  • I am Irish and I have to say lately I hate the image of my country that's portrayed in these type of videos and any promotional video by Tourism Ireland. It's so BORING. This old style image with old irish tunes played over it. Why can't we remake our image as more modern and hip.

  • @guitarfreakirl BECAUSE YOU DON'T FUCK WITH TRADITION.

  • Gorgeous images, and lovely composition but the song is from Scotland! "I went down to the Clyde to mourn & weep"?

We have our own tunes surely?

  • This is a scottish song. Great song.

  • And where are the "Scottish" from??? Ireland of course....the highlanders that is...

  • @saintpadraig Technically the 3 tribes that settled around there were from Germany, The Celts, Angles, and the Gaels. The Gaels did come from Ireland, but originally they were from Germany anyway.

  • Thanks for the video! Wonderful and great sound quality.

  • im interested to hear a scottish version of it, where can i find one?

  • Thank you Scotts and Irish for making a song about a black haired girl. Blonde is beautiful and it has been considered the epitomy of feminine beauty in Europe for centuries. So it's nice to hear that someone out there appreciated black hair on a woman instead of associating it's darkness with negativity or ugliness. I don't know too many people other than myself who love black hair.

  • I LOVE BLACK HAIR!!!

  • I'm really moved by the melody and the lyrics!! wish I could have somebody sing this song to me, for me...

  • beautiful pictures and song too.

It's better to watch this vid in HD .

This song with this pictures always makes me a little bit sad.

  • Alisa I love you,Andrew

  • nobody knows were the song originates from it could be scottish or Irish ... but what does it matter it is a great song, and that should be all that matters

  • Isn't the Clyde in Scotland though? That would seem to indicate a Scottish origin, at least for the song we know today...

  • good song, beautiful pictures!

  • nice..make me to cry :(...irish a briliant contry white briliant peoples and god beer(gunes)..

    best regards,

    mark

  • i love this song since i heard christy moore..

  • not sure if this is scottish, although it does mention the Clyde. Either way amazing song.

  • It's an Irish song.

  • Q: Which county is the River Clyde in??? Eh???

    A: Lanarkshire - ie Scotland!!!

  • I love this song!!!

    thanks andrew

  • Alisa I love you,Andrew

  • Such an incredible song. I once heard Niamh Parsons sing this live, but with an extra verse that goes like this:

"So fare thee well my own true love

I love you like the stars above

And if heaven or earth, or more I see

I'll ne'er treat you like you treated me"

I was amazed when I heard this. It really makes the song a sad song, and such a sad song. I'm not sure if it is an original verse. Does anyone know?

  • ** USA *** the British planned it then the IRISH built it !

  • @skyhawk2958 then they kicked them brits out...

  • nope, it's a irish song. song by and writen by Christy Moore black is the colour

  • It was first recorded by Burl Ives in 1944, the year before Christy Moore was born.

  • I moved to the USA from Ireland..I cry every time i hear and see this video- thats the ireland I remember. I miss it. Thanks for sharing.

  • hey! don't be so sad. You can alway's jump onto the plane and come back home. You know us irish peeps loves visit's from our u.s friends.

  • I'd have to say that this woman does this song total and absolute justice. This is how it should be sung, she feels the meaning - doesn't change she to he in the lyrics either. Sounds like she's got a bit of tinker in her voice too. Best version I've heard yet. Am I right or am I right?

  • you are right

  • nope, not Francis black

  • the artist is FRANCIS black......

  • nope, not mary black

  • I think it is probably Mary Black

  • i can't stop listening to this. what a beautiful rendition and stunning video, thank you

  • i got goosebumps this is beautiful

  • Please tell me who's the artist singing, she has an AMAZING voice. Magickal.

  • A very old song! And always beautiful. The video was stunning. I visited Ireland about 10 months ago. I was quite taken with the beauty of this island. I hadn't been to Europe in 20 years. Quite a change!

  • Who sung that song?

  • I wish I could meet this woman. What a wonderful voice. Beautiful pictures and baby at the end! :)

  • INCREDIBLE VIDEO, WONDERFUL VOICE!!!! Beautiful song.
