  • i'm fifteen and i so wished i lived during this time

  • We as people should shun those who curse in public. I am glad young people are listening to this music ... And, I object to them being sworn at, for no other reason than, they stated their ages. We, should defend and protect them from the likes of "fishstickjoe" and, the other one ... Cheers to 'aygeecee1' and anyone else, for making a stand!

  • I knew this song 'by the cover by Dee Dee Ramone band

  • J'AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can the turkeys (the likes of "FishSticksJoe" and "coolkat613") who choose to include offensive language in their comments please have their gutter talk censored before it's posted here - it's totally out of place on pages like this. If they can't make their point without having to resort to bad language, they ought to keep their comments to themselves. They won't like comments like mine, but that's OK - they just need to be told.

  • I love this song its so good :p

  • always good to see the kids discovering this music...there is hope out there after all...this is timeless music right here.

  • who gives a fuck how old you are

  • I married Kathy 41 years ago.

  • i would love to see them live. i hear they still sound the same. such beautiful voices!

  • I'm a fucking fetus and I listen to the Everly brothers. no ones cares about your fucking age.

  • As Pop music goes, this is about as good as it gets... regardless of decade.

  • 50s on five satellite radio love the 50 in 14 and hat rap so there is some good in this workd i guess i already bought a 1953 hard top chevy polive car with siren and lights it beast

  • my sister's name is cathy and her husband is her clown....perfect song.

  • Cathy's Clown, my book says it was on the charts 4/6/60...and was #1 for5 weeks. Will Justin Bieber last that long ? RockinRonny

  • I NEVER, EVER grow tired of hearing this song or anything else from the '60's. It reminds me of hanging out with my buds in our old small neighbourhood and on the weekends in the Summer we would all camp out in someones back yard and we would have a radio tuned into some pop station and these were the songs we heard. RockinRonny

  • This song reminds me of when I was very small, and my mom used to rock me in an old, small brown rocker on the front "porch" of the house on Third Street in Springfield, Ga. She would sing this song to me, and I thought it was about a real clown. I'd say, "Mommy, sing me the clown song," and she would!

  • DON'T WANT YOUR LOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVE ANYMORE ...

DON'T WANT YOUR KIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSES THAT'S FOR SURE ...

I DIE EACH TIIIIIIMMMMMMME ... I HEAR THIS SOUND ...

    HERE HE COMES THAT'S KATY'S CLOWN ...

NOMATTER HOW OLD THIS SONG IS ... IT SURVIVED THE TIME ... TRULY!!! A FABULOUS TUNE FROM THE OLD DAYS.

  • @laggie24 Apparently most of us survived!

  • I grew up listening to this stuff as a soundtrack to my youth...thanks Dad! So much heart and soul in this music, unlike the plastic, manufactured shit that we are told to like by wankers like Simon Cowell et al. X Factor?

I'd rather dip my testes in a vat of acid...

  • @Flynch23 If you do it, make sure you film it. I see an all time best for u-tube!

  • Don't make music like this anymore sadly

  • On every video there has to be at least one comment about justin bieber. Its so annoying!!

  • shut up about justin bieber and listen to the music

little girls listen to justin bieber let them get on with it. they will grow up one day and realised hes rubbish. your just as bad for talking about him all the time

    shut up you fuckers

  • Marvellous, nothing has ever come close to their harmonies.

  • To be honest no one actually has to listen Justin Bieber. If you don't wish to listen to his music then stay far away from the Disney or ABC Family. Oh and stop listening to any radio station that plays his 'music'. I didn't know about Justin Bieber until I stumbled upon his name being mentioned here on Youtube. He is mentioned more then Jesus on here.

It would be nice to read comments that doesn't mention Justin Bieber.

    Great song by the way.

  • I've heard of him and I've seen his pictures, I've just never listened to his songs or seen him perform. From hearing and seeing so many bad remarks about him, including yours, I guess he really is just being hyped up by the media. But who knows? Maybe he really will go down in history as some great celebrity. If not on musical talent, then maybe for great entertainment. But it sounds like he isn't even so good at that.

  • 6 people are haters

  • I've just been told that this was the no.1 hit on the day I was born, not too bad for an oldie, but I have no idea what the lyrics are about. Cathy's Clown?

  • @wattlesong

Cathy is making a fool of him, or she was, until he decided NO MORE! because everyone is laughing at him.

  • @bordenhigh

Thanks so much bordenhigh, appreciate your replying.

  • @wattlesong It's all about their hair. :oD

  • proud to say these guys from my state of Kentucky. Next to Jim Beam, Horse racing, John Carpenter and Chevrolet Corvettes, they make the bluegrass state a little tolerable to live in.

  • There have been many Brothers and Sisters groups over the years,

but none had the impact of these two boys from Kentucky..

.......Let's STAY DEVOTED To The Everly Brothers.....

    Erik a.k.a. Ricky Teal, Florida.

  • i love this song and ive only just heard it. dosnt matter how old you are everyone can enjoy it :) that sounds super cheezey but its true! lol ^^

  • I am 52 years old and am just discovering the Everly Brothers - what a treat

  • Every time I hear this great recording it reminds me that I bought it after I'd borrowed 10/- from an ex-girlfriends mother...never did repay that loan...and 50 yrs later, that still bothers me!

  • im 13 and i love this song!!! i have been raised on classic and country songs

  • Phil and Don were way ahead of the music seen during their day. I've got John Lennon singing this for petes sake!

  • Another #1 hit by The Everly Brothers in the Spring of 1960. This followed Elvis (Stuck on You). Could these two acts continue their momentum into this new decade? Or would there be another breakout act down the road? Only time would tell. BTW, The Everly's had signed with Warner Brothers Records and their first hit with WB was this. Not a bad way to start this new decade.

  • thats era of great rocknroll music the everly brothers in my opinion are the greatest rocknroll duo.

  • @ Sammei...because great music is timeless

  • I'm in my early twenties and I grew up on this music - my parents' music. I do enjoy a lot of music from this era like the Everly Brothers, The Monkees, The Beatles, etc.

It is sad too see the direction that music today has gone - any innocent songs are few and far between.

  • I'm 14 and think this is a great song!

  • I'm fourteen and I love The Everly Brothers.

  • A great classic from the summer of 1960...boy were the times great!

  • I'm 15 and I feel so sad that only a little amount of children in my generation does not appreciate great music such The Everly Brothers and The Beatles.

  • This is one of the best songs ever. If you want to hear a cute and lesser known Everly Brothers song, type in" Poor Jenny" by the Everly Brothers. Let me know what you think.

  • @68enxy ...um is not bad but harmonies a little strange...rare. but very nice song!:

    )

  • Beatles can't touch this.

  • Like this, there are hundreds of tunes from before my time that are hauntingly superb.

    Good stuff.

    Frame.

  • this is AMAZING. AMAZING.

the harmonies are as moving as those in "rain" by the beatles.

also, same beginning chords and note held as in "I should've known better."

let me tell you, those beatles pinched from the right guys!

  • One of the great of all time.

  • The Reba version of this is better

  • I don't give a damn this song is 30 yrs older than me, I LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • i gotta staaand taaalllll

  • I'm now in my 60's and this is still the best music ever. Great to dance to, great to listen to and decent lyrics!

  • They had The Everly Brothers.. We have Justin Bieber.. I wanna kill myself...

  • @WDeconstruct - "WE" still have the Everly Brothers, that's the beauty of recordings and the timelessness of music. Justin Bieber isn't an artist or a musician btw, he's just a formulaic kid being crammed down our throats by the suits and TELLING us it's "good". There's still good music being made today, you just have to sift through the Biebers and Spears to find it, but it's there.

  • @kree1964 you are so right. "YOUNG AMERICA" LISTEN TO THIS TO THIS PERSON.

  • @kree1964 Actually he was pretty popular on youtube before he was signed. I hate his music but saying that he is just being crammed down our throats by suits when he had a following on youtube before he had any affiliation with suits is just ridiculously ignorant.I agree with the rest though.

  • @jakejumpover Being ridiculoulsy ignorant regarding anything to do with Justn Bieber, is a badge of honor. I accept your compliment. ;) But please, don't give me anymore Bieber factoids... it may induce suicide.

  • @WDeconstruct That's some funny shit. Keep searchin through the old stuff.

  • @WDeconstruct I keep hearing bad comments about that kid. Is he really all that bad? Judging only from his pictures, I'll admit that I'm surprised that he's so popular with the young girls today, but is he that lousy of a musician? I've never even heard any of his music, so I wouldn't know.

  • @stitchesful

A "friend" directed me to a vid of his.... said it was a laugh. Well, I know it was Hallowe'en but some things are too horrific even for that. I still daren't close my eyes in case he appears in front of my eyes.

    HTH

    Traumatised.

  • @stitchesful He's being hyped up by the media. He isn't even allowed to smell the farts of these two amazing artists. I would say, be happy you never heared of him. Make sure it stays that way!

  • @WDeconstruct That little puta ain't no musician...

  • @WDeconstruct It's not fair is it?

  • @WDeconstruct It's because unfortunately,

we are not the same people!

You have an independent mind, stay

with that course, you have a rough

road ahead, but in the end, you'll

    be vindicated!!!!!!

  • 5 people are cathys clown

  • @lorddarkfuture that they are!! how can anyone not like this song?

  • Raw talent. Real rock 'n' Roll.

  • I love my mum for bringing me up with such great music. Im 20 and absoloutley love the oldies!!

  • This was their first hit for Warner Bros. (after leaving Cadence) in the summer of 1960.

  • It's strange how your brain retains certain sounds and lyrics and rests on them for sometimes years at a time. Then, for some unknown reason, a trigger releases and you begin singing Cathy's Clown.

  • I was born in 66 and when I was two this was my song. My mother said I would pick it out of the album case.

  • @thepoopie2 My parents had it on vinyl, god knows what album, but damn, here I am still listening. :)

  • Timeless

  • You just can't listen to Don and Phil without wanting to sing harmony with them. I've loved the Everlys since I was a kid in the 50's and so glad they got back together so I could hear them live in the 80's. They sould just the same live as on recording ... no gimmics ... just REAL TALENT.

  • Saturday Mornings, early early 1960s..60-62 this famous harmony and sound can be heard saturday mornings..along with Farmer Grey Cartoons and Loony Toons.

and Lassie and the black stallion Fury, and President Kennedy was our President. and late saturday nights would be Sci fi and horror movies.

  • THE BEST FROM PHIL AND DON....CLASSIC.

  • oldies songs reminds me of my childhood even though I'm from the 90's...but that's only because my mom used to play these songs a lot

  • 3 words!!!! Oh MY GOD!! Have the biggist smile on my face right now!!

  • Very 4-Seasons intro...

  • @Baskerville22 to what

  • I want to know how anyone could search this song and then dislike it(like the 4 thumbs down above). It is soo good in soo many ways. One of my favorites "that's for sure!"

  • No doubt an influence on THE BEATLES 'PLEASE PLEASE ME'

    The Brothers rule

  • Lovely toon...ive played it too many times its crazy

  • How good is this release it tomorrow NO1 week after

  • Probably my favorite Everly Brothers song. So many memories...

  • I swear on my life, this song is sung about my grandmother. Her name is Catherine Kennedy, she currently resides in Florida. If you don't believe look up her name. She dated Don in highschool and she treated him kinda crappy, hence the song. And that's what the song is about! :D

  • Reba's is better.

  • their harmony is awesome, especially the cathy's clown part!

  • Singers like this usually have an awesome history. From the days of Browning, Ky. to Chicago's Bars these guys developed the perfect rhythm, harmony, and voices. GREAT!

  • great song.

  • I love this and 2 years before my birth.

  • do want your love for evermore...do want your kisses thats for sure.... nellie xxxx :)

  • The music and harmony of this song is OUT OF this World and Definately the 60s. i had to be 5yrs old when this came out.

  • The ultimate "man cheated" song. Sad lyrics.

  • Comment removed

  • @oldermusiclover Yeah, I know. It goes both ways. Nonetheless, the lyrics are quite sad - quite ahead of their time.

  • what a stunning peice of music :)

  • Comment removed

  • @oldermusiclover most likely a studio drummer on record. On Alma Cogan Show clip performing song live, Buddy Holly's Crickets were playing behind them, which should be Waylon Jennings on drums. It's listed here, but on original clip all four songs were done as a set. Now they are split.

  • I was a teenage girl in the 60's and I thougth these

were the two cutest guys i'd ever seen.

  • the one on the left was the sexiest!

    lets hunch

    aye

  • Big influence on the Beatles.....and why not? Their harmonies are legendary!

  • i love this song i was in love with my teenage boyfriend and i lost him...50years ago.

  • I used to sing this song all day when I was little. Ah, good times. :)

  • My uncle had this record in his collection. Well, he won't have it any more : I "borrowed" it. Sorry uncle Frans

  • @mirrejve it is also on a cd now

  • I think this has to get back in the top 40!!

  • I'm turning 20 in October, and the 1960s will always be the best decade of music ever. Great song!!! You know, I love my life, and I'm happy, but I wish I could overlook the 1960s until now, just to see everything from before the Beatles until today. I missed so many great songs and the true glory days of music. Now kids today are listening to Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers without a clue of this great music.

  • Early Beatles-like

  • Comment removed

  • Early Beatles-like

  • I think this is their best. Love that intro....

  • I have to pick one song per great artist for this web feature I'm doing and trying to choose between this all i have to do is dream is like trying to choose between the two godfather films... what d'you guys reckon?

  • Beyond timeless. Monumental arrangement and above all melody, simple yet complex. It really flows........... These guys and the producers really hit this one way out of the ballpark - it's still going............. Ought to play it on the radio............., fat chance these days. Lucky are those who lived in this time.

  • 50 years ago this was #1 song and wow has time flown by

  • @SammeiVengeance All I love is oldies. And I'm 15! The crap they give us today is not right :/. I believe I was born in the wrong time. Don;t you feel the same?

  • @Mikeyslilsista14 I don't think you are born in the wrong time... it's good that young people appreciate this music. I believe in generally music will move towards drawing inspiration from this type of music. It goes in waves.

  • @SammeiVengeance Because it's good, my friend. And that goes for all styles, all genres, and all ages-if it's good, it's good. Period.

  • @SammeiVengeance

  • @caesiume sorry but i couldn't help but get into your convo cuz u made a big deal out of nothing, chill.

  • @caesiume

    youre lame

  • Iv'e always loved this song.

  • I heard this was their biggest hit on the charts. I like it, it reminds me of a modern song, the way it's played I guess they copied it from this great song.

  • The Everly Brothers (Don Everly, born Isaac Donald Everly February 1, 1937, Brownie, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky and Phil Everly, born Phillip Everly, January 19, 1939, Chicago, Illinois) are brothers and country-influenced rock and roll performers, known for steel-string guitar playing and close harmony singing. The Everlys are the most successful U.S. rock and roll duo on the Hot 100.[citation needed] Their greatest period came between 1957 and 1964.

  • A timeless classic :-)

  • Phil and Don are extremely talented singers and musicians! They are one of the most popular duos of all time.

  • I love the base. :-)

My favorite song by these guys!

  • Yaay my name!! :)

  • 1of several gr8 tunes by these 2bros.king$.

  • Great music doesn't have an expiration date.

  • @buyerofsorts Your so rite. Im 36 and would rather listen to the 60's music than the trash we have to endure today.

  • @buyerofsorts

    I totally agree....

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • It's okay to love this music. I loved it when I was 15 and I am now 66. My kids and grandkids love the music I grew up with (although they like their stuff too which I don't get at all!!). I like to hear the words.

  • @evelyn842 yeah im 12 and like newer country rock and older country cause i lived with my grandma and she was 69 when she past and this was one of her fav. songs

  • Réservé à Christian Dorange et à Marc Stepmann mes 2 amours mes désolée les gars la place est prise depuis 8 ans

    Fanchette

  • nice! :)

  • At last a quality version by the 'Real' Everly bros. Tks

  • This song is a true stroke of genius.

  • There's nothing wrong with liking music from before you were born. I was five when my parents turned be on to the Beatles.

  • When I was about 7 or 8 I used to play Everly Brothers 78 records (amongst others) on me grandad's old record player. 78's are so brittle, I dropped Wake Up Little Suzie and it shattered, and I was mortified. I live and breathe music...

  • I love this song, and i'm 16, do you find it odd?

  • @drewcollins12 noooooo.......I was 13 when I started loving these acts and Im 30.

  • mastermind: NO NO NO NO NO it's not wrong, it's perfect!! Great music is great music, whether it was written the year you were born, 20 years after, 20,30,40 years before...Thanks for appreciating the Everlys! One of the greatest ever. The Beatles thought so, used the same harmonies when they sang harmony.

  • I'm called Cathy this is my song :) :) :) I'm trying to do my own version of it on acoustic tar but I know it's never gonna be as good as these guys :)

  • I dedicate this to my older brother Tommy.

    I miss you so much.

  • There is no pro tools editing going on here for voice pitch, that's for sure(0:20)!).Perfect pitch, great harmony.......(0:23) I die each time I hear this sound!!!!
