So would you say that the 25 amp power supply is more than sufficient for that radio? Whats the continuous amp power needed for that mobile rig? 73's. N3NQP
Nice Beginner HamShack I Live in Canada and I am studying for my ham licence and seeing these beginer shacks are so nice as most videos show these expensive hamshacks nice to see a shack that anyone can afford to set up
Good luck on the general test it's not really that hard I did mine within 31 days of the tech. The Extra now that's the hard one! 73, maybe I'll hear you out therewhen I pass thru Texas, I drive an 18 wheeler around the USA. kd0iqr
i'll be testing for my license next month, looks like a nice setup. I dont know what i'm gonna do, live on the 1st floor of a brick apt bldg, guess i'll ask the guys in the local ham club for advice. Do you have a portable radio that you use? thats probably gonna be the 1st kind of radio i get.
Your video brings back that magical thrill I got using my first rig. Doesn't seem very long ago! But it was 1990 I think. for me it was a barrowed HW16 HF/CW rig and an Alinco dual band mobile. I'd love to relive those days again anew!
I passed my foundation test just two weeks ago but i have gone straight onto hf im still saving up for a vhf/uhf fm duelbander because the hf transceiver set me back £400 (the icom 703 plus qrp)I also have six with this radio ..get yourself onto hf O M I would love to have a chat with someone in the USA on hf if you have friend with a hf rig we could give it a try im usually on the phone portion of the 17 metre band best wishes 73 Adrian M6AMR United Kingdom
nice set up. bin in radio for 28 years as an swl. no interest getting a ticket, just like to listen and watch and up load to youtube. talk to a lot of peopls state side on oovooa webcam live talk site
hi thadman123 i really liked your video, nice radio by the way, i'm from P.E.I. Canada and i'm interested in getting into ham radio. did it cost you much to get set up? what kind of antenna are you using? well anyways nice video man good luck with your new ham station and hopefully i might catch ya on the airwaves someday
Looks good Kenwood's sound great! I know i have 3 of the SOB's! got a Icom which doesn't sound as good. Good luck station looks great but you gotta get HF! VHF repeater operation is boring and UHF is...well....IMHO Useless High Frequencies! HiHi Look us up on echolink OM. #336849 73. DE VO1GXG ( just encase your wondering I'm 17. )
Dude, you're awesome. I'm almost 17 and I got my license last February. I had a week off of school, the ham meeting was the Thursday before that, and some guy gave me a book (not the newest but it still passed me). My dad and I took the test at the same time so my call is KD8FJI and his is KD8FJJ. We'll have to talk on echolink sometime. I'm gonna go for my general now that the questions are new and you don't have to learn CW.
Hehe i took my general this weekend, but I failed!*twice too, ouch* :( well I didn't study so much maybe just read 10 pgs Q&A haha, oh and my dad got his ham license though hehe. So im going to re take the test tomorrow :) and if I pass, time for me to buy the extra book! :D. Nice video and equipments :) Wow, I just live 4miles away from you want to try simplex sometimes? 146.520mhz*national simplex freq*
I also like working the radio as well just sometimes to make more distant contacts that i want to make i use echolink but i'm really not on there much i usually stick to the good ol' fashioned airwaves!!
