OK, now do this using 3 webcams or something normal users could afford or build.
Sometimes a "better input device" has to constrain itself, not to University lab equip, but to users' params. Methinks doing the clay model and laser scanning would be easier, but then, I've only been in 3D for 25 years.
this is definately real....they use this tech to make animation films. I totally want this crap...because clay is a hastle. Id make some sick 3d skulls with that shit.
the "hoax" comments are hilarious. if it was a hoax/fake they'd use something more space-age than a car sponge. but for this purposes it's practical and clever. I only wish the author included more information regarding this project. probably just set up this account to link the video to a website or something.
Its a sponge with a few things pasted onto it, and he is wearing rings with little things on them. The thing on teh screen could have been made in a 3D animation thing. I dont think the cameras would be able to just see what hes doing to it, what happens if u take it away and turn it around then put it back, it would be messed up.
Something like a bendable snake - for fast curve input would be good - or a mesh of snakes
I just ordered 25 kg of modelling clay
