Bluegrass can use electric bass, drums, etc., see New Grass Revival and The Osborne Brothers just to name 2....this is bluegrass, just as Elvis, Little Richard, Led Zeppelin, AC-DC etc. are all Rock n' Roll. You can make spaghetti more than 1 way ;)
Whatever you want to say Fogerty has turned the song in to it was written and originally performed by Bill Monroe per the recording at the top of this thing. So that alone makes it a Bluegrass song originally. Now call this version Country, Rockabilly or whatever...
