  • Song was a big hit in Philla ca 1958. It inspired a group called the Quaker City Boys to record another mummers sounding tune called "Teasin" on the (Philly's) Swan label later that year.

  • I was born and raised in Philly, had this on a 45 and used to play it all the time but lost the record a LONG time ago.... Thank you for posting here! Brings back SO MANY MEMORIES! Funny, I always thought this song was done by the Mummers. Apparently I was wrong. Sounds like out beloved Philladelphia String Band, the Mummers though. :-)

  • My Husband was a member of this band and went on to have his own band called The Martiniques. His stage name was Tommy Dell.

  • I know that I've heard this once before but where, when & how it was I heard it I can't remember. What I like most about this happy uptempled song is the Banjo. What I remember Philly for is that it was the home of American Bandstand back when. All those goody good r&r clasics that came from such artists as Fabian, Frankie Avalon, Freddy Cannon & Bobby Rydell, to name a few, all hailed from Philadelphia Pa. Now we call all the good time r&r, Doowop!. Thx4 postin'!

  • Thank you, I have looked for this song for years. I remembered hearing it in 1958. Was one of my favorites. Thanks again for posting.

  • i have a 45 of this group singing the 'ole mummers strut. it reminds me as a kid in the early 70's, my mom sitting by the tv on new years day back watching the mummers day parade on channel 6 wpvi-tv

  • This one always reminds me of American Bandstand.

  • Thank you for posting this !! I picked up the 45 at a flea market over the summer and absolutely love it. Long live Philadelphia!
