Let me start by saying I am biased: I own a daily driven modifed Saab. When I saw the 9-5 in the flesh, I thought it looked great..on the outside. The interior was pretty Saab in the interior, and that was a bit disappointing for me. I thought they would have stepped up their game a bit more, especiallly at this price point. Even though I am a Saab fan, I must say that the new Volvo S60 is just as pretty a Swede, faster too and for a lot less change.

im sorry but I dont know where saab is getting their angles designing the exterior of this new 9-5 but the older 9-5 aero looks a lot better! it seems like they are not too sure in the middle of the project what to do, the tracing paper was moved slightly and by the time they realized it was 3am in the morning and did not have much time to fix the styling so they just rendered it as is and tried to make it look good before presenting it hahaha. i must say the alfa romeo 156 is still a nice car

Dutch sounds cool, and I can recognize a lot of words just with my knowledge of German. :) New Saab 9-5 Aero is awesome looking car and I especially like it for it's unusual design. The speedometer-as-altimeter is pretty cool concept! I love it! :D

I have driven the fwd but not the XWD.

The fwd was garbage at doing fast corners.

I was like all of the weight where inn the front, and there was no weigh at all in the rear.

Like OPEL could create a "European car of the year." They never managed it before SAAB got into the mix... Maybe we should let that sink it. like OPELs with turbo's and AWD, I wonder where they got that idea???

GM had a big part of this of this car if not ALL of it. Saab will be coming out with newer more efficient cars in 2012. Saab has hired ex Ferrari designer for the 9-3. Also in talks with BMW for their mini platform. I wonder who they will bring in for the 9-5??? I own a 2006 9-5 and i think this saab does look sweet but unfortunately it does not perform as well as i hoped. 0-60 in 7 seconds does not compete with the BMW 5 series or Audi A6 at all.... Saab in 2012 will be MUCH better!!

Yes, GM did do the majority of the development of this car, but it if weren't for Victor Muller and his people at Spyker, the car would have never reached production. So in that way it is in fact living proof of the takeover (not al collaboration; Saab is now Dutch-owned).

You are right in saying this car hasn't yet been influenced too much by the new ownership, but I do think this car is worthy of its SAAB-badge.

To somehow understand Slovak stand to Saab it is worthwile mentioningm that Slovaks don' t even know that there was something like Aero X and there is something like SPYKER. some basic info for reflection from SLovakia / when I was discussing SAAB last year on the net, Slovaks generally considered SAAB an outdated carmaker who deserves to go out of business for not being good enough to compete with Germans. On the other hand Slovaks bought in 2009 100% more Saabs than in 2008 / from 100 cars to some 200. In general, clearly very different signals to me. What it does signal for sure though is following - Saab has very good reputation at its fans and very low profile.

It shares engines, platforms, materials, interior pieces and lots of things with other GM cars like Opel for example. Theres nothing unique about new SAABs. Its an average car, and in no way it can be compared to BMW, Audi , Mercedes, Volvo or Lexus, which are premium cars. Saab isnt what it used to be.
