Huh...it looks like he makes a first run and bounces the plane off the runway a couple times to try and knock the gear loose. Funny they don't mention that in the incident reports I read. I wonder if there's better footage of it out there? If I didn't know that it came to a rest on it's wing-tip, right main-gear and nose gear, I would've sworn that the other gear collapsed while he was sliding on the runway. In any case, I'll bet that wasn't much fun for the passengers onboard!!!
@ezbinden Yeah, even if the pilots told the passengers what he was doing, it don't look like much fun, bouncing on the runway like that! Well, it would be fun if you weren't worried about the fact that it was a last ditch attempt to avoid a crash landing!
@bozz66 No, it didn't. It happened on November 17, 1991, in San Hose, Costa Rica. The plane, EI-CBL, was flying for SAHSA at the time. It was written off afterward.
*SIGH* why is it that whenever someone sees a plane, they instantly think that it's a 747? Not every plane in the world is a 747 and neither is this one. It's a 737, end of discussion.

I suppose you've all considered the fact that the 747 has 4 engines?

@horizonflyer9 An airplane's landing gear is a common and effective way to distinguish different makes and models?

I think it's 767

im pretty sure by looking at the shape of the engines that its a 737 because 737's engines aren't pefectly circular for runway clearance
