  • better than Beiber!

  • In Holland, the West Frisian Islands have their own language for its 1/2 million people and LILK...means angry...implying the volatility that love can invoke, and is perfectly rhymes "from cotton to SILK".

When the ONE, shy little sleepy head

Learns about love and it's LILK.

  • I saw Frankie a few years back in the broadway show Grease. After the show he came out and sang a few of his hits. It was wonderful. I couldn't get the smile off of my face. I was transported back in time and let there feeling all warm inside.

  • It was OUR time in th Sun --

    And then...

WE had Kids...and th song took on a whole NEW meaning.

    And then...

OUR Kids had THEIR OWN Kids...and Mama Mia when does it stop?

!Evolution! ... Meanwhile, Frankie's STILL singing his teenage song

And -- I am STILL listening to it...cuz I LOVED THOSE HAPPY DAYS

  • @BigIronOnHipMan2 I would live them all over if I could!

  • it's a bygone era in music, before Beatles came and before I was born.

  • great video. the reactions of the audience are incredible. if this survives, the whole show must still exist somewhere.

  • Didn't Dick Clark start hosting in 1957?

  • @bill1154 He started locally in Philadelphia in 1956 and ABC picked up the show in 1957. For all of us but the lucky ones in the Philadelphia market 1957 was the beginning.

  • Frankie is so adorable. I would have cried too if he stroked my cheek like that. The 50's really were a magical era. *sigh*

  • I sure that girl peed her pants.

  • we had this on a 78 when my sister and i were small in the early seventys and i sing it to my daughter who is seventeen

  • I have always sung it as..

when that once shy little sleepy head

learns about love and its thrills..

    makes more sense.

  • @rainydaywoman1957 I think you got it! That does make sense and playing now I can almost hear it.

Thanks for providing the missing words.

The dictionary says "lilt" is the gentle rise and fall of a voice or tune.

I've heard of the phrase "a lilting melody".

  • Ahhhhhhhh... .one of his BEST dreamy songs.........Aaahhhhh..... I would have loved to have been one of those girls in the audience!!!!!!

  • "When that once shy little sleepy head

    Learns about love and _______"

I can never make out the missing word.

    Can anyone help?

  • I think they made up the word. -

When a girl changes from bobby sox to stockings

And she starts trading her baby toys for boys

    When that once-shy little sleepyhead

Learns about love and its lilt

You can bet that the change

Is more than from cotton to silk

  • Actually, it's a sewxy song...in its way.

  • Oh John, This is Fantastic!!! I Love Frankie Avalon & the song he was singing..I can only imagine the way that girl felt when he touched her..she must have been thrilled..I know I would have ..Thanks Soo Much John...Anita
