Hes using a dc power transforming that carrys 12 volts! It wont hurt anyone even though it is plugged in the wall the voltage has changed to a harmless level.
@tangnatalaga I don't see how you came to that conclusion that it was AC vs. DC. In fact the one wire sticking to the coil lead post spark makes me think it was a large capacitive discharge.
@biodot8 It does look like a capacitor discharge. I think that is even more dangerous because those capacitors can kick higher voltage at high current enough to probably kill a person.
That's what a coilgun is, just an electromagnetic accelerator made into a gun shape. Gauss was just a man who made theories about electromagnetic accelerations.
nice, but your loosing alot of voltage by just touching the wire to the gun what you need to do is just buy a high voltage switch for like 2 bucks and then just hook it up
yo and also thicker wire, the thicker it is, the less ohms it has and the less area the elec. has to go thru. plus keep the number of turn also a little down
It doesn't look like a multi stage...but anyway, a lot of your energy is wasted on those huge sparks. You should get a proper switch, i think it'll be cleaner and more powerfull.
how was this made

what voltage does your house have? 110-american or 240-european
MrOverlord1000 1 year ago
did you use a big ass capaciter of just plug it into the wall if u used a capaciter is it from an old tv

I'd like to see a larger picture of the electromagnet accelerator iron object drawing
jasonyoungisnumber1 1 year ago
mulistage accelerator doesnt quite work like that ... it has to be sequence. youl find the multistage one wil offer less force.
rroge5 1 year ago
that is incorrect sire electro magnetism is relative to amperage not voltage !
ur4n1um 1 year ago
he used AC current O.o
isn't that dangerous

how far will it go on 120 volts?
tylers911 2 years ago
it requires much more then that
i made one that had 350 volt s with 5 caps
firedude201234 1 year ago
Instead of using capacitors, he used household current. The household current is much more lethal than the bullet, thats a dangerous project.

@tangnatalaga Don't forget that capacitors of the right size, or arranged in banks can be just as lethal, if not more!

this seems to be a lot more powerful than most other coil guns I've seen. Nice work.

youre losing lots of enerhy by that method of switching, its also dangerous

after a time he'll shock himself or the ends of the wires will evaporate too
a good high-amp Relay is pricey though =(
all my 12V relays are unusable, they're just like a spark gap

does anz1 have the blueprint for this?
Stainthatisred 3 years ago
And use a THICKER AND SHORTER projectile, as well as adding more turns on the coil!
Then it'll be much more efficient.
