Harry Chapin played more concerts for charity than for profit. I found out about his death during my birthday party way back in July of '81. I saw him in concert 11 times and met him twice. I talked to his brother Tom a number of years after Harry died, and was able to tell him how much his brother's music has meant to me over the years. Rest in peace, Harry. We hardly knew ye.
wow wow wow..........loved the combination of Harry and DMC....always loved Harrys music ......gave up my son for adoption when he was 14 months due to his birth mothers mental ilness and my inability to over come the situation . He is now a healthy balanced 12 year old that I get to visit every September for a day out with him and his new Mum and Dad. Our open adoption has been a huge success because his brave birth mother and I put him first, try telling that to strangers,
@cloruske Don't worry about the fool stranger who don't see the love in your actions. I love that you did that. Harry was a great man. He would have appreciated the humanity in not possessing your child, but allowing him to be free and giving yourselves the opportunity to grow properly as well. There is a song that tells us our children are not you they come through you. I'll look for it and get back to you:) Believe in yourself.
In all my years I have never been so touched by any entertainer as I was by Harry. I saw him a few times, once at an outdoor concert where we on the grass got soaked. In the middle he stopped playing ran out in the rain came back, and said ' "That was for you cheap seats!" Yes it was and we loved it. He was one of a kind....
Where are all the celebs that took part in Liveaid's "We are the World"? Why aren't they still working for Harry's dream to end world hunger. If Harry were alive today he would still be involved in the effort. If only he had lived long enough to see the Liveaid concert. He would never let them forget that the war against hunger hasn't ended. Bless Harry, a great man!!!
Harry WOULD have loved this! Every year is World Hunger Year.
