So does it means tropical areas are best place to stay? In My country Philippines we had temperatures of 38-40 degree Celsius during summer if it plunges by 10 degree our crops can still grow. Even on Monsoon and cold season in the last quarter.. Our average day time temperatures was still hovering around 20-30 degrees. Of course some exceptional cases (which happens rarely perhaps just only twice last year if I can remember) during night.. where it drops to 15-20 degrees...
@Anubayan7 I would actually assume that places adjusted to warmer climate would be effected the most. It won't effect area's like Canada and Alaska as bad, because the wildlife and environment are already adjusted to the cold! My opinion...
@Epickitkat2009 i live in england too, doesn't mean we escape anything and typically the eruption will make our weather appalling, it will screw up the gulf stream and surfer dioxide released by the eruptions will plunge northern Europe into an ice age, so its actually unlucky that we live in england :/
@Epickitkat2009 It doesn't matter if you live in englund, You would suffer even more, Cause The ash cloud from yellowstone could cover the sun's rays, making darkness fall upon the earth for days, or weeks, you dont think thats bad, well, we need the sun in order to survive. You would suffer even more then us in the United states. I live in Idaho so i would probably die withen minutes.
I too live near Yellowstone, everyone at equal latitude from Yellowstone should flee north, perhaps even into Canada. The ash cloud will blanket most of the US during the first 7 days, spreading eastward. After that ash settles, it is the GASSES from the eruption that go all the way up into the stratosphere, that remain for years and circle the globe, that block out sunlight...
2012 is just a date and number, there's no way to know when Yellowstone will really erupt. Yellowstone is why the Amish way of life is a dead end, why we can't afford Anarchy or a return to old ways of living. When yellowstone erupts it will be survival of the fittest, and only the technologically fittest will survive.
In Vitro Meat Vat grown Foods, Geothermal Energy, Waste recycling these things will be the difference between survival and extinction in a thousand year winter under a grey sky
There are, and not just on this continential plate alone. Given what is coming, and what is happening in and around the world, the number of both "hot-spots" as well as new volcanic activities both on the surface and underwater are going to increase, create new ones, and also erupt and "join" old(er) ones also. Current projections are that Yellowstone will erupt around April to May next year. Continue with your research, and studying of these facinating natural reactions! And until we talk again
Why would you even say anything like that? Yellowstone's supervolcano erupting is one of the worst things that can happen on this planet. It can kill millions of people. If you saw the movie 2012, you wouldn't have said it.
@ puncheex: you're right! A smaller eruption is far more likely. But just as the Big One will one day happen along the San Andreas-fault, a supereruption in Yellowstone (or another location->its likely we haven't even discovered them all) WILL eventually happen. The only question is whether mankind will still exist when it happens (meteors, climate change, environmental catastrophy, (nuclear) wars...). BTW, our species has barely survived the last one at Toba(Indon.)
You gotta wonder: the speak of "10,000 times an atom bomb..." while showing a frame house burning. The NYU guy is a factor of 4 off, though 2500x Mt St Helens is certainly enough. They don't mention the smaller eruptions that have happened since the 640,000 year-ago biggie, which is much more likely. They are describing the absolute worst case.
I just got back from visiting yellowstone two weeks ago. Unbelivable. It was absolutely georgous there. It was a weird feeling knowing I was standing on top of something like this and it was always in the back of my mind the whole time.
Everyone, if you don't want to suffer when it erupts, unfold an armchair inside or next to the volcano so it pulverizes or vaporizes you instantly. Stay in the USA and you will die from ash inhalation, which is always extremely painful, but pretty quick. If you're outside the USA, it's likely you will die of starvation, which is excruciating and can last a huge amount of time.
Yeah, I lived in Rapid City and then Billings for a while, used to go there all the time. I'd like to live there, until I heard this! I knew it was there but didn't think it could blow.
I ave tried to pset a video but, I have been censord. in my words, I have said this, waht have we learned from MT St Hellens. theses are the questions we need to have answered, has there been ground deformation? Has there been chagnes inthe gysers, has there been changes in gass and water chemistry? From waht I understand Yellow sone is a touchy system..if these quakes are of Unusual type as being stted, then we are in deep doodoo
The problem is not the amount of EQs they are having its the TYPE of EQs they are having. Its more complicated and thats why its an issue right now. Honestly it doesn't look good... it could be awhile, but long story short we ARE going to get hit with this eventually, its not IF but WHEN. And yet we're not making any preperations for this to happen when it runs a good risk of wiping us out. Makes me think IS a secret program existing for some to survive anything that happens (inc nuke war etc).
No, also people who are going to be evacuated by the military to go underground. They already have everything down there, food, tv, people etc.. to rebuilt mankind. Its sad how people don't know. Pretty soon the magnetic reversal on earth will trigger the yellowstone big eruption. It's going to happen, pray that it is delayed.
they had like 500 earthquakes since the last 3 weeks it usally erupes ever 600,000 years but now its been 640,000 since the last eruptions... my teacher is scaring the crap out of our grade about this a while ago they made a movie (scifi) of this but now it might actullaly happen...
why isnt this on the news stations??!!!! that lets me know its not bullshit. because they only report on bulshit that never happens and the fact that theyre not talking about a supervolcano that could wipe us all out is very disturbing.
