Thanks for looking. It snows every year up there, and on the other volcano mountains, too. People actually come to Hawaii to ski! Who would have thunk it?
Personally, I can't live in the cold ever again. I moved to Hawai'i from NJ about 6 years ago. We have the most perfect weather year round in our little spot, I am ruined. However, snow capped mountains are very beautiful from afar and surprising to find here in Hawai'i... I was shocked the first time I saw it.
Wow, you live Kohala and never been up Mauna Kea and have never seen the snow. Was at the Hilton one week and on the way home to Ka'u we saw snow up on Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and the other one Holualoa (is that the name, I always forget!)It was so beautiful ...you know from a distance where you don't feel the cold. I am not really into the cold! Also, we live in Ka'u and can see Mauna Loa ... we can see the snow atop the mountain some days in the winter months from this side of the mountain, too.
How often does it snow there?
