Not bad for an amateurish attempt. It needs work. More sophisticated equipment perhaps, and better direction. Love the concept though. Their are movies and miniseries that would be great if a global scope was used. V is one. Independence Day is another. The British resistance would be interesting to watch. And seeing the mother ship over British land marks was cool (still needs a little sprucing up). All in all, not bad. I enjoyed it.
@corbinmichael123 Thanks! I have no illusions as to my abilities, although this one is a few years old & I (hope I) have moved on a bit since then, if you wouldn't mind checking out my more recent efforts?
@cedricnot Oh this was my first attempt (before I'd worked out how to use Vegas for animation purposes)- I used JASC Animation shop to do the scenes & then edited them together with Sony Vegas.
So you keep saying.... so you're saying a bunch of Scottish kilt-wearers couldn't be decapitated by a cobalt laser fired from well out of sword-fighting range then?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Not unless their infantry learned to shoot better than in the 80's... What was it, one hit out of every 7 shots? Is this where Cobra Commander got his troops??? Nice work on the vid, though!! :)
Kenneth Johnson is working on a movie theatre remake plus a sequel, in the meantime Jace Hall is filming a pilot for a TV re-imagining, so the potential for V's return is good!
If they're planning to take over the rest of the world, yes. In the series, they had former enemies like black and white South Africans and Israelis and Palestinians joining forces against. the Visitors. So maybe Irish republicans and Ulster loyalists would do the same!
well i got irish blood but i dont want the visitors to come take over britain with me in it lol,tho i do have visitor uniforms so maybe id be safe lol
Considering how the absense of Kenneth Johnson sorely affected the final series, it still has a grand follwing today. I remember when the lonnger series aired, and how disappointed I was by how the visitors no longer spoke with that cool alien modulation effect. The same footage and fx was re-used over and over. It had become a soap opera, so much so, that my mother and older sisters loved it as much as Dynasty and Dallas. Nooking forward to new series though.
Well this makes an even more different experience than the one we've seen all along, through the eyes of the LA Resistance. Certainly adds an aura of dread, heightening the sense that THEY ARE HERE.
Well done and nicely put together. It gives me pleasure to comment on a video given the KJ seal of approval.
Yep, they've released V - The Original Miniseries (great), V - The Final Battle (okay) & V - The Series (dire!) on DVD - most online shops have them aswell as high street stores.
I thought The Final Battle had some great moments, don't get me wrong, but the whole starchild-with-superpowers was a total cop-out ending & the general direction wasn't half as classy as KJ's original - it was all getting a bit "Dallas" even then - by the time the series came along (which is also up on youtube) it had major plot-holes, recycled special effects & a lot of the storylines appeared to be written for kids/soap fans. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so you be the judge!
LOL, well it's worth it for Jane Badler's ever-tighter outfits (and ever-bigger hair!) but... well, you'll see. Spot the lack of alien voices too - with no explanation!!!
Although, that would make it far more difficult for me to set any more movies up - having to obliterate the House of Commons from every Westminster image would be tricky to say the least - it's difficult enough with Canary Wharf (my 2nd video puts paid to that LOL)!
It's soooo close, it's untrue - I've just been adding extra scenes, I now just need to record in the dialogue & finalise the music/sound effects. It's going to be just over 5 minutes long so I want to get it as good as I possibly can - thanks for asking & be sure to subscribe for new postings!
Yeah, it was good fun - although the 2nd one took a week of spare time & the 3rd one (which isn't up yet) has taken a few months but in rare dribs & drabs!
One can only hope! The book's been delayed AGAIN, fingers crossed that the release goes ahead & that book sales do so well that it shows there's a market for a new miniseries!
Hehe this one was done with single-frame GIFs only - the second I took scenes frame-by-frame from the original footage & superimposed on the backgrounds. I'm learning... give me a chance LOL
Well the first one was mainly ULead Gif Animator coupled with JASC Animation Shop - I sequenced the resulting animated GIFs in Sony Vegas 4 (I've since upgraded to version 7) where I added the soundtrack. The 2nd vid was more of the same but using more of Vegas' effects (particularly the chromakey function)
That was brilliant. Sort of Terry Gilliamish, but thats not an insult by any means. Nice to know V still has its fans after 20 years. Also good to know that Kenneth Johnson has written a new novel: "V:The Second Generation", soon to be published. No doubt the mini-series will soon follow. Its so exciting.
Well that was really just me starting out - I agree with the TG comment as it is just a bunch of flat images zooming in & out & panning left to right - the 2nd one I've tried to step up a gear, still working on the 3rd....
I love it dude if for some chance do you know where i can find a trooper uniform would be awesome. There are probably not available any more and if i could find one would be very costly.
Ah - try going to yourprops . com (leave out the spaces, obviously!) - I saw helmets & weapons there so you might luck out with a shocktrooper uniform!
Very nicely done. This was the best sci-fi series during its time and still is to me. I cant wait for the Second Generation to come out would love to be an extra on it, would be a dream come true.
For this one I used ULead GIF Animator 5 in conjunction with Paint Shop Pro 7 & Animation Shop 3, as it was all put together using pretty basic moving 2D layers, but I added the sound & joined up the relevant GIFs in Vegas Video & rendered it from there...
that was truly inspiring.. I agree it was rather cool to see a visitor mothership hovering over parliament. I'm sure that V will gain a whole new level of commitment from old and new fans alike. Keep up the good work
Thanks! I'm working on another one at the moment & I'm going to attempt to be a bit more adventurous with the effects on this one (I've got some new software that I'm starting to find my way around - soooo much to learn & I'm barely scratching the surface!) - I'll let you know when it's up & see what you think. Cheers!
Don't suppose you can tell me what software it is, i'd love to get more into video editing at least that way i can have a go at makin some rather believable fan based episodes too.... Cheers mate
Thanks! I always wanted to see a mothership over British soil! LOL! Yeah I hope the Second Generation gets made - what we need to do is find a few avid fans who also happen to be lottery winners!!! I thought the final battle was better than the miniseries.
So is V the series really that bad?
and is it the third series?
If so I think they shoulda thought about not calling series 2 the final battle.
but I guess it was too late by then.
they saw the popularity of the final battle and probly though "Hey how can we milk more money from this?"

Haha yeah I just literally finished the last part of the final battle before reading your reply.
Yep the part where the hybrid girl grabs both keys and puts her star energy sparkliness into it to cancel the detonation was absolutely bogus.
Since when does mixing reptile and human dna bring about cosmic telekinetic powers?
What a loada shite!
