Is this Stoneman's Switch near Falmouth, VA? My great grandfather was there in Nov 1862 with the Pennsylvania 129th Regiment where he was helping to build a railroad platform.

Stoneman was a real bastard. He emptied the Provost Marshall's prisons and used them run a rape, pillage and burn spree though my neck of the woods in North Carolina. Neat finds! ;D

How is it possible to find bottles (glass) with Metal detectors?

Glass is not found with a detector. They are digging out features or huts even trash pit from that civil war. in the process of digging metal items and following the ash you find glass and other no metal items very slow and rewarding fun !! I have been blessed enough to attend a couple of these hunts and by far some of the best times I have ever had ..I STILL DREAM ABOUT HUT DIGGING
