@deuceschinagirl are you kidding? When Mel Brooks was first starting to cast "Blazing Saddles" he met John Wayne in the cafeteria at the WB lot. Duke says "I hear your making a western where they use the F word." and Mel says "Yup, and I want you to play the Waco Kid" (cuz Brooks had originally written it for Duke to play). John Wayne said "I can't. My fans won't let me. But I'll be first in line to see it!" John Wayne was a very funny man and he shouldn't be kept down to a stereotype.
