Acer Aspire 5520

I have an Acer Aspire 5520-5912. (Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit, AMD Turion (tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58 1.90 GHZ, 2.00 GB of RAM). What a piece of sh*t it is! I can't even play games that have high 3D graphics. Either I'll get an error message or the game loads but runs in slow motion and freezes up. The audio from the 3D games goes into a crackling sound and then the whole laptop freezes. The only games I can play are the old ones that do not require much to run.

@pedromoratalla I wanted to get an upgrade on it but I was told the whole motherboard has to be replaced in order for the upgrade to happen. Parts and labor will cost a lot too. Better to buy a whole new laptop with all the top of the line stuff. My main focus is on high speed 3D gaming compatability, this time around.

@stricera Are you sure it's not just overheating? Mine starts to act up like that (I would say about twice a year); then I have to remind myself to open it up, and dust the fan and the heatsink. After that it's always back to normal. I'll message you a link with a photo guide.

Don't buy this laptop. It's a piece of a junk. It's huge and has a terrible design. Also has many problems. The keyboard layout is terrible (they should do research like other companies to find ways how to imrpove it) and the mouse is the worst touch pad I have ever used. Luckily I don't own one of these. Buy a quality laptop like a Lenovo instead, they last a lot longer and the design is superb.

no dude youd prolly be better off just getting a new one if you want to game. i have the aspire 4530 and it can barely handle crysis at low settings. mine came with an AMD Athalon 64 X2 @ 2 - 2.4 GHz and 3 gigs of ram and an nVIDIA GeForce 9100. if acer wasnt so goddamned retarded, id put an ATI Radeon HD 2400 in it, but since i cant get to anything inside the case i am just going to buy an alienware desktop and use this only when i travel.

I have the exact same laptop acer aspire 5520 but i bought it in december of 2008 and i dont have an AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core proccesor TK-55 (1.8 GHz) i have AMD Turion 64x2 TL-58 (1.9 GHz, 2 x 512xKB L2 Cache) and the graphics card is 752 MB and it came with 2 GB DDR2 RAM when i bought it from Circuit City.

I just want to share what i just learned. Geforce 7000m is "NOT" a video card. it is a "GPU" or graphic proccessing unit. i have an acer 4520. it uses a 7000m gpu. geforce 7000m is good for artists or for picture lovers but no way is it good for gaming. in fact it is not for gaming at all. GPU's are not meant for videos. just research to learn more. just a heads up to anyone wanting to buy.

mm la compre, tiene como 751mb de memoria de nvidia pero no funsiona en guegos por q tiene mucho lag i los frame rate drops no recomiendo la 7000m tambien tengo una acer con 256mb the graphic las dos son casi igualitas.

this laptop have 2 versions the worst but the other is with Amd turion 1.9x2 and nVidia 8400 256 and read in computer 512 and get to 1014 with vista direct x 10 and 2 gb ram (1x200 upgradeable to 4gb. but i suggest to get the aspire 5920 because it is much better and no big difference in price plus it have Wireless N.
