something chills:I was in on a 2 day long feed, me alone against a very large group of writers/activists/jounalsits..I was at pure heat battle soul crackage..this was coming down fast.. out of the blue, throw David Eugene Edwards - Straw Foot nto the feed.. BOOM! white flag waving game over.Next thing we end up strong human/social rights allies; something just hapnd. 0 explaination.never knew of him or how I ended up there and at that moment..power here.
@Robinzorz It's called a banjo actually, it just has a full wooden body. Take a look at the banjola from Goldtone, it is quite the same kind of thing.
Holy Moly; what a good version. Can`t believe I haven`t heard this until now. But, that`s also a good thing; now I have something nice in front of me. (think I have heard it seven times already)
Woven Hand came to my city the day I started the first day of a new job (night shift). I'm still debating if I made the right choice not to go. Job security or perhaps one of the best live musical experiences I would ever experience....
The beat on the base to keep time, the pull offs so it sounds like a sweep and fingerpicking the bassnotes - only two hands and it sounds like a 3 man band!
That's a shed, not a house. Too, it's in Seattle, not Colorado, where I understand he lives. Unless you were joking, in which case give me a thumbs down and I'll keep quiet.
Thats instrument is made by August Pollman, around 1880-90s, they goes for around £500..
.Look out for them on Ebay they come up here and there...Look for the pearl shaped disc on the headstock always a pointer for the right model, you can also buy a modern copy by Goldtone which is called a banjola..
such a soothing song one of my fav. 16 HP songs... but most of em are. Sweetly put together. Makes me sorrow over the fact I missed the Seattle show even more.
I can NEVER get enough of this song it is just SO good.

DEE is playing an old hybrid banjo/mandolin. made by a special luthier but i don't remember the name.

They calll it a wooden banjo or a mandoline banjo. He talks about it in the npr tinydesk concert

It´s a 5string banjo, although the body seems to be from a mandolin or something like that.
linneroth 2 years ago
I knew it was a 5string banjo of sorts but it isn't...a traditional banjo...
