IMO this was a race to forget. David's engine blew up while he was leading, Mika had problems with his brakes and Ferrari ended the race with a 1-2.Thank God Häkkinen won at the Nürburgring and at Suzuka afterwards... Somehow Mika was never lucky in Italian GPs.
Todt needs to watch this. Schumacher was able to move 4 times in the overtake on Mika in the dirty air... they should bring back the 98 spec cars, if not 97.

I remember the excitement of Schuey catching up and passing Hakkinen. Then the suspense as Hakkinen chase. Then the joy when Hakkinen span off the track! Simply amazing :D
The commentating is so brilliant, very knowlegable from both of them (commentating veteran Murray, and Martin fresh out of F1) - lots of excitement too. I think we need Damon + Brundle!
@dave00075f1 Yeah I think it probably was. I remember Murray Walker saying "McLaren need better reliability, Ferrari need more performance, the rest need a bit of both" (Jordan / Williams and so on) - which was quite a good way to put it for a lot of 98 - '00.

The mclaren was a better car from about 98 till the year 2000 for sure 1:57. i think hakkinen was quick but shumacher was a better driver.
