as a brazilian and a citizen of the city, i really would like to be able to shut this airport but i cant. i always look for flights departing from guarulhos, the internacional airport, which is a little bit far, but located in the metropolitan area, not in the middle of the city

I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragic crash. I personally have flown all over the world many times over and I must say that the city airport in Sao Paulo is one of the scariest airports I have flown in to.. period. The runway is right smack in the middle of the city, surrounded by buildings. Like putting an airport in Central park NYC. SERIOUSLY. Look it up. Someone needs to shut this airport NOW! Brazil as a whole does not care too much about safety in general. Take a real good look at their buildings, vehicles. By US standards its a poor country, and poor countries let a lot slide when it comes to safety.

As for the plane, there was nothing wrong with it as far as I know.. It is the Congonhas airport. It has short runways and it was slippery. Anyways, may the victims rest in peace.
thanks for that but the latest inverstigations have pointed the landline of the airport as the least to be responsible for teh accident, of course maybe it should be longer and they´re thinkiing of solutions of it now, but that was NOT what caused this particular accident...
there was certainly something wrong with the plane it had one reverse plus somehow the pilot could not disacelerate.. a bunch of other planes landed safely that they and till then nothing like that had happened... anyway god bless their souls now

No, I don't believe Brazilians live in caverns, and I'm not stupid like you think, trust me, I do know that Brazil's economy has improved and it is a competitive place to do business. I've been there to do business myself, so trust me, I know. However, Brazil has many internal and socieconomic challenges, and it has some terrible cultural norms which are behind current times - such as violence, poverty, theft, child molestation, illeteracy, and unemployment. In other words, Brazil stinks!

Of course North America and Europe have more accidents to report, and that is because each continent (not country), have way more flights than Brazil. Brazil is lucky to have 3-4 flight a day, I mean, who can afford to fly in Brazil? and who the hell want to go to a bug infested country like Brazil? not much good to see there, except for poverty, wife beaters, child molesters, and tons of rapists. Actually there is no space for a runway extension, since the airport is located in Sao Paulo's downtown. It is the major City in Latin america, and there is an international airport. What happened was a number of facts, including weather, bad runway conditions and aircraft maintenance fail.

Leaving apart the possibility of a pilot´s error or an aircraft problem, fact is that the airport is there since 1936, and authorities should never allow people to build so close to it. By the way, there´s no space for extend the runway and to build escape areas.
Now they´re planning solutions... after 200 have died. That´s what I call to put a lock on a burglarized house.

I am American and I have visited Brasil. It is a very beautiful country with very nice people. Like all other countries it has some problems..just like here in America. thanks for that but the latest inverstigations have pointed the landline of the airport as the least to be responsible for teh accident, of course maybe it should be longer and they´re thinkiing of solutions of it now, but that was NOT what caused this particular accident...

there was certainly something wrong with the plane it had one reverse plus somehow the pilot could not disacelerate.. a bunch of other planes landed safely that they and till then nothing like that had happened... anyway god bless their souls now
