you did good i was wondering if you by chance could do the picking for this song

  • what about plecing this is not the real way exactly watch the video...

  • omg thank you so much this helps alot cuz ive been wanting to learn this song lol

  • i bought a book of songs and it has this song in it...

but it shows me way different cords and stings im supposed to strum

  • @OrangeFrappacchino this is the real way....watch the music video and you can tell

  • hey, i keep trying c9 say you say, but other chord sources tell me to use c. when i use c9 it doesn't sound the like the melody like when you play it. did u derive the notes yourself?btw, i just started learning, so i really dont' know anything, just want to play the song lol

  • i am 22 :@

  • The studio version starts off with arpeggios instead of chords, so it sounds a bit different.

  • @TheAceOfTheCase cuz he has a chart with cords and strumming patterns for all the songs he does

  • Hey Can U Please Make A tutorial of video of james blunt's song Stay the Night??

  • great way to learn it! i already know the whole first part after this one vid!

  • waaatch my cover =D

    /watch?v=VW38knzVtoQ

  • billie joe plays it way different! this guy just strums the whole time

  • @hugeGDfan97 because in the original there are arpeggios which are optional in a song. He is playing it without the arpeggio because as the title says it is for beginners.

  • @TheAceOfTheCase hes looking a a chord chart

  • thankyou thankyou thank you thankyou!!

  • u are the only kid here dude

  • hello children!!!

  • I hope you don't mind me saying, but you look a tiny bit like Ryan Reynolds!

    haha, good tutorial. Thanks man

  • @IMclovin94I He looks like Dane Cook

  • @clst47 hes funnier than Dane Cook.

  • @clst47 hes funnier than Dane Cook. The way I counted the pattern is not G for 2 bars. G lasts for 1 bar, and Cadd9 and D share a bar(2 beats each) . Right?

  • can you write down the strumming rhytm. I feel like its easier if you write down the strumming rhytm!

  • isn't it a Cadd99?

  • This is really, really helpful! Also your videos really helped me find a confidence in guitar:)

  • muy bueno

  • could you possibly do a lesson on Manic? please? i LOVE that song but i can't read tabs...ive tried to learn but i get confused...

  • @xXxRainbowXGurlxXx Well for tabs... you look at the number it says on which string, and that's the note you play... it's pretty simple.

    0

    1

    0

    2

    3

    x

means open first string, first fret on the second string, open third string, second fret on the fourth string, third fret on the fifth string, and a muted sixth string...

  • LOL, nice vid, kinda slow and easy for beginners perhaps not for more advanced learners but its a good vid never the less. I used to search for hours for a good vid like this when I was just starting out. BTW, NICE GUITAR, I HAVE THE SAME MODEL!!!

  • Thnx alot dude.

  • you seriously have the best lesson vids on youtube! do you take song suggestions or do you just make a lesson vid for songs you want to at the time?

  • I can play all this stuff myself but dude, your lessons are really nice

  • It's not a question but a lesson learned in time ;)

  • Is that guitar Takamine ?

  • @agentsword Yes it is

  • Is that guitar Takamine ?

  • thank u very much sir!! :)

  • Thanx for all the help

  • So This Song Got Me Laid, Learning This Song Was The Best Time Investment Ive Ever Had. Thank You.

  • this helped me so much!! thank you!

  • also, what brand of stings do you use?

  • tuning for this song is the standard Eadgbe right? just wondering because i think im doing everything right but it doesnt sound as good as it does when you play it =/

  • @acoustic688 There's two things about this song that creates the special sound, one of which is hitting with the most pressure on the right notes, the other is the correct uppicking hitting the GBE strings (that's the good riddance sound for me)

  • thanks a lot for this :D

  • DUE FINGER PLUCKING WTF NOT STRMMING

  • Im just starting guitar and im getting lessons but can you give me any tips? any tips at all would be very useful

  • i remember my used name but i forgot my password, is there a way you can email me my password or anything like that

  • Goldenarmy10. yes

  • Wait kind of strings do you use? Because mine sounds nothng like that. Then again I may be out of tune

  • So,the strumming pattern is D D U U D U?

  • @Goldenarmy10 yes.

  • @Goldenarmy10 yup

  • i have searched a lot of good riddance guitar lessons on youtube. but you still have the best one :D THX :D:D!

  • perfect video simple and to the point everything i needed and no junk info thanks :)

  • What kind of guitar do you play on this video, it sounds great. How much woul it cost me. Thank you,

  • thanks dude!! i got the whole intro down

  • It's kind of a beginner strumming thingy. :)

I play it differently, but it's just a feeling..

  • Great video...I was trying to figure out that Em for a while, lol...i kept trying E major =P...btw, your strumming pattern, however correct, is missing the string emphasis. you emphasize the lower strings at the beginning of the measure and the higher ones at the end. Everything is right, its just a sound thing, that's all...

    Thanks again =)

  • ahahhahha

  • Dude, i gotta say, i tried to get this song for like 5 hours with my guitar teacher, in real life of course, I got this in 2 hours. I love you, *manhug*

  • can you use the C9 in the chorus bit because thats how i play it. or is it wrong?

  • great lesson bro... i love it.

  • When im playing my guitar vibrates, any idea how to stop it?

  • @mysummertime09 that would sometimes happen to mine, maybe try getting a new guitar pick, a softer one

  • @mysummertime09 it's probably fret buzz theres alot of videos on how to fix it.

  • Based on your video, I understand that the strum is something like DDUUDU, am I right? Thank you for the video by the way! This was my graduation song, and I've always wanted to learn it!

  • איזה פוץ.

  • @tamarked חחחח

  • Hey, i love your version, but for the intro try this tell me what you think (im not a good teacher so bare with me)

In a G shape, 6th string 3rd fret and ring finger on 2nd string 3rd fret pick the strings 6,3,2,3,4,3 for 2 measures, move the ring finger down to 5th string, pick 5,3,2,3,4,3 then make a D shape without the first string and pick 4,3,2,3,4,3

let me know what you think =) thanks again for the vids

  • im confused.

ther is no struming in this song.

just picking threw the whole song.

  • @TheBABYxKANGAROO they start strumming about half way through...

  • @TheBABYxKANGAROO strumming starts about half way through...

  • oh by the way, could you do Run by kings of Leon, want to try and impress a friend...

  • my friend says i take to a guitar like a fish does to water, trouble is i can't quite pick this song up yet and my strumming is oooooh sooooo baaaaad. He is encouraging me though and i am realising I am not so bad after all. Big thanks to you too for the beginner lessons. Wish you could teach me in person as I am useless at learning from videos, can't quite see where the fingers go hehe.

  • loved the lesson, loved the put down, magic

  • stupid that I haven't seen this video earlier :o Then I would have learned it a lot faster as now. But I can play it :D

  • that actually helped a lot, thanks man

  • way better than expertvillage.

  • big respect to you. 'RONG' THATS FUNNY!!! great vids its like your givin' me personal lessons. keep it up

  • Yay now im going to be able to play on expert on guitar hero thanks man (sarcasm that game sucks why play that when you can play real guitar)

  • should pick at the beginning but you still do it justice :)

  • I pick the intro twice then start strumming. If I'm playing with someone else, they pick an I strum (obviously).

  • I actually pick the intro not strum it

  • i tried playng it...it sounds a little different...its standard tuning right??

  • you are the bestest guitar sage!

  • Other than a few minor details like the picking ur pretty good i mean it sounds wonderful but there are a few picking issues is all but other than that good vid man

  • ey man, no disrespect, but i thought the song started out with picking, and really most of the song was nothing but picking? atleast the way i learned it was anyways, but i love the way this sounds and its amazing for people who love to just strum, thanks cant wait to hear back!

  • I love your videos. Thank you so much!

  • great video, simple and clear lesson. Keep up the good work!

  • Helped me learn song quickly. Video breaks things down into simple chords and strumming patterns. Cheers very much.
