Not a pre-code film, like the others stated. This was just a 'B' grade film which the Hays office tended to 'look over' as they didn't believe they got as much exposure as 'A' films. They let a lot more pass in 'B' films for this reason. ~ What a stunner Lucy was! Just gorgeous!
What an incredible actress! There wasn't a hint of I Love Lucy to be seen. She was definitely one of a kind and no one today compares to her comic genius and ability to take on any role.
@wattever333 Actually, that Hollywood Code came in c. 1934 ... and this film Dance, Girls Dance was 1940. But relative to later "let it all hang out" de-mystique-ization, here Lucy exudes "subtle sexuality," hinting at more.
Preciosa.

There's no mistaking the sleazy, tawdry undertone to this scene - quite a difference from the Lucille Ball of "I Love Lucy"!

I stand corrected I am surprised how very sexual code approved movie, not as restrictive as I had imagined. Thanks

@ThurstonHunger The code came in 1934, this movie came in 1940.

What's with the guy's beady eyes? Yikes! What a lascivious look. Not what I would consider a wholesome look at the past.

Those two dudes added a real 'Twin Peaks' touch to the scene. Lucy was a treat to watch though.

@AlexandraOfPella my mom used to say that people did the same stuff they did now, only with more petticaoas

@AlexandraOfPella hollywood became puritanical only after they created The Code. Look up "Motion Picture Production Code".

@JudgeJulieLit Thank you for correcting me, even though I made no mistake. I guess using a condescending tone makes you feel big.
