  • hilarious and inspirational; I too have a speech impediment/stutter.

  • how...i almost dont even believe he stutters...does anyone know what method he uses? Shwartz? ive never heard of "air flow strategy"...can anyone give me a jist of what it says?

  • do you(happy7117) have personal experience with the Schwarts method and know it not to be very effective?

  • If Andy did not overcome his stuttering using that Schwartz air-flow strategy, he wouldn't be making that speech!!!!

People who overcome stuttering with a certain device or other means have every right to brag and tell others about their success!!

Unfortenetly- air-flow method works only for those who's stutterings are caused by locked vocal chords.

Andy's speech should ONLY be addressed to those who have acheived fluency from schwartz's air-flow method.

  • i stutter but not when i rap though.....i wish i could get over it like that but u know it aint easy

  • Andy is a master of Schwartz air flow method!!

He is like 1 in a million that technique works for!

Tried the airflow thing, but did not work for me.

  • Let me remind everyone that airflow method will not work for everybody.

Schwartz is very narrow minded and thinks stuttering is only caused by locked vocal chords.

It's so much more than just locked vocal chords.....

I believe in Andy, but Schwartz has a one track mind when it comes to stuttering help.

Andy needs to show other success with other therapies giving him fluency. Not just airflow.

Airflow is not the only ticket to fluency my friends.

  • Wooot That was a great speech!

  • Initially there was a variation of the first syllable intent aspect of airflow..which is still automatically present and can be detected if you listen close to the videos/speeches--but many other methods/techniques were incorporated as well.. I highly recommend the book "You can stop stuttering" by Schwartz and Carter-- It's usually available on Amazon

  • Your reccomending the book because the air-flow strategy helped you.

The book might benefit stutterers who's stuttering is only caused by locked vocal chords.

You stick with Schwartz-- while other stutterers like me try different methods and therapies..

  • I'm just curious, how did you reduce the tension on your vocal cords?? Was there a specific technique?

  • LOL as someone who stutters I laughed so hard at the fish stick story....it just brought back so many times in which my choice of foods have been increased because of my stuttering. I like his humor, humor breaks down fear alot of times.

  • Wow, that about sums up what I've been going through the last five years and it truly is one of the worst feelings in the world to not be able to communicate. I think I'm going to have to join Toastmasters. Fear has to end.

  • sooooo inspirational. ive been stuttering forever

  • Im joining toastmsters too to improve my stuttering... I dont want stuttering to affect my life anymore. Im 18 and I want to live. THis guy is such an inspiration and I gain totally relate to him !!!

  • That was a great speech and very inspirational, I have stammered since I was 4 and after 28 years I learnt to control it with the McGuire Programme, my video is on here too. The speecheasy device also looks amazing. There are programmes out there that do work and can change your life.

I cannot describe the feeling of being able to finally control a stammer and hold a conversation without feeling embarrasement and self hatred.

    Well done Andrew

  • I totally agree with you, not everyone can "overcome" it, makes me mad very mad, its not like we dont try

  • looks like ben stiller

  • i want to stop stuttering so bad, i just wish i didnt have to go to therapy for it. anyone who reads this who doesnt stutter, your so lucky, becuase it sucks so bad you have no clue.

  • heyyy dudee.. i know a lot about this.. i stutter.. send me a message..

  • I stutter to..it's the worst affliction ever. Fluent people are blessed.

  • @happy7117 YEAH, some of us were dealt bad cards

  • He is the Rudy Ruettiger for stuttering!

  • very inspirational

  • Andrew, you know me as "Christine" from the NS forum, but I just wanted to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are truly a walking miracle. You moved me to tears during your speech, during the part about your daughter. And, if ANYTHING moves me to tears I KNOW it is worthwhile, great and amazing! once again, CONGRATS, Andrew. You're a great ro-model.

  • Great speech by Andrew. But he is using that Dr Schwartz airflow thing which proves unsuccessfull for many including me. Not all stuttering is caused by locked vocal chords.

But I guess Andrew's stuttering is!
