I think very few "famous" people in this world are as down to earth and unpretentious as Neil Young seems. He has stayed true to his style of music all these years. I really don't think he was ever interested much in breaking any sales records, he just wanted to share his art.
@PlanTonto I totally agree with you. Neil Young is that rare exception who creates music for the sake of music. All you have to do is watch him perform (I was fortunate enough to see him live), and you can see how much he loves music. Staying true to himself must have caused him more than a few difficulties throughout the years but he is apparently, a man with an iron conviction. Kudo's to him for marching to his own drum.

Never really was impacted by this song until I heard it with this video, which makes you realize the beauty and genius of it. This was from a time when children called their fathers "papa," when men had to be really tough, and a good stogie was the sign of success and wealth. It was the generation of the young children here that fought and died in WW II. Funny thing is that over a half million have viewed this on YT but probably most of those in the film clip never saw it at all.

We have an old home movie from the late 50's early 60's my Dads about 5 or 6. Every time i see it i get upset , Seeing every one in a little slice of time, video quality just like this one a little sped up. I think it reminds me that life is so short .That some day will all be in a slice of time.

I think the people who tend to live longer are not so much the ones that watch what they eat and are health concious, although it helps, but it's the people who cotinue to have joy in their hearts and can find some of the most trivial things in life to be beautiful. The way this country and others treat their seniors, especially our government, is terrible. It's like ok, here's your monthly check for busting your ass all your life, hurry up and die. Terrible...

I think the people who tend to live longer are not so much the ones that watch what they eat and are health concious, although it helps, but it's the people who cotinue to have joy in their hearts and can find some of the most trivial things in life to be beautiful. The way this country and others treat their seniors, especially our government, is terrible. It's like ok, here's your monthly check for busting your ass all your life, hurry up and die. Terrible...

@bhking321 Your right. I read someone's comment in which it just stated "Only love can break your heart". My first thought was "So can Death" (break your heart). I was going to repy with that but then I came to the same conclusion you did. I lost my husband and I discovered that the greater the love, the greater the pain. I never knew I could hurt so bad and still be alive. I loved and adored him so much and miss him even more. So it's true, It's the love.
