I went to a Private Catholic school growing up, but they were always pretty laid back about religion. It was a subject you had to do, but they didn't just teach Catholism, they taught about the other denominations of Christianity and the schisms that lead to their formation. We were also taught about Judaism, Islam, etc. Most of the discussions on the bible were the teachers encouraging us to come up with our own interpretations and if someone called bullshit, there was no problem.
I had a pentecostal religion teacher in school that shamelessly proselytised to the students. Some of the stuff was pretty wild, such as alleged miracle claims from the Soviet Union, that Christians suffered no ill-effects near Chernobyl, Chinese Christians witnessing great miracles and *personal* claims of revelation.
This in the glorious Atheist paradise of the world. That's right, in Sweden! Things were different back then, but I got her into enough trouble.
Er... isn't the defining point of a PENTAgram the fact that it has FIVE points? The design within a peace sign only has four... I think the oddest thing is that your former hippie of a teacher didn't understand the difference between the numbers 4 and 5...
Also, I had DARE in Elementary School and I don't remember it for the most part. It's not just the fact that they lied about drugs (and emphasized the wrong ones), but that it wasn't even memorable beyond the shirts that's the crappy bit.
Ahh, the 80's: the end of the 'glory days" of the crazy conservative Christian movement.
I only had 1 coach for a science teacher. Since I was in advanced science in middle school and junior high, that meant that I got to skip a level in high school.
I had a biology teacher in high school that was a creationist. She still taught evolution, but prefaced it with "I don't actually believe this, but I will still teach it"
Too many kids don't listen in the class because they get distracted just by regular windows and other non-magical portals, so I kinda understand his anger
PS Nice video post. It's a shame you don't do these more often because I love them.

Having a teacher that isn't trained in science teach science is a good way of getting kids to not care about science. Way to go!
Yeah, your hippie teacher was a loon. And I am a theist.
