  • please stand for youtube theme

  • @kreeperrock yeah or if ur keepin several. Regular maintenance avoids most problems with everything but people do get sidetracked

  • @FleeingCreature frogs dont really drink they absorb the water through their skin

  • @TheYankeesboy25 they should have a big water dish because they create a mild toxin that can eventually render the water poisonous

  • @dreadfulcreation and the water should be changed regularly that only becomes a problem if ur lazy

  • if they have a sectioned off water section you dont need a dish

  • fire bellied newts should live in an almost entirely aquatic tank with some areas to rest on land (3-1 water to land)

  • dont mix toads and newt bad idea!

  • mute

  • I am getting 2 fbt in a week and I was wondering do you have to have a water dish or will they drink from the water section

  • what filters that?

  • Could I keep 1 or 2 aduld newts with 3-5 gold barbs in a 10-15 gallon tank? Great video by the way!

  • i just got 2 of the firebelly toads today do they need a water section?

  • The toads are better, the other one turned me into a newt.

    Nice setup though.

  • dude.... that is the exact same background that i have for my twenty gallon fish tank...

  • i like ur tank. do u have any issues with drainage on the land side? do they get out of the water ok?

  • It would have made life easier to leak test first

  • this tank is so awesome! I didn't know you could mix fire bellied newts and fire bellied toads together. What do you feed your newts and toads? where did you find that filter?

what were all those bottles you put in the water dish?

  • Great video! I shared it on My new Facebook site all about Fire Bellied Toads. Hop on over and check it out if you like -John

  • @crowejr75 wats ur fb group called

  • awesome O-o

  • your tank is so fucken awesome!!! OwO im copy you >w< ima get some frogs :3

  • What kind of filter are you using in the water area?

  • The info is good, but i cannot see this video, I mean, the music....

  • How do you clean a tank like that?

  • your setup seems very excessive in terms of the land/water ratio for newts.

  • hey! awesome tank set up!! i am wanting to do the same thing, however i need a water filter... what filter setup should i ask for when going to a petstore?? it's obviously not one for a fish tank, but i'm not sure as to what to use!! if you could suggest something, or give me the name of yours that'd be awesome. :)

  • @jacktroup No,they are agressive towards each other for some reason.

  • All for about 300 bucks -____-

  • can you put fire belly toads and newts together ??? thanks

  • how do they get in and out of the water

  • check out my vidoes on fire belly toads.

  • so you can have fire toads and newts mixed with each other??

  • @AnimalLoverGirlCutie i wouldn't try it, because they have different toxins in their skins. if one soaked in the water and the other drank it, it could kill the one who drank it.

  • @herpingwithmarc not really i have my toad and firebellies together wth 6 other fish and they all have an orgy :3

  • this is gonna sound stupid-but what do the filters even do-i never used one just go to walmart and buy some spring water every week for my toads

  • @TheEmster51 they suck any dirt and crap or anything that might get into the water.

  • @skyman501 kk-thanks

  • how often do you need to change the substrate/dirt in the tank?

  • Nice Job. I have a simple aquirium with a water bowl for swimming cuz i havent got enough money. Savin up

  • What kind of filter did you use?

  • This is the best instructional video I've seen on YouTube about setting up a toad tank. I've got 4 saltwater reef aquariums but after watching this video I think I'm gonna build a toad tank as well, Thanks

  • HI PEOPLE I NEED MORE VIEWS.6/8/2011

  • Don't get why the hell you put those big rocks in the bottom

  • @bduenas13 The big rocks are there simply to take up space. More volume occupied by rocks, then the less of the "special" dirt you will need to fill the same amount of space. He said he wasn't sure if he had enough dirt to fill it up, hence the rocks.

  • I couldn't hit them cause they were squirming so I stuck the barrel right up to there head

  • @michaeltass1 Ur are an a**!

  • I taped 3 newts to a plate and shot them with a bb gun

  • what is the price for all this?

  • thats great! i saw the plants on the filter and i did the same thing but i put a lil 2 much cuz you cant even see the filter any more lolz

  • You didn't put enough dirt on the land side, they should have to climb the glass to get in the water

  • thumbs up

  • can you actually get a fire bellied toad in the UK?

    Someone please reply

  • @bruceyberry

yeah you can go to an aquatic shop :)

  • @Taylorrosee96 thanks but I have decided that I am getting a bearded dragon instead so much more interesting and with amphibians you are not aloud to because it damages there skin.

  • i was thinking of buying a fire belly newt to go along with my fire belly toad but can they be together? i know you separated them by using sealant but i saw the fire belly newt was on the other side of the fire belly toads side.

  • @2ripeapples The divider is to divide the water and land not newts and toads I think

  • @2ripeapples The divider is for water and land divider, not separating the two. They get along just fine.

  • I'm soooooo going to do that tank cuz I have a fire belly toad and I'm trying to find a tank and thats the one!!!

  • that live moss?

  • Hey where did you get your plexiglass cut at?

  • What's that water filter called?

  • the big area should be for water

  • this ok for american toad?? i always find sum during the summer and i might keep 1 :P

  • reptile dirt for amphibians, who did recommend you this ? :D

its okay to use moss youd find in a forest - also this hiding space is not very creative you could use lot more plants on land & water.

also you could or should add some plants at the water / land border because its hard for them to get out of the water like this ;)

i guess you changed a lot already.

still i like the tank, better than many youd find on the internet

  • you should check out my fire belly toad/newt setup lots of plants:]

  • Can you use fish water conditioner for the waterbowl and water area?

  • i only put a tub of water about 3-4 inches deep and 4-5 inches wide in my tank is that enough

  • does any1 know what th name that band is???

  • can you do everthing in this vid for just the newt

  • can this work for any newt

  • nice cage ;)

  • Hey dude wats the name of that band? Oh and wat temperature does the water have to be in the newt tank ????

  • do they need a heater?

  • @rhysizhere1 no they can live a room temp.

  • @rhysizhere1 No unless your house is below 70 degrees or so. I use a 25 watt incandescent bulb for heat. Keeps half the tank around 76, the other half around 70.

  • @rhysizhere1 It really depends on the newt/toad. For example, the fire belly newt prefers colder waters a little below room temp. and a heater would be a bad thing. Just do your research on your specific animal.

  • @rhysizhere1 no

  • @rhysizhere1 No species of salamander that I know of needs them, as they prefer to live in conditions from 50 to 60 degrees. Many people, including myself, have problems keeping them cold enough. :(

  • @rhysizhere1 no, no, no dont ever use a heater, they cant get much above 7o degrees they need to be 65 to 70 degrees

  • @rhysizhere1 He already put in the video "room temperature is fine"

  • @rhysizhere1 no

  • @rhysizhere1 the newts don't need a heater they like it around 65-70 degrees fahrenheit

  • @rhysizhere1 no they dont need heaters they prefer cooler waters kinda like goldfish

  • @rhysizhere1 No unless you decide not to light it (bad decision)

  • where did you buy that plexiglass . PLEASE ANSWER THANK YOU

  • can you feed them blood worms everyday or they must have crickets as a consistent meal? please answer. thank you

  • Sounds like Franz Ferdinand at the start.

  • Always check for leaks when it's next to a electrical plug-ins.

  • hey what type of sealer did you use is it made just for fish tanks?

  • @afbkid3 yeah, aquarium sealant is sold at all major pet stores

  • @LAUGHTOY0URSELF woa woa woa, the land/ water area is backwards it should be more water than and, but whatever works for your newts, as long as they can swim comfortably

  • @LAUGHTOY0URSELF Great vid! i like the idea of the plexi glass divider...thas probably what im gonna do for my newts ( when i get them ) but again great vid

  • @afbkid3 you could just use silicone.

  • always test for leakage BEFORE putting anything in your tank

  • Usually newts are more aggressive than the toads plus the newts spend almost all their time in the water. The only thing is you might want to make sure their not around each other when feeding them.

  • I have a question. . .Do your firebelly toads every try to eat your newt? Or attack it? I want to get one but one of my frogs are really competitive and sometimes aggressive, I have 3 fbt. Please respond asap. Thanks

  • Can you just use garden dirt with no chemicals in it as a land area?

  • how exactly do u clean it?

  • fuck man why does every home made video have this stupid song, every video has this song.

    Great info though

  • @ernierockaholic

Going to change my vid now lol

  • are fire belly toad poisonous

  • Nice video! I have a fire belly too check mine out

  • (continued from last post)

They love the high water, they swim all around and hop on the lilly pads I have covering the top of the water. My tank is dense w/ live plants both in the water and above ground growing off the mountain giving them tons of hiding space. They are brite colored and croak all the time wich means they are very happy. They chow on gut loaded crickets and small guppy's they catch in the water. I now have 2 pregnant females! :)

  • THIS IS A EPIC FAIL O YOUR TOADS STILL LIVING???? PROB NOT

  • @BIGBANKSBOY Actually there is NOTHING wrong w/ this set-up. I have done tons of research online before getting mine and this set-up is very reasonable. I have 4 in a 60 gallon River Tank that has 60% water - 40% land w/ a full scale mountain structure consuming the entire back of the tank w/ a running stream circulating the water w/ 3 working waterfalls. Although they say 10 cm of water I have mine 12in / 10 in / and 8 in in the 3 seperate pools connected by the waterfalls. (continued)

  • @xSOILBORNx I WAS REALLY BORED JUST BEING A JERK LOL

  • can u hold them?

  • Song?

  • how much did this all cost?

  • well the newts are quite big now ive had them about a year ?

  • what kind of filter did you use?

  • bad ass video

  • can you have fire bellied newts and fire bellied toads living in the same tank ??? thanks

  • @lgnhall i wudnt tink so depens on da size of the newts if there the same size as the toads the toads wont eat dem

  • what kind of filter

  • my brother and his girl friend are getting a newt tank and some newts i need some info like whats the best food for them and how many should live in a 3 gallen tank i belive the tank size was but i need some advice.

  • @werewolfslayer56

Only one in a 3 gallon tank.

  • name of the filter?

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!

  • nice setup. the only thing i'd do/did differently would be position the plexiglass at a 45-degree angle and mount rocks to the embankment (easier access for your animals to get in and out of the water), and add water to test the plexi sealant before adding anything else to the tank.

  • hi!i like your video but how do you feed them when you go in holidays?

  • @MrTiagoSkater They can go 2 weeks w/o eating.

  • Comment removed

  • I did the same thing with the plexi. I am making it in a 29gallon.

  • i did the same thing in my 20 gallon but i dont have any frogs yet i was going to use frogs from the tadpoles im raising i put 2 square iwslands and a river in the shape of a question mark acting as a river

  • sweet man..i finally finished the one i said i would..check it out on my cannel =)

  • where did you get that sealent?

  • I was thinking of getting 2-3 of them, And i was wondering. If i add guppies what would they eat. Also would a 10g be big enough for 2-3 of them. or should i go 20 long. I plan to do his setup made add some more vegatation. Also how big is the filter. thanks.

  • @Nebraskafootballsue well 10g. is beg enough for prlly 3 ya but 20 gal long would be better..and ya guppies are fine..but if they are super tiny ur toad might eat them

  • what type of light should i use?

  • ay you dumb ass there is no such thing as a 100% natural environment for any that is being kept as a pet you fukin retard

  • I was wondering what sealant you used so it doesn't harm my toad, and i was wondering where you got the plexiglass? and if it leaks.. how do you fix it? respond please thank you.

  • i did this and my toad died wtf!! u asshole! no one listen to this bitch!!

  • @amefavi um...u did sumthin wrong or urs was sick obviously...

  • @amefavi either ur toad was sick..freak accident..or u might have used TOXIC SEALENT

  • whats the best tank setup, vertical or horizontals for fire bellied toads?

  • @SushiSounds i dont know

  • I feel like I should pay you for that video. I absolutely love it !!!! Congratulations !!!!! This is the best set up I have ever seen.

  • I had a fire-bellied newt that died a few years ago, and am thinking of getting a new one, and designing a much nicer terrarium. What filter would you recommend to ensure safety and cleanliness of the tank?

  • can firebelly toads and firebelly newts go in the same cage? please respond fast

  • hey should i get 2 fire belly toads or 2 fire belly newts? i like your setup i want mine kinda like that but i might change the land a little

  • smooth off the plexiglass seperator or it might cut the bellies

  • what filter do i use for my tank

  • Thats A Very Cool Setup But....Cleaning....? would Probably Be A huge Mess!

  • not really. you take a layer off the land side and clear some water out. thats all lol

  • fukk yeah! lol

  • @SuperShawnbell

When you clea n the tank btw, You have a filter and you just have to do like a 75% water change like take out a bucket of water

then put a bucket back in. and you'll be good as long as u have a filter running

  • if fish gravel ok? im guessing it is but if its not im removing it asap

  • Yes

  • i just use distilled water that u can get at walmart is that ok for fish and things like that

  • is it alright to hold Chinese/Japanese fire belly newts?

And if so do they bite?

    Cheers..

  • Comment removed

  • HEYA WEHERE DO U BUY THESE PLEASE REPLY

  • wat the frogs u can get them at a local pet shop 8D

  • Nice music cool tank add guppies since u got a filter

  • i have a smaller set up, one thing that happens to mine is the water from the water area condenses and soaks the dry area

how do you stop or avoid this?

  • Get a glass divider. Basically you just cut a piece of glass the size that you want, then use aquarium/glass sealant to glue the glass into the tank.

  • firstly the larger water part looks a little too difficult for the toads to get out of the water.

secondly i wouldnt mix them two species. just because they are both called fire bellied doesnt mean its ok, the newts look small enough for the toads to have a chomp on.

Not being mean just my honest opinion. other than them two things the tank looks great!

  • @jme2049 you can mix them ,also add some guppies but the frogs might eat them. I also don't like the large water part.

  • little bit too high dont ya think !

  • why dont u jsut have a shallow tank with water and jsut high rocks.. so u can have a fish or 2 swimming with the frogs man

  • Best fire belly tank ever..

  • Not to be a bch but where the main water spot is you should put rocks stacked so they can get easily in and out of the water. Other then that GREAT VIDEO.

  • really nice video=) good

  • nice vids

  • i just got my toads 2 days ago
