@novapj, the more effective way to get your message out is via communication and in multiple languages where 2/3 of the country is actually on the same page in the voting booth. In a real war you would have to maintain supply lines etc. etc. and I certainly hope you would have some sort of air, land, sea strategy. wvhvac1 depending on what locality, city, state you work in some are pro-union and some are not. Local, city, state workers (public sector) can be typically union. Mine is SEIU however I don't got to union meetings/rallies etc. etc. and there was no option to decline joining up because my dues were automatically taken out of my check. I took the opportunity to go into the public sector for stability as the perm jobs in the private sector just were not there.
I am a forced union member myself and I am so tired of my dues being used to socialize this country. I am so tired of getting socialist propaganda mailed to my home with my own money.

However the situation we're in is if we start raising hell at work then we find ourselves out of a job. You touch on a great point here that I wish more union members could see happens to them. You feel CONTROLLED to go along with the herd (union) and lose your individual rights for the good of the group. Makes you sometimes feel very powerless huh? @ProudC2, the main pt I'm trying to touch on is why I went into the public sector (note the state I'm in makes use of the unions) is because after two years of working locally in the private sector as a temp., no company wanted to pick me up as a permanent employee. So I took an out and joined up with the union. FYI, given all I've been through I'm pro-union actually vs. non-union and I base that decision solely on my treatment in the truck driving industry working 4Swift (a non-union company)

@ProudC2, the politics of the situation doesn't matter to me. It was finding a company that would help me build my skills. That is how one playes the workforce. If you know you are in a dead end job, you take your skills and move on as was the case w/ me. From time of application submitted, it took me over a year to get called up so I waited out the process whiile surviving in areas where cost of living was affordable. In the end we all look out for our best interests to progress & live.

In regards to future voting practices I may engage in, I'd be looking for a more commoner background in an candidate vs. career politician. I guess another way to put it is that if SEIU goes, then we'd all just get offered contracts with enough pay to live on and purchase our own benefits. Uncertain what that means 4retirement.

@Roguemember, I had to join up with the union when I went into the public sector and I'm actually pro-union considering my treatment in the trucking industry was very shitty. However the way it works in trucking when you sign on with some companies you are obligated to abide by the state rules they are headquartered in and some of those states are right to work which means non-union. Some states are pretty much union busters and I moved out of one for more stability. Like the perks.

@novapj, the more effective way to get your message out is via communication and in multiple languages where 2/3 of the country is actually on the same page in the voting booth. In a real war you would have to maintain supply lines etc. etc. and I certainly hope you would have some sort of air, land, sea strategy. A more effective approach is shutting down Washington, D.C. where everyone drives their cars in and stops them right on the streets and march and be heard that way without guns.

wvhvac1 depending on what locality, city, state you work in some are pro-union and some are not. Local, city, state workers (public sector) can be typically union. Mine is SEIU however I don't got to union meetings/rallies etc. etc. and there was no option to decline joining up because my dues were automatically taken out of my check. I took the opportunity to go into the public sector for stability as the perm jobs in the private sector just were not there.

However the situation we're in is if we start raising hell at work then we find ourselves out of a job. @ProudC2, the main pt I'm trying to touch on is why I went into the public sector (note the state I'm in makes use of the unions) is because after two years of working locally in the private sector as a temp., no company wanted to pick me up as a permanent employee. So I took an out and joined up with the union. FYI, given all I've been through I'm pro-union actually vs. non-union and I base that decision solely on my treatment in the truck driving industry working 4Swift (a non-union company)

If you know you are in a dead end job, you take your skills and move on as was the case w/ me. From time of application submitted, it took me over a year to get called up so I waited out the process whiile surviving in areas where cost of living was affordable. In the end we all look out for our best interests to progress & live.

So called patriots turning guns on union workers isn't anything the labor movement hasn't dealt with in the past.
The ironic things is that most of the worker rights these non union "patriots" enjoy were won with the blood and sweat of union struggle. Unions benefit all workers whether unionized or not.

You're right. If there's a way to strengthen unions and raise wages, it's about time we do something about illegal/legal immigration. Letting more people into the country, thus increasing the labor pool while capital investment is decreasing, is a recipe for disaster. If Democrats wanted to help unions, they'd do something about immigration; but that's racist, remember?

@Roguemember, I had to join up with the union when I went into the public sector and I'm actually pro-union considering my treatment in the trucking industry was very shitty. However the way it works in trucking when you sign on with some companies you are obligated to abide by the state rules they are headquartered in and some of those states are right to work which means non-union. Some states are pretty much union busters and I moved out of one for more stability. Like the perks.
