  • how to program a drum machine part 1

  • rok hard !! always loved this track , verse two could hit any chart fad

  • This had one of the sickest scratches. I loved this song. Use 2play it all the time when it first came out

  • Marley on top form, Shante on top form - top track!!

  • Just been to streetsounds uk fresh 86 reunion, gutted Roxanne wasn't there...

  • Back when treble used to hit so hard the snare made you blink! LOL.

  • excellent vid buddy

    marley marl beats.hard as hell.

so glad i was around when hip hop music like this was out

  • I know people get on here and be like "Fuck Lil' Wayne" and rappers today. You see it posted on all the old school clips and rightfully so!!!! I miss this era! This was rap and Hip Hop in its rawest form. Sad to see these bitch-made rappers claim they are the best these days, when cuts like this will crush everything out right now! I don't even like Corey Gunz...Yeah, I SAID IT!

  • @shabazz120 YOU ARE SO RIGHT WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS COREY GUNZ SAYING...

  • Used to seque this with Fatback Band I found Lovin' . Happy days :)

  • The best female rapper from back in the day and probably ever since ........

  • this is the REAL RAP MUSIC nikki needs to learn to be as good as this

  • CLASSIC CLASSIC CLASSIC

Shante was only 13, maybe just turned 14, when she dropped this......i can't believe i was like 10-11 when it dropped and knew the words verbatim, still got the 12" which i copped back then......

  • @PATHH88 Really? She was just a kid? That's mad man!

  • @robbydesigns

she was 15 when "bite this" dropped. but yes, she was just a kid. .

  • proper original stuff

  • Flows like Niagra falls, invincible microphone fiend, before Rakim even thought of it.

  • Str8 up butta!

  • always was and always will be 1 of the best,i remember breakn to this and never forgot it,top class,go on girl

  • juice crew was a great crew, and cool c could have been a great rapper too man.and i hope everybody still know that mc shan was the nr 1 rapper for a period.a real prodigy.

  • BACK WHEN THE "CODE" WAS BE ORIGINAL!

  • shante is a great rapper - unlike a lot of male rappers who are mumbling fools where u cannot decipher what the hell they are mumbling on about she is clear, precise and in tune with the music. excellent scratching by marley marl. remember this early 80s era very well - was fresh and exciting unlike the crap rap out there now.

  • Roxanne Shante was the only true MC back in the day and i couldnt get enough of her..great to hear it back again

  • she really was the shit, so was marley.

  • Shout out to Queens Bridge Projects not enough credit was giving to all the artists that came outta there.. but they did have the hip hop airways on LOCK at one time! ...TRUTH!

  • the best female mc,nuff said

  • The Bollox..end of...

  • real shit!!!

  • Shante was quality specially for someone so young marley marl was and still is one of the greatest djs ever to spin the deks a true pioneer and innovator RESPECT man!!!

  • Matter of fact it was her black goose

  • BEST FEMALE RAPPER OF HER TIME-NUFF SAID!!

  • @jon68ish Of all time! :D

  • DAMN SHE DISSES A LOT OF GOOD RAPPERS,, LL COOL J, RUN DMC, KURTIS BLOW. i actually love this song but the guts on that girl .

  • @nando90210 I was thinking about that too, but I guess they weren't hip hop legends at that time and they were fair game. Anyone that says that about them now will be disrespecting the pioneers of rap. Remember that was 1984 and many of these cats were pretty new on the scene.

  • @cookie1176 you're correct. at that time they were all just starting out. roxanne was just as popular as those she names in this record. "bite this" and her records before this held the number spot on all the radio hip hop countdowns. she was a rap super star and down to battle anyone, male or female.

  • man r hip hop got nu on this

  • @cheetie - Yes! He was scratching on 'REAL' turntables, not on computers like today. That was true talent!! I miss going to those jams and just standing watching the dj fuck that shit up!!

  • @NYC1927 X2...cats today dont know what its about

  • @NYC1927 u know dat, peace out!.

  • The best

  • best female rapper ever

  • The one person that disliked this was looking for 'Roxanne' by the Police. Bite this, you Sting-lovin' mofo.

  • thumbs up if 'uffie' MCs can kiss brought you here ( samples this ) Mike D remix is cool

  • @lukeshytalker02 Sparky Dee bought me here. Diggin' in the crates y'all.

  • @TroyConvers5000 i remember ' the battle' with sparky d vs the playgirls from electro 8 , that was def lol

  • mike allens army......this weeks no 1 is ROXANNE with bite this ... grt track & still the best

  • Way i see it, it is up to the artists of today to take it back to this shit, real hip hop!

I dont buy that bullshit about how hip hop's sound has changed etc etc etc, this is hip hop, soulja boy, lil wayne and all dat junk IS NOT!

I know thousands and thousands and leading onto millions would buy hip hop that sounds like this so what the hell are all the rappers waiting for!???

  • I shit you not, i grew up in L.A. in the eighties and I heard this sound in KDAY. Just blew my mind. Anybody else remember KDAY in am radio?

  • I think that's the first time I've heard that since 1988 :O Gave me goosebumps hearing it again :D

  • "talking about how there so devoted , taking my rhymes you'll swear they wrote it"

  • Thx 4 tha post, dis used ta be my SHIZ back in tha 80's...

  • BITE DIS!

  • roxanne better than all the artist out now male and female

  • marley marl the boy, shante the lass top notch

  • freshhh

  • the one and only roxanne shante. fantastic mc.

ironic how the production on this track (raw and underproduced) is what a lot of producers are trying to emulate now.

  • Come to my jam with your pad and take notes...

i gotta cut that shit for a chorus tonight!

  • raw

  • Uffie sampled this song ha

  • @JJJJJJJackk what song ?

  • @JJJJJJJackk i mean which one did uffie use the sample in ?

  • @JaybeeStarr MCs Can Kiss ( the chorus )

  • SHEEYITE BACKSPIN!

This shit is still SO dope do-pe dope!

  • Is she still about? I'm guessing she must be around 40 now. Same as me!

  • @clearviewmind She is a Psychologist now...she found a clause in her recording contract that said that they would pay for her schooling, so she took full advantage of it and became a Dr. Kudos to her!

  • @msjones74 wow! Brilliant news. Thanks for that! I'll tell my bro when he pops round for lunch later.

  • This is the type of scratching that makes ANYONE want to get behind a turntable, simple by today's (boring) standards but absolute classic and pure rhythm.

  • This was as tough as it got in 85. Full respect.

  • CHOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!! Maaaan....I feel 14 again, lol!!! Seriously though, I can't think of a dirtier joint from this period. The dirtiest cuts...the dirtiest drums...and the dirtiest...DIRTIEST MC!!! Okay.... Hip Hop On Wax, Vol 1 (from DJ Chuck Chillout) , but that's it...lol!!!

  • i fucking love this tune. got it on vinyl on an old electro album.............

  • FECKIN TOOOOON! memories. love it

  • she came to my school today...

  • harded shante beat ever recorded on wax

  • i dont no,that payback beat was off da hook.i would say its a tie lol

  • banging song

  • queen of rap
