There is a lot of food for thought in this video. Some will romain behind to buy lettuce. Lettuce see what happens next. Some products in the refrigerated section are cheesy. I like to milk the dairy section for puns. Some milk jokes only work 2% of the time. The garden supply section is rather seedy. Oil's well that ends well. If you have olive oil where is Popeye?
OOooh that is cheap .99 cents a LB for ginger, here in oahu hawaii its up to like $1.99 a LB in some stores, rip off hawaii. i rather live in canada, I love the winter there.
"Dirty potatoes - good, washed potatoes, evil!": "Vinegar is poison!"; "Making soap is for dummies!"...yadayadayada. SNORE!! People, can we dispense with the trivialities for a whole minute here and get back to the REAL issue: saving money?? BTW: I've watched and favorites-filed this whole series of vids, and plan to share this info with my mom -- THANKS!!! :>D
you dont want washed potatoes, they cost more and they go green if not covered in dirt...I get mine and roll them in the dirt and store them in a brown bag or sack and they last months.
Yes they do...and they don't last long, so that's why I do what I do. If anyone has a problem with it, then I'm the one saving money and not throwing it away in the garbage.
I wish so much we had a store here in arkansas that had produce that looked that good and well wrapped...love the way they package the potatoes and how green and fresh looking those cabbages/lettuce etc look..Im jealous! lol
hi nancy, i love your tips. and i have one for you. when you're buying a prepackaged bag of produce. weigh each bag and pick the one with the highest weight. for instance, in your bag of potatoes, the company cannot chop a potato in half to make 5 pounds. so some bags weigh 5.5 pounds. you get a half a pound of potatoes for free.
yeah I like your stores there also, and mukwah is right, I have a big tin of olive oil but its getting low and now I cant find it..everyone wants to rip people off selling those little bottles so expensively...seems like everybody wants a 5 spot off ya in the stores..cereal here in usa is like 4 dollars a box now..I wont pay that until it goes on sale for half that..potato chips is the same..refuse to pay more for food than i do gasoline for the car, lol..whats the name of that store u are in?
your groceries are so cheap there. here its like things go up when there is a drought, flood or now fire.
so you have unit pricing there. like what you said about the cost per ML. here ALDI has unit pricing its good because you can compare how much say per hundred grams.
I can't wait to catch up on your videos. Finally got a new laptop. Now I need to go do some cheap grocery shopping! Thanks for this line of shopping ... can't believe how cheap some of your prices there are. I expected them to be much higher. Those apples are lots cheaper than mine are right now!
I just got on the computer today after a day of running around and I can't wait to see your shopping videos! Yippee! I get to go shopping with Nancy. I'm so glad that you are doing these because alot of people don't know how to comparison shop and these days, every little bit helps!
Yaaay Nancy ! thanks for shoiwing potatoes in paper bags...they only come in plastic bags here ! Which is crazy because they are exposed to light & turn green which is poisonous & no air circ. No big bags of onions here either. A small bag of apples here is $5 ! This is great fun shopping at Food Basics with you. Price Chopper used to carry an Italian brand of Olive Oil in a giant tin... a gallon & very reasonably priced.
@mukwah1111 When I was in Georgia last winter I found those potatoes in plastic. I was quite confused as to why. Perhaps so they can see exactly what they are buying...in case there were a rotten one in a bag they got once?
I always look forward on your vids Nancy. I love our tips They're awesome!

@bowler8 Potatoes in Canada come in brown paper bags. In the US do they come in clear plastic?

@NancyToday yes, most of our potatos are in clear plastic bags, or you can get your own out of the bin and pay per pound.
