  • soooo awesome!

any chance of getting a close-up of that guitar solo :D :D :D

  • Love all your Rush videos. Awesome job!!!!!

  • I learned this song about 10years ago... I still remember the chords and part of the solo... I just amazing song... pretty intense lyrics from Master Neil Peart. Excellent performance! I enjoyed and played along with my gently guitar!!!!! 10points to Rush and your cover...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wonderful, but can you show the accords more near....

  • You're one of the few people -besides myself- who actually plays this right....you play the D chord as a Dmaj7 chord, which is exactly what it is!

I have no idea why rock and metal musicians are so afraid of maj7th chords and are so stuck in the power chord mode!

Well, let's face it, the vast majority of metal musicians don't even know what a maj7th chord is!

  • I wish I could guitar to play this song like you!! Great job

    Ralph USA

  • Great demo!!!!! you nailed it bro!

  • this song is sooo awsome played. love it!

  • You rock like always Snow - and if I am not mistaken, you were in the Virtual Rush video?... Anywho this guy is as close to Alex as you get and I am a Keyboard player who has played Rush and other tunes for 30 years....

  • thats fake u crak head

  • @lebanesedotbboy no it's not :) you obviously can't tell a poor imitation of Alex Lifeson from the real deal... shame on you

  • ?????????

  • Just a note, at 1:21, Lifeson plays that pentatonic thing just once, the second time you hear it it's his delay.

  • Awesome! I love your clean tone! :-)

  • Gotta work on his chops a bit... but he (oddly enough but not surprisingly) nailed the lead. Alex Lifeson is one on my all-time favorite guitar players for his stylistic achievement and melody in his lead parts... I can see why people break down the leads and master them first... not bad, not bad at all.

  • how long did it take to learn this ?

  • awsome job!!!i can't quit watching!!!a+++++++

  • Thanks for posting this video. You gave me a great insight on how to play it. Great job on the solo! Keep posting as many Rush songs as you can! They are a phenomenal group!

  • It evident that you enjoy playing this song. Great job!

  • It's one of my favourite Rush songs... very powerful and yet very subtle with the changing moods... thanks for watching :)

  • that was awesome, i wanna attempt a cover at this song now, but that solo is wild! you breezed through it lol

  • great job man!!!

  • hello again. I believe a TC 1210 Spatial Expander + Stereo Chorus/Flanger is your sound for ghost of a chance, an most of your sound Yes? or No.

  • Crikey... recorded this over a year ago... I will have to see if I can dig out the tone settings... it's basically sine chorus and reverb (not sure right now what type) for the clean parts ... distortion might be harder to find.. i'll have to get back to you... since I don't play in a band I didn't keep the tones back then (I do now)...

  • I play this song with a rush cover band, interesting the overall sound you are producing. the notes travel somwhere not just die on the fretboard, as if you are in a concert hall. what is the effect you are using chorus/reverb? could be also the pick-ups. I have the song down, but the sound you are producing is curious to me, what specifically is it?

  • good job, alex is a god

  • hell yea

  • this song has to be one of Rush's most emotional songs ever. oh and what peddals are you using?

  • You cover the song so well .....I always loved this song but it never got much credit. I think the song is all about feeling. I gotta add this to my favorites, thanks for posting man and keep rockin.

  • I love Rush and have seen them several times. Your guitar has the best technical and tonal sound I have heard yet besides Rush live. Loved watching and studying it. Always thought this song was cool..had such a great sound. Thanx---

  • Snowdog can you list the chords used in the verse?

  • So-have you been playing with any bands- do you have original material you can bless us with? You are a very proficient player, one of the best on the net, we can tell you put alot of time into these.

  • Hi feliceyyz... I played in a band many years ago, late seventies early eighties, it's really good experience, you learn so much. Many thanks for your comments and for taking the time to drop by and watch. I appreciate that a lot.

  • i thought that song was so difficult but it looks easy ...

  • I LOVE the lick at 1:45, it's SO EMOTIONAL, and awesome, learning this one next, keep up the good work!

  • Beautiful take on a beautiful song... makes me want to learn the solo... now I have a visual reference! Keep rockin' dude.

  • Had to do it! You inspired me to take this one on as well... check out my video response!

  • Excuse me while I pick my jaw up from off the ground...

  • I second that. It's always a privilege, snowdog! Keep it up! :-)

  • thank you once again for showing us the technical brillance you have with an ability to teach the most innovative guitarist of all times!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like your jibberish!!! Thanks for the support and feedback

  • hey man , i forgot ... can you send me the paper of this song please ... the tab , score , whatever...i wanna play it! please..

  • Hi, I'm sorry but there are no tabs or score, I worked it out for myself, the clean parts are my own interpretations because they are so subtle on the actual track. Watch the video and you should get a good idea, tseekr did just that and produced his own version as you can see in the response above.

  • Very good. You need to add a tremolo to get the right feel.

  • thanks :-) I was still getting used to the PRS when I made this, it being the first guitar I've ever owned with a tremolo, so I wasn't confident enough to use it. It's starting to feature on my more recent videos though so bear with me.

  • beautiful playing. The leads have great feeling also. Awesome video :)

  • thanks smoky, appreciate the comment.

  • you would make a good guitar tutor

  • Awesome work bro! and a sweet PRS also. Amazing that you also used great effects. This is one of my favorite Rush tunes and I'm glad they brought it back this leg of the tour. Will be seeing them TONIGHT!

  • I'm so envious that you are seeing Rush tonight, I managed to catch them twice last year in Germany, but this wasn't part of the set at that time. Many thanks for taking the time to watch and to write some comments.

  • who is ur fav rush person?

  • Obviously I study Alex the most, watch him the most during a show. Geddy has just got better and better over the years, Neil has always been the powerhouse behind them. If I had to choose, it would be Alex, oh and of course Snowdog, the one in the song :-)

  • mine is alex TO!!!!!!! he is so underrated! it pisses me off!

  • This is another great song. Every song you pick seems to go well with your guitar :).

  • Thanks for sharing nice camera views so we can try to play ala Lerxt.

    PERU

  • jajajajjajaaaaaaaaaaaa...this song is still one of my favorites!!! tight :-))...goosebumps all over. alex would be proud !!! awsome job and a great pleasure to see it...as much as possible...yeaaaaaah. nice to be here again...in joy and graet fun. thanx so much for this snowdoguk :-)))...cya again here...hahaaaaaaaaaa

  • P.S. Nice axe too! (the Paul Reed Smith)

  • Hey, you're the man! I accidentally came upon your stuff while looking for a video of Ghost of a Chance, which has always been one of my favourite Rush songs (and Geddy's, apparently). You've really nailed the sound (on all your videos). Gave me goosebumps and brought a tear to my eye as well! I'm so impressed! Can we please have some more?

  • Thanks ever so much for dropping by and for your comments, this has always been one of my favourites too and yes of course I'm planning some more videos. Hope to see you again soon!!

  • Awesome that you have a MAC too.

  • A big "thumbs up" bro! I saw RUSH just last week and you defintely do justice to Alex with this cover!!! Rock on brother!

  • I saw them in October last year for the two gigs they did in Germany. Unfortunately this wasn't part of the set at that time. Many thanks for your nice comment, really appreciate that you took the time to write something. Rush forever :-)

  • Cool!

    I really like it.

It is awesome how you have all of the different views!

Really helps a guitarist like me!

  • It's the reason I do the different views, to share what knowledge I have with other guitarists. Also, I think it makes for better viewing all round. Many thanks for taking the time to write a few words.

  • Dude. I'm no guitar expert. However, I'm a huge Rush fan and that was tight! I thought you did an Awesome job. Thanks for posting. I'll be checking out some of your other videos..

  • Cool, many thanks for your kind words. This was a joy to make, and I get goosebumps playing it.

  • absoluty nice work and cuality, i give you Five stars see you next time

  • thank you very much for your your kind words

  • Five stars, brother! I love the dedication to making a good, educational, high quality video for those trying to learn these Rush covers.

Now, get busy on Anthem! ;)

  • It's not just educational for those watching, breaking the song into it's constituent parts makes it so much easier to learn and understand how it's put together. Really appreciate your comments. As for Anthem, I think you're the Dude for that!!! :-)

  • That's true. I've been learning bits and pieces of YYZ for several days now, and now I'm able to hook them together and do the complete song! Only problem is that on the main pentatonic licks, I can only keep up at 60% speed. I can play the stuff after the long drum roll at full speed. My fingers are killing me today...too excited to quit!

  • dude you rock, i would be thrilled if you put uip a lesson of this song.

  • Thank you :-) I really appreciate your comment. I have seen a few lesson videos and the poor teacher usually gets slammed for playing it wrong or not exactly as the original artist plays it. I included quite a few close ups of the riff and the chord at the start of the chorus (where you need to be right over the fret to get the harmonics). If you need any more specific tips feel free to ask.

  • ok will do! again that was fricking awesonme. i think a close up on the solo would be best.

  • Great Job! damn i wish i had a better recording device. My covers of rush sound like crap

  • well, it took me quite a while to get my videos to this quality and I'm still learning. With the experience gained from the last, the next one improves. Thanks for dropping by to listen and feel free to check out my other Rush covers

  • Sounds sooo good. This is not one I know (lost touch for a few albums after Grace Under Pressure) ... maybe I should have a look at those albums!

  • thanks Doc, you've missed some great tracks so yes, would be advisable to go back and have a listen, although this is probably the best from Roll the Bones.

  • Yeah!!!!!! :)

  • awesome..great tune too

  • thank you, your comment is really appreciated.

  • :-))
