  • Hey, i have a question. I've been looking for a hammond organ sound on a fantom g8, cant find it. any tips?

  • @ChuckLee775 I've had pretty good results by using the Organ 3 patch or the Trem Organ patch and then applying one of the 10 different rotary efx. I just adjust those efx to mimic the rotary cabinet and the rate of tremolo desired at the time. If you play around with it for awhile, I'm sure you'll find the exact sound you desire.

  • the worst demo I have seen in my life !

    he play too fast

    and talk too fast

    what's this man !!!

  • this guy is bad ass!

  • I often come back to watch this vid even though I've seen it plenty of times just because I love to watch/listen to you do the double arpeggios, they sound like flowing water!

  • I want to steel that keyboard from you

  • The Fantom is a awesome board! I recorded my entire all music Christmas CD (ww cdbaby com /ezrabufford) (and other online CD stores) out of the old Roland Fantom. -Had to type it that way -You internet/youtube users know the drill and can read the site lol

  • The Fantom is a awesome board! I recorded my entire all music Christmas CD (ww cdbaby com /ezrabufford) out of the old Roland Fantom.

  • Casio Privia beats them ALL

  • @Dadee3 IDK about that

  • who cares about the number of sounds?

the roland d50 only had 64 sounds, but 64 killer sounds.

  • Sick I am buying one for sure

  • sir is this keyboard had a good sounds when it comes to piano sounds

  • @mineski005

If your looking for piano sounds, yamaha motif is where you want to look.

  • @Jmlad91 If you like the sound of Yamaha's acoustic pianos. If you're more a Steinway D guy, you may like Roland better - I believe they usually sample Steinways for piano programs.

  • @seraph127 yeah rolands acoustic piano's sound awesome

  • how do you save your work on the fantom G to a WAV file?

  • @johnny102marvin re-sample inside the fantom and the sampled wave is already a WAV file

  • Seriously...the Fantom G, Motif XS, and M3 are all fantastic workstations. Why does everybody have to bicker over what is better. The sounds are in your head and these are ALL excellent tools to help you get them out. You need to have direction...a vision...you can't just rely on the presets all the time. Music is about expression, creativity...where is that when you are using someone else's sounds?

  • @baldbassguy1 While all of those boards have their plusses and minuses, I think many (if not most) people don't want to spend hours trying to figure out how to program a sound into their keyboard any more than someone wants to get the brass, hammer, and solder out to forge their own saxophone.

  • @baldbassguy1 most people can only afford 1 so i think theyre just trying to use the excuse of y they pick whatever the hell they picked , i have fantom g but seriously i wanted the motif xs but got a really good deal lol now i came to luv my fantom g , they r both amazing

  • this guy sucks at demo's ,

  • Motif XS beats the shit out of Fantom G. but my favourite is still Korg M3. that is a fucking awesome workstation

  • @stormvit

How does the Motif XS beat the shit out of the FG? Maybe with its 4 patches in the performance? Less than what you have on any 20 years old Korg or Roland. Or with the tap tempo function which the Motif still misses? 6000 arps and no tap tempo? No synchronising of your tap delays when you play live. With the fact that you have to use song or even pattern (!) mode to play more than 4 patches in a combination? Seamless switching between sounds? Boy, get a life.

  • @petara45 do i need to get a life? haha. i guess you were very bored when you wrote that. listen to the sounds of the fantom G compared to Motif XS. its not even close too the XS. and sure...all the workstations got their things that is better then the other,. but,,,,Korg M3 is still the best workstation on the market in the same priceclass.

PS: and i wont do like you and write something bad about you.,..im better then that,.

  • what this !

    he talk too fast

    and

    play sounds too fast !

    bad demo

  • HELL YEA G6 HERE AND LOVIN IT

  • this is motherfucking sick

  • this sound and looks amazing

  • THANKS

  • its better than the yamaha xs

  • no fricking way!

  • did anyone see the SSL sound board ? WOW !!!!!!!!

  • @ThePianoman1422 YES BRO!!!!!

  • @ThePianoman1422

    That's what dre uses ;)

  • I got yamaha mm, mo, xs keyboards before, now i got roland fantom g7 totaly upgraded and yamaha s910 for some fun, im playing keyboards 15 years, and for this moment the best for me is roland...

  • workstation concept is growing old. in this age of cheap computers and great DAW's.

i don't think this synth is so much of an improvement over an Fantom X

  • The fantom G is to be honest better than the fantom X, Yamaha Motif XS and ES and the korg M 3 and M50 synths. after working with various workstations as a musician, composer and studio guy, the fantom G gives extra performance and stability. I'm an oasys 88 owner and to be honest the oasys just doesn't do anything for me anymore and The fantom G works better in the studio realms for me when producing my tracks etc with the mac. at least the Fantom G doesn't have a touch screen.

  • You're talking studio wise though. But SOUND wise even the old Motif kicks this new Fantom in the sack.

  • This is a perfect example of how bad the Fantom G sounds. Buy the XS and save a bunch of money. You can then add your favorite expansion boards, which are selling for much less now, and have a better sounding personalized synth. It is almost like Roland adds way too much reverb to cover up how bad the sounds are.

  • Why play an electric guitar on a synth??? ITs such a waste of time. I hate these "well known" people who keep playing on guitars. If you want to play a guitar, then pick up a guitar! Leave synths for SYNTH sounds!

  • To an extent i agree with you, but to an extent playing around with Electric guitar sounds on synths is just way too fun ;)

  • @tekkentool Sure, I can appreciate that, but many synthesizers are lacking tools for creativity, because they cater too much for the conventional instruments (such as guitar)

  • @hedegaard8 Uh, cuz not everyone can play guitar. Why not just buy a saxophone, trumpet, and 1000 other instruments instead of playing them on your keyboard?

  • @larrybud But you need to be able to play the guitar, in order to understand how the fretting works, how notes slides e.t.c.

Synthesizers are for creativity, unlike other instruments, which are for composing/performing. But who cares really if a synth is good at making a guitar sound, it won't sound like "the real thing". Its just that a lot of synth programmers that work for these big companies seem so "bland" when they do these idiotic patches!

  • can i get that for free plz :D

  • Can you plug in a Microphone and record you singing to your music?

  • Yes

  • japanese technology at its best!

  • do the fantoms have good sounds for things like strings, brass (violin/trumpet/sax) good acoustic instruments like that :) ?

  • Sure do .. but they also have the expansion brass cards.. and others.. that I acctually think is a big BS cause why couldn't rolando put them on the boards already.. bS big time.. just to make costumers spend more..

  • @jomarcavalcanti A big plus with the ARX boards is that they have their own 128 Polyphony though.

    So Fantom G (128 poly) + 2xARX (256) = 384 polyphony in total.

I don't think the Motif can do that, can it? :)

  • Yep motif does have expansion boards also.. but the sounds on it are a way nicer already so honestly don't feel like buying.. just to note.. I have a xs6 and a g7 and most of the time just bring the g7 to gigs to use the organ sounds.. as a complement to songs.. I just don't trust too much on my fantom as I do with the motif.. I had lots of problems on the G7 locking the sistem or simply holding some played keys..don't take me wrong it's just preference some like ferraris them lamborghinis

  • I'm currently looking at the G8 and XS8. To be honest I find it hard to decide. My current board is a Tyros 2 arranger. But since i'm hanging more towards synth and piano I wanna get me something nice in that area.

Unfortunatly non of the stores around my home have the XS8 for me to try out. =/

Editing with the fantom looks nice, I don't know how this works with the motif. Looking at Bert Smorenburg I don't get any wiser about its interface :(

Could you give me a rough comparison, please?

  • I'd get the tyros 3 if you have the 2 already sell it and buy a good weighted controller but nothing is easier them tyros 3.. and most of motif xs sounds are in it also.. Look I'm suspicious to talk about fantom I really love my motif and to me it's the best option in the market... but again I'm just an user of both them.

  • @jomarcavalcanti I see, well to be honest the Tyros 2 is nice. But it isn't a great synth at all. And the Tyros 3 has again 61 keys. =/

Thanks for your input anyway. I'll see what I am going to do.

  • @jomarcavalcanti Oh and about that weighted controller thing. The only option would be an Akai MPK88. And i'm not really an Akai fan to be honest. Bad experiences so to say.

  • @LogiForce86 how about the s90 xs series.. of yamaha 88 weightesd and all yamaha top of line sounds on it..

  • @jomarcavalcanti I've had a look at it in the shop, and I like it but of course then you have to mis out on the sequencer.

The things that were suggested to me were the s90xs, motif xs8 or fantom g8.

What i'm looking for is a synth on which I can reproduce the good ol' vintage sounds of the 80's, and try to reproduce those songs. I heard the Motif can be expanded with FM syntesis capabilities.

*sigh* I guess i'll have to visit some more shops and see what I like. *scratches head*

  • actually I bought all the keyboards that I really tought would be the best ones on ebay.. and simply kept them till I found the best ones.. I simply got the best deals there I've had casio wk3800(yyyykes), korg m50 88, microkorg, r3, m3 76, oasys 88, roland fantom g7, roland juno g, rd700, hammond xb2, moog litle phatty, moog little phatty tribute (2 of them :), jp8000, eg101, yamaha tyros1, motif 1, motif xs, motif xs rack, those are some I had in just a year..

  • If only I had the room and money :P

Man, you could start a music shop. lol

I found a shop with a XS8 today though, it's really nice. And it just made my decision harder. Oh well, i'm in no rush. I think i'm going to put them side to side and see what I like best.

And i'm going to look around on ebay too, maybe i'll find a nice deal like you did :)

  • @LogiForce86 another thing to think the modulation wheel and strip under it are of greeeeeeeeeeeeeeat help.. when you're playing.. not like the dumb stick on the fantom.. like I use a lot of organ sounds and the leslie increases sooooooooooo much nicer with the motif in the other hand on fantom is tooo fast the change not as acurate.. just a tip.

  • @jomarcavalcanti I didn't know that people who design theatrical clothing paid more than the rest of us.

  • @mokkshaa I'm sorry but wtf are you talking about?! ¿¡

  • very nice keyboard but people around the world need the same piano sample as in the roland rd1000s or roland mks-20 in these nowadays keyboards aswell, or on a expansion board like what yamaha do with the dx7 in the motif

  • very nice keyboard but musician around the world need the same piano sample as in the roland rd1000s or roland mks-20 in these nowadays aswell

  • cuanto cuesta un bichaco desos?

  • Wich is better :D Fantom, M3 Xpanded ,or Motif ?( please don't say oasys becouse i don't have money for it) please help me i'm very confused..

  • Motif xs

  • Motif XS! Fantom - nice mashine, good synth, but Yamaha have realy live souns.

  • I own a Yamaha Motif XS, and it's pretty damn nice. Cheaper too. I make Hip-Hop though, I think the Fantom is more for Electronica or Trance/Techno. Some of the sounds are better on both keyboards, but the Motif is stronger on acoustic and real instruments and weaker on synths (Just by a little though)

  • motif is 'weaker' on the synths when you play the individual patches or performances...however, if you look closely, most of the volumes in play mode is set low, etc, etc...you can actually make motif sound very rich and enormous...you just have to modify the presets.

  • Man I actually didn't mean "Weaker" as in "Not powerful", i meant it more like "Not as good". You do have a point though man

  • Why did peeps give you 6 thumbs down?, i don't think what you said was bad---- really...:(

  • People be hating. lol

  • i want this machine !!!!

  • 1:34 sounds like heaven!

  • amen brother oh my god im buying this keyboard just for that sound set....

  • ...if you auditioned before me, you would find yourself not hearing argument, you would clearly hear "No", as in Not interested in hiring you, not even buying Samples from you. ...fool? No exactly. Classic and Classical Sounds!, Articulations, Multiarticulations, and Ambiences (especially marble Concert Halls, Opera Houses, Theatres, and the like (Sounds accented by the gold gilding!) with Multisplits and Multilayers.! You, and none of the others, come close to my level of production.

  • ...too fast, meaningless! ...not expressive!
