Wow. Symbolism really is lost on some people. The first person in the song is talking TO "Goosey Goosey Gander". It isn't a real goose, and even if it was it isn't the goose who is doing the wandering! Secondly, the "old man" is an insect, possibly a spider or a crane fly. Makes the video look rather foolish, doesn't it?

It's allegorical. It's a rhyme about the reformation during the reign of Henry VIII, when Catholics were tortured and killed for refusing to denounce Catholisism. The old man is a catholic priest hiding in a priest hole (the lady's chamber), who refuses to say his prayers in English - Catholic prayers were in Latin - so he is punished.

So basically it's teaching kids history. Not quite sure why the video has Gandhi in it though....
