Red, white and gold, yeah they wanted player 2 to be Captain Marvel but prolly couldn't get the license. I wonder if there's other games like this. I remember Punisher arcade had Nick Fury as the second player, who was basically a pallet swap
It's sad to know that this was the only good Superman game in existence. You'd think by now, people would learn their lesson and learn from this game. But no; they never learned their lesson. Instead, they just keep making crappy Superman games. But its good to know that at least ONE good Superman game existed.
ive never seen this game, but it reminds me a little of a mix between Robocop and Altered Beast (except you start off powered up). then again, now that i think about it what game from that era didn't? :3
@ray90724 It's just a palette swap of the Superman sprite, but I've always told myself that it's Captain Marvel. And for that reason, I always wanted to be player two. I mean, Captain Marvel! How awesome can you get?
the ironic part about this game is that the second player contradicts the idea of "there's only one superman", which happens 6 years before the "Death of Superman" storyline.
@smorris584 well put. This game was at the batting cages. Ah the good ole days. Remember how excited you'd get when the music would begin after you pressed start :)
lol this is the only good superman game. this game was awesome! it even had 2 player co-op. dam y did all the other ones suck so much ass when this one was so good?
Also, I noticed the use of some of the familiar anime sound effects in this game. They're a little faint, but they sound so familiar because they're the kind of sound effects you'd hear in anime.
I remember seeing a Superman arcade! I haven't seen it in years, but I have to say, compared to that crappy NES game, this is the only Superman game in existence that tops them all. Oh yeah. This blows the NES version away by much!
I used to love this game so much. Its funny watching back how it would take a couple of hits to destroy a box or phone booth. It's superman, what the hell is the booth made of?
Exactly! Talented JAPANESE developers like Capcom, Taito, Konami and Sunsoft do an AWESOME job when they make videogames based off of American, Canadian, European, and Australian cartoon, movie, toy, and comic book franchises! American, Canadian, European and Australian game developers do a HORRIBLE job in doing games based off of their franchises, ESPECIALLY EA, UbiSoft, and THQ!!
Without question. Supes hasn't been given too much good treatment in the video game department, but this is indeed a fun game. I burned a lot of quarters on this bad boy.
I wish I had this arcade game too in my home. I would add a nice huge picture of Christopher Reeve as Superman on both sides of the game, like they did with T2 with Arnold on both sides on the machine!
I'm glad somebody put this back on Youtube! I LOVE this game and the music and I visulize Christopher Reeve in his old outfit from the 4 films in this game and it's like another Superman film!
wow I've never seen this game before looks fun! lol they threw in superboy.

Good game, but 2nd player should've been Supergirl.

That's the first comment with that idea. I would've preferred that too.

@acidglow supergirl would had been tight. just think if that was batman or captain marvel.

@2199 Its funny you mentioned Captain Marvel - because the "second Superman's" color scheme if almost the same as Cap's

@acidglow Maybe Marvel? Laser would be better than power punch... and the Marvel character could use Thunder

@Linklex7 or captain marvel
KamenRider30 1 year ago
@Linklex7
Actually, someone had a look at the sprite data for this game and discovered that there was originally supposed to be a 'super girl' for player 2.
Still, having a 'Superman Red' available wasn't too bad of a compromise - especially considering the earlier comics. ^_^
