  • why does everyone try to be super articulate when comenting? trust me, the only person interested in what you have to say is yourself. everyone else is too busy thinking about what genious statement there going to make next. (no one specific)

  • I think the ppl who go against science, ppl who try to slow down the enevitable progression of science are going against the progression of understanding, why would you want the human race to know less.

  • @MonSwon i hit the like button of your comment by accident, i guess you dont realize this, but the smarter man has become, the more destruction we have caused, the things we create are destroying this planet, and the destruction wont stop until its too late and the planet retaliates

  • Why do they want to bomb the moon in the first place?

  • Sure, the moon has beauty and wonder, but what exactly is the point of this video?

Why do you call a "kinetic impact" a "bomb?"

Why do you think NASA does not "respect" the moon?

Certainly LCROSS did not damage the moon in any way. The moon is a rock in space that has no "feelings" or "emotion." There is no life on the moon so no creature large or small was endangered. There was no "bomb" involved in this elegantly simple and inexpensive space-mission. WTF?

  • @OldSchoolSkill so im guessing this is what you mean " i see no ulterior motive to them hitting the moon and i dont plan on looking further into it to see why they are really doing it" it you meant differently, id like to know, but thats what i comprehended from what you commented

  • @romeo6117

Correct... I see no ulterior motive.

The "motives" are all scientific. "Try to verify that there is water on the moon & in what amounts?" That's all there is to it.

Finding water beyond Earth is crucial for future space exploration because it means we could harvest Hydrogen for fuel without having to carry it into space. Further, finding water on the moon or ANYWHERE else in this solar system provides profound insight into our existence. That's not "ulterior." That's awesome!

  • @OldSchoolSkill that makes sense ^_^

  • Please look at 5:29 into this film

  • I KnoW, that there is Life on the Moon, but it's on the other side of the Moon . There is water, and also a "Lunar people" , that are about 1,5m in height, and they live in a caves . There are also some kind of sheeps, some birds, insects , 3-leged jumpers/gapers , and plants / vegetables , so that they all can eat something .

    These are confidential informations .

  • Somewhere out there, the aliens are mad, very mad. Let's see what happens in 2012.

  • @soniakiwi people call people who believe in the 2012 disaster idiots, but honestly id rather be safe than sorry, which is what people who believe in god think

  • how much did your telescope cost?

  • What's the name of the background music? It's so beautiful!

  • wow, awsome scope!!!

    Great job!!!

  • To those of you who think we bombed the moon. YOU ARE RIDICULOUS. Look at what the facts are. There were absolutely NO explosives used in any way shape or form. It was simply an empty fuel tank, used to carry LCROSS into orbit, travailing at about 5,600mph, impacting a selected portion of the Lunar surface. This was done in order to create an ejecta cloud of the lunar surface for data analysis when LCROSS passes through the ejecta cloud.

  • Exactly, no worse than what causes the thousands of craters on the moon. People keep saying we launched a missle at it, ridiculous.

  • Explosives are not needed.

This object is going to impact the lunar surface at seven times the speed of sound......Big boom! Lots of destructive power, just like a BOMB!!!!

  • also, just like your common meteorite.

  • To anybody who might think that the LCROSS impactor will have any potentional effect on the moons orbit and, in turn, disrupt tidal patters here on earth, is simply ignorant. I could, with confidence, compare the impact to a grain of sand being thrown at the Umpire State Building

  • It's called the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING!!!

    Ignorant??

  • Thank you for correcting my spelling error.

    Yes, Ignorant.

  • Correction: Empire

  • If you want to protest why don't you take up a humdrum cause like animal furs, rain forests, micro biotic foods, or gay marriage because nobody gives a shit about the moon!

  • The consequences of what? Throwing some dust up into space to be analyzed? It's just the same theory of throwing a rock into a pond and watching the few lil droplets go up into the air and come back down. It's an empty capsule followed by some survey equipment. It's just a crash landing not a real bomb. Yes there are probably more expensive way to do this that will take more time and more mission to collect data and put a drill on the moon and collect samples.. or we do this.

  • "NASA are going to bomb..."

    you have failed sir

  • Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite mission NASA are going to bomb to make a cloud for the Observation and Sensing Satellite to look at. jaimfuss (1 hour ago)

  • No, they aren't. do you know the definition of bomb? it usually involves explosives. this video is propaganda basically because it's telling lies to try to get people mad for no good reason. The moon is beautiful, but an empty fuel tank won't change that one bit.

  • No one really knows the consequences of this and the moon governs things like human emotions and tidal waves on the earth this could possibly have a detrimental outcome.

  • The moon is HUGE. The probe was TINY. We've detonated actual bombs exponentially more powerful than what this little probe kicked up, with no long-term detrimental effects. Read a physics book.

Oh yeah. I'm also pagan, but I'm not stupid enough to mistake the physical moon for the actual physical body of a deity. It's symbolic. And every pagan, new age idiot that spouts off this stupidity makes all of us look like tools.

  • Man does not even respect the earth, I doubt very much they will respect the moon or any thing in space for that matter. Nice upload friend.

    Peace

  • i agree, man doesn't respect anything.. sometimes not even his/her own family, not the law, not the elderly.. etc. man is capable of a lot of crazy things. That said, reaching out to the heavens is not disrespect. Maybe once we get to the moon.. we'll start exploiting it and ruining it, but until then this is an interesting event with the prospect of exploration in mind.

  • interesting event
