Red, white and gold, yeah they wanted player 2 to be Captain Marvel but prolly couldn't get the license. I wonder if there's other games like this. I remember Punisher arcade had Nick Fury as the second player, who was basically a pallet swap

It's sad to know that this was the only good Superman game in existence. You'd think by now, people would learn their lesson and learn from this game. But no; they never learned their lesson. Instead, they just keep making crappy Superman games. But its good to know that at least ONE good Superman game existed.

@ray90724 It's just a palette swap of the Superman sprite, but I've always told myself that it's Captain Marvel. And for that reason, I always wanted to be player two. I mean, Captain Marvel! How awesome can you get?

the ironic part about this game is that the second player contradicts the idea of "there's only one superman", which happens 6 years before the "Death of Superman" storyline.

Actually, someone had a look at the sprite data for this game and discovered that there was originally supposed to be a 'super girl' for player 2.

Still, having a 'Superman Red' available wasn't too bad of a compromise - especially considering the earlier comics. ^_^

Also, I noticed the use of some of the familiar anime sound effects in this game. They're a little faint, but they sound so familiar because they're the kind of sound effects you'd hear in anime.

I remember seeing a Superman arcade! I haven't seen it in years, but I have to say, compared to that crappy NES game, this is the only Superman game in existence that tops them all. Oh yeah. This blows the NES version away by much!

Talented JAPANESE developers like Capcom, Taito, Konami and Sunsoft do an AWESOME job when they make videogames based off of American, Canadian, European, and Australian cartoon, movie, toy, and comic book franchises! American, Canadian, European and Australian game developers do a HORRIBLE job in doing games based off of their franchises, ESPECIALLY EA, UbiSoft, and THQ!!
