  • edwin starr classic for those with the balls to play it along with makin up time classic scooterist

  • It was actually The Holidays singing behind George Clinton on "(I Just Wanna) Testify".

  • great soul tune.first heard this on a 45 i've found in 1994.great music you got here.thanks for putting a lost tune on here.

  • I am putting together a website- fluidstyle a mix of retro and modern talent-can I create a page for you and upload some of your collection with music/album pics to share with others? Giving you full credit-of course!

    Thanks for your consideration

  • Sounds like this is the song that, 'Please Let Me In' came from.

  • Very nice piece of obscure soul, thanks!

  • I helped my mom and aunt find this song on you tube and when I found it and they heard it ......The look on their faces was turely worth the search find this song!!!!

  • Thank you for this gem! Anything on Golden World and RicTic is awesome. Wonderful posting!

  • Very strange, if you do a youtube search for this you'll find another of this track by The Holidays. However, this is totally different to the other one which definitely has Edwin Starr as the lead singer, not so sure who leads on this one. Heard this many times over the years but not like this.

  • True, there is another version of this song. Sounds as if Golden World might have released it twice with different arrangements. I prefer the other one better, but all in all, this one is pretty good.

  • You're welcome. Thanks for posting this particular soul gem. A reminder that it wasn't just Motown creating a lot of Detroit's great soul sounds from the '60's.

  • Hi Will - Thanks for the post, another in my collection that I have not heard in a minute.

  • Love this record! Great Detroit soul sound from 1966 (#9 on Billboard's R&B charts). Group was composed of Edwin Starr, J. J. Barnes, and Steve Mancha.
