Play it, love it.. such a tremendous experience to play in the strings- we did it in our school orchestra in 1979 I learned so much about the piece as I was studying it for music exams and our genius of a music teacher conducted us in the school concert especially so we could know the music better....
... BUT Don't post it !!! Just keep the memories in your head forever, don't destroy them for these great kids!!
It's hard to believe that a high school orchestra is playing Meistersinger! Good for you! While far from the perfection of the professionals, your effort is quite admirable. I salute you!
For a high school orchestra, this isn't too bad. The horn player needs some serious attention, but the strings were pretty good. There were a few issues with intonation but that's about it. The woodwinds were pretty damn good compared to some versions I've heard.
ur such a nice guy. did u even listen to it? i doubt ur a music major too, if you were, you would understand that this aint easy for a high school to play. and trust me, we were listening to each other, even if there were a few minor mistakes. u gotta chill out man, bigtime
What song? Anyway, these kids should be applauded for playing serious music rather than some of the dumbed down rubbish churned out these days. Of course it isn't anything like a pro orchestra but that's not the point, is it?
this would make Wagner want to kill someone...it makes my ears bleed, you need to master more simple works before you perform a "masterwork" like Die Meistersinger.
ok...first of all Wagner would have been turning over in his grave if he saw a high school band performing this or any of his works. Wagner was a very "stuck up" composer, he believed his works to be complete artworks (gesamtkunstwerk) if you will this is terrible it makes my ears bleed, not to be crude but you need to play and master simpler works before you work up to a masterwork like Die Meistersinger. Wagner would be ashamed.
Not bad. Nice stuff from the woodwind (early mistake by the oboe though 8^o). Strings sounded good, but with occasional untidiness in rapid passages, but this will improve with experience of playing together. Occasional problems keeping together, but this was hampered by the pedestrian pace taken by the conductor at the beginning. The horn did seem to be playing a different score at times. But overall, very good. 8^)
well.. very well done! thx
