Since im a terrible tank, i play him as AP. It makes sense because Dazzle scales with your ap, meaning a 1:1 ratio. Imbue scales higher than your ap, making him really good at support. If you still get tanky ap items like abyssal scepter, Z's hourglass, and Rod of ages, His ult will allow him to easily survive anything.
Hey Toe, just wanted to give some pointers for Taric. If you go Chalice, Abyssal, and some other MR item, you'll be helping your team with auras as being tanky (because of his ice armor). If you need survivability, his shield is great - if you think you can get early kills, level Dazzle instead. Since it can either stun longer or do more damage depending on your distance to the enemy when you use it, it has more uses rather than giving up your armor bonus from W.
@odinnh1 HoN really isn't better. HoN has some very, very deep issues with balance. DoTa is not a game, but a mod for Warcraft 3, thus you need warcraft 3 + expansion to play it.

See how that works? There's this thing people have called opinions. While DoTA and HoN may be "better" than League, both of them have worse communities. Compare them in google trends, DOTA and HoN are dying.

I have had a Taric on my team that once that had 17 kills 2 deaths and 9 assists. We joked about how supports are the most powerful dpsers in the game.
