  • Actually I think this is cool, if you can control the transparency like someone mentioned. What is even better if you could close the laptop and use it like a tablet on the other side. Any thoughts?

  • "we're taking the black and knocking it out"

  • what's with this "privacy" crap goin' around? if u want privacy then don't buy transparent monitors.. that's what choices r 4..

  • omg you retard its not amoled its OLED!!!! pls correct that

  • tis doesnt seem good for laptops and tvs, but for shop windows, and billboards...thats babout it.. but still very cool tech! :)

  • soo, whats the point of this ? this screen may look cool but you lose your privacy and normal screens are much better in quality...on this screen you can barely understand what you see...

  • @rgghgfnikolas900 The level of Opacness and transparency can be controlled. This video is from more than a year ago. so when it comes out sometime late this year (I don't know if it'll reach the America market by this year, perhaps next year. Dubbed as, "Alien Year" will be granted.

  • Imagine this technology in a house window, lol, a minimalists dream.

  • ever wonder what will honeycomb os will look like on this transparent screen??? oh my!!!

  • its cool but it would become annoying...

  • @pcpokemon007 It's called futuristic , a something that utilitarian will never understand. It's linked to the human mind most subconscious desires.

  • @Fuckyousobadly it does have practical value, the transparent display doesnt have a backlight and uses ~90% less energy than a conventional display

  • ADD TOUCH TO IT , GIVES FUTURE EFFECT LIKE IN AVATAR !!!!!

  • @MrHomiegod Wouldn't that be cool. Also if you could do like an OS freeze and grab the whole operating system, store it somehow on your fingertips, touch another screen and resume play on the other screen, then you could do the screen grab and transfer feature that they had in Avatar. know what I mean?

  • @jnwpse yup but now japan is in all trouble ..donno where our future goes ?

  • Now that is amazing...

  • It is not the transpancy that is good it is that because it is organic it can bend! For uses like watches, newspaper, magazines and lots more crazy stuff

  • what about an AMOLED touchscreen phone? wow o.O

  • this is completely useless.. If you're sitting outside and the sun is shining u won't be able to see anything <_<

  • lol... windows... Get it?

  • @lilman227 Prompting a new slogan... Windows, live without privacy, dark colors, or any kind of security what so ever...

  • @lilman227 Yeah Finally Windows will be windows, that concept would be awesome on my bathroom and cellphones for sure, a laptop isn't the best use... But I still love it...

  • Great idea for awesome contrast: Have a pitch black plate behind the monitor. Normal black will be super black. Nobody wants a transparent screen. We want to see black, too.

  • These will be great as windows.

  • Pretty cool, they could put this tech on helmets, and eye wear.

  • This would be awesome on motorcycle helmets, especially in Asia where most people scurry around in scooters. Speedometer on the Hud, maybe have a toggable virtual rear-mirror on the HUD as well

  • When this is released, I'm buying one.

  • @TokyoNerd but i dont understand why they want to take the black out? is it to make the contrast ratio better? wouldent you have to redefine the definition of contrast ratio?

  • @thecrum69

For one, it's most futuristic and high-tech looking. Also, the way computers are going now, eventually computer monitors will just be pieces of glass connected to a stand, not much else. It just evolution of computers, each generation changes, and this will be part of the next.

  • @TokyoNerd its good to know but i personally dont like it very much, i would find it to be a distraction haha. i also think it takes away from the stunning pictures they are now able to produce anywhere from tv's to an itouch and everything in between, but without the black color i dont know how impressive i think it is... i suppose for now i will have to settle with my tv as my computer monitor

  • @thecrum69

I know, this one isn't the greatest monitor. This is only one of the first produced. Later on they'll refine it and it'll work better. Just wait, it'll improve.

  • @thecrum69 Yeah, sounds wierd. I also think it would be much better to make unique interfaces for these kinds of screens. But it's coming, just wait a year or two.

  • s possible to apply a transparent OLED screen in a vehicle wind screen?

  • Comment removed

  • not bad....want one..just cuz..

  • Well this is pretty funny thing that its transparently, usable for press-conference and so on, but I think not as needs for private using to be an PC

  • Fuck my wife!!!

  • Samsung Did it ! Sony, Apples SHUT down the company...lol

  • for those of you who dont see any use for it.... you could make a HUD duhh

  • just so most of u know, this laptop is used in the united states, saw some videos that people were using them

  • fucking crap. why would i want a more expensive and worse display? looks like shit. no real use.

  • @KimJerbo

Seriously a well thought out comment. Your imagination has soared in the possible applications for such a display. You are obviously heavily involved in marketing and have been in many business meetings and conferences! LOL

  • @grokcore Sorry I thought this was at CES where they show things for the consumers.

This however have little to none practical use. Yes I know that it cool on a car window or mirror or whatever but its really just feels like they didnt have anything else to improv so they are trying to shoehorn this into the industry.

And as a notice yes I work in advertising so I know what I'm talking about. I know when there is things that just gets produced because the companies needs to keep staff busy.

  • Well, is really cool but really useless, i would never use something like that

  • erk..can you even see it clearly if its in a broad daylight? transparent and daylight? not so cool..

  • For school paranoid schools o-o

  • WTF? If I want to watch a Snoop Dogg music video, I won't see Snoop Dogg.

  • @ShyRobot oh lol you violated.

  • Make it 40x bigger, close the lights and have fun with stripping girls (: They should make a 3D version of this thing too, I'll buy for sure

  • oled is kickass but i dont think transparent displays will be popular. traditional osx/windows OSs arent made to look good when the blacks are transparent. therefore this vis that you see on the laptop looks like shit, dont know how it will be at night but at daytime it wont look great.

  • Your mum can see that youre not doing your homework!

  • glasses + amoled concept = dragon ball!!

    awesome

  • i can see how this can be inplemented in car's windshield

n theyll start to look/feel like space ships hahahaha

  • transparent but poor resolution....no good

  • man that i want have

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!

  • Say good bye to porn privacy...

  • That would be more useful on the face of a mirror.

  • We can do it, but why for a laptop? Would just get in the way....

Now, for things you see in movies.... That would be cool, but not this. :(

  • It's like those screens you see on TV and in the movies. Maybe there's people that can use this as a middle-of-the-room whiteboard.

  • Ready for laptop's augmented reality.

  • whats the point of this?

  • That is really cool !!!
