@MattieChord They happen less often now than they once did. Look at the number of different teams who won championships in the first 20 years after the war.
Hibernian,Hearts,Aberdeen,Dundee and Kilmarnock. Also, look at the teams who won the cup in that period. Aberdeen,Motherwell,St.Mirren,Falkirk,Clyde,Hearts and Dunfermlie.
i was there (aged 13), opposite the cameras in what was called the 'Centenary Stand'. Rangers were having a poor season and this was one of the poorer results. All credit of course to Arbroath.
I think the match was screened in black and white because STV's colour cameras were at the races (Ayr ?). Also, I think the original transmission broadcast the sound noticeably out of sync with the vision.
League game, when the top division in Scotland had 18 teams and the likes of Arbroath could occasionally compete. You'll also find that East Fife beat Rangers at Ibrox that season too.
i seem to remember fletcher getting a great winner away to the hibeest in colour.id love to see that again...

In the days before money killed competition, such results happened. Now its all so predictable. Good archive stuff though, thanks for posting.

Great footage (but it seems there was also a missed penalty) and a bit of a highlight in Arbroath's fine but not exactly glorious history.
Missed the game live first time round.
