I've got 7 albums framed on my wall, actual frames behind glass, these 7albums are the only albums I went out an bought, I'm only 16, so they aren't original except 1 from my brother which was illmatic, anyhow, the 7 albums are "Illmatic", "The Calm Before the Storm," "Graduation" Paid In Full," "The 18th Letter," "Food and Liquor," with a spot reserved for "Cole World: The Sideline Story"
I just heard about some wack ass piece of shit named Tyler The Creator and I had to come here and listen to some REAL quality hip-hop. Shit is so awful nowadays. It's all about shock value and who can be more disgusting. Nothing will be as great as "illmatic" was. Even Nas can't do it again.
@msbunnypaws u gotta research Tyler dudes really creative. Theres more to him beyond Yonkers at least check his mate Earl.... watch?v=85LWPy2IH9w&feature=related
This is why REAL hip hop is amazing, this is what hip hop is about, there is a meaning to every song. I don't like to listen to things like lil wayne or soulja boy cause there is no meaning to there music, i don't hate on them, I mean let them get paid but I like REAL music, and nas is the best hip hop artist
@DGKall2010 fuck T.H.U.G. 1 was the shit son. It was the first one where you could get off your board and bomb and shit best one :) THUG 2 was good too
@JBieberRulz Justin Bieber is shit, ur only sticking up for him cos he makes lonly girls feel wanted, this is real music unlike ur faggot trash stuff u call music

99,203 (at the time im watching it) is motherfucken bullshit. cant believe in all the people that live in the world only that many have had the pleasure of kickin back and listening to this song while that 15 year old bitch bieber gets 100mil+. i swear if i ever saw that guy id push my way through the millions of idiots who wanna see him and through his body guards entourage just to give him the back hand slap from fucken hell
@angeloCOZ i agree. im only 15 and i know what rap should be like. none of this stupid stuff people listen to now. i started listening to rap when i was 6 lol. a week ago they were playing the justin beaver shit on the stereo at our school. they had a ipod plugged into some speakers. i took that ipod out and put some real rap on. it went good till the rapper said FUCK and i got in trouble haha
@angeloCOZ LOL u funny, but i hear ya. Cats like LiL Brother, Mobb Deep, Mos Def, Talib, Common get minimal hits on youtube while mainstream BS gets all the hits
people are saing this is old schoo. no its not its real school. this is what real hiphop his. just because the homos today dont know how to rap dosnt mean this is old school . Death to crunk and autotune
yeah you right... oldschool happened about a decade before this... this might be titled as trueschool or golden era or whatever peops like to call it... none the less this is one of my favorite albums ever... lyrics and prodution so strong... nas never did this trick again...
@dinosore9 true, i love nas and all but forreal illmatic - it was written, im sorry but that aint a follow up sophomore attempt. kanye west late registration = good follow up attempt. jay-z's blueprint/american gangster, pretty great subsequent releases. but it was written, somewhat i am, and definitely nastradamus, i dont even think stillmatic was that great, sub par at best. its hard for nas to go back to his illmatic roots u cant do another album like that again
@310stanger I'm starting to think that hip hop, like drum 'n' bass, will never ever be as good (perfection perhaps?) as it was in the 90's. There was so much unbelievable creativity. The musical atmosphere was crazy.
This is not only one of the greatest hip hop songs, but arguably the greatest New York rap song ever. And I dare say that unlike "Empire State of Mind", which definitely screams New York City, "The World is Yours" BLEEDS New York City. This song is more of a NYC anthem and more legendary than "Empire State of Mind" can ever be (or should ever be). Thank you, Mr. Jones.
@shaunyd1234 i suggest not doing that, i suggest getting a line from the song, otherwise if you get the world is yours, itll look like ur some sort of mafioso scarface lover lol. i dont even think rae would do that shit man lol.
@HobbsInRoM literally most kids in my school love lil wayne. they wear lil wayne shirts and hats exc. its bull shit they dont know a real lyricist. all they care about is beats and a catchy chorus. that aint real rap. an the rappers today all they rap aboout is drugs money and women.
@MCSLYJ ---> Check Fashawn , Diamond District or Supastition! Hip Hop is ill but not dead and the virus is called lil wayne etc. and auto-tune! greets from germany.
@tjber302 Yeah, the 90s truly were the golden age of hip-hop. Nas, Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang...I could go on forever. Frankly, music IN GENERAL sucks nowadays. yea, but if you listen 2 a song called mahogany by eric b. & rakim u'll eventually find out that nas took the n.y state of mind from them, but that dusz'nt change the fact that they aren't great artists.. soo either way they all borrow 4rm thee best.
@Nutterbutterz95 hey man i can understand if u hate jay, but jay aint that bad, yeah his blueprint 3 shit is pretty whack but other than that hes a pretty good rapper. and ripping on jay for taking the name of ny state of mind, well nas kinda took the world is yours from scarface.
@shegwin hip hop has always borrowed from other genres of music. its sampling. that along with disk scratching is missing from new age hiphop. this song here heavily contains both elements. its not just good lyrics thats missing from most modern day rap
@enitsirhc10203 ? Idk what you're trying to tell me, I know about old school production. I was commenting on nutter butter on how he thought jay was a little bitch for allgedly stealing nas' song name, which in its own right is taken from a billy joel song. And for the record, it's not cd scratching( that would fuck up your cd) it's turntable scratching or just scratching.
yeah man I know, I'm just fuckin' with the NaS heads a little their so fuckin' predictable except u of course. I love NaS's and Jay-Z's music both. their both living legends, and my iPod is feel with their music. Just a harmless joke. thank you for being open minded.
This is truly the best rap album ever, by one of the best rappers there is.

Such a damn classic. Love this song more every time I hear it. If ever there was a definition of Hip-Hop, this would be apart of it big time.

Jay put out the best diss. Nas put out the best comeback.
For the record, Jay does quote in a song, "Ether made me stronger"
