How can I build lats doing something like the 1st exercise without a machine? Looks like the same movement as a pullup, but with hands closer together is all.
yea cuz when ever i do pull downs or even rows it seems like my right side burns more than the left im right handed .....even with push ups or anything seems my right side does all the work
When I work my back I do like 6-8 exercises 3 sets with each exercise, is there anything wrong with this as I see that people on here only do about 3-4 exercises max!
reps( repititions) are how many times you perform the range of motion to complete an excersise. and sets refer to a grouping of repititions. for example 3 sets of 8 reps means you perform 8 reps continuously and that completes a set. then you take a short rest period and do 8 more reps. thats set 2. and repeat for desired sets.
reps means how many times you would lift the weight. about 12-15 times. sets is how many times you do that. as in 3 times. example he may be saying 12-15 reps, 3 sets. so you lift 15 times, 3 times. taking breaks in between. hope that helps.
Yepp! You take a short straight bar and put it on a cabel that you pull down. Then you just bend your knees and pull the bar (with just a bit bent arms) down towards your gut, make sure that you go all the way down to really get a good pump. Then slowly back to starting position. You can alternate with leaning forward and pulling down with straight arms from in front of/above your head to your knees. I prefer the first one because you can't use your body weight as help/cheating.
Ok, i have been using some back workouts and have one side of my back thats bigger than the other. This includes the area under my armpit which has created a sort of pouch. My right side is much bigger. Theres mucle but its more wiggly than the left side. My left side is perfect. What should i do? It is noticable and i can feel it as well. The workouts iv'e been doing are the machine that is like a pec deck but your hands are fully extended, but i use that one backwards. And pulling a bar down
i have da same damn problem dude.. it feels terrible.. it sux.. if you find anything useful can you please post it here so dat i can see.. some body please give me some proper advice..
try using dumbells or single arm pulleys instead of barbells and two arm pulleys. the reason your right side is bigger than your left is that your right side is doing most of the work when doing two arm excercises. by using dumbells you will isolate each side of your body and therefore create much better symmetry
Hey guys.. So, i've this question... on my back days i do deadlifts for lower back and 2 lat exercises.. Should i consist 3 exercises for lats or stay with my 2?..
2 if fine but I would change up the exercises so your hitting diff angles of your lats, also muscle confusion is key to hypertrophy, T bar rows and horizontal pull ups really gave me growth in my upper lats.
Should you do etc this three exercises + deadlifts for your backworkout or just 2 of these and deadlifts? Coz you should to like 3 exercises tops, so yeah what do you guys think? anyone with exp?
wouldn't it be more effective if he stay still while doing the V pull down bar??instead of using the momentum by slightly moving back wards?? i always do it without moving my upper body.. only my arms..
Don't go all the way up on any lat pull. Going all the way up is a resting position and the beginning part of the pull down would be using your shoulders instead of your lats.
i dig this but when you lean back to feel the contraction, your using momemtum and if your lifting hvy then that motion is gonna help you. i still prefer to lock my body in one position to avoid that momemtum.
My chest and lats beefs up as soon as I pick up the weights, but I know it is not HARD muscle- only soft tissue which after 2 months of not exercises it all disappearing. Does anyone know how to avoid this?
I can testify to the V bar pull downs for building the lats. ive ben bodybuyilding for many years and nothing has realy made my lats grow except this exercise.
I do back and biceps on 2 different days...do you think I might be doing to much biceps/or overtraining them since most back workouts also train the biceps?
I wouldn't have thought so if you are targeting one area specifically. Although it will depend on your excercises. Most back excercises work the triceps much more than the biceps.
no i do not think that this will overtrain your biceps, many people i know are doing this on the same day and i am one of them, maybe it will be hard on the couple of days but after regulary training its just routine
The reverse grip certainly uses your biceps, but overtraining them?
Depends on how they feel. Generally I go for soreness feeling the next day to gauge how I've worked the muscles. If you've worked your lats but your biceps also feel sore the next day, then maybe you need to change things if you intend to work the biceps another time.
You can do a couple things if you think you may be overtraining - you can put a day in between your back and bicep workouts or you can change up your workout to have a push day and a pull day - push day will work chest, shoulders, and triceps - pull day will work back and biceps - I do forearm training at the end of my pull day. Hope this helps
I probably dont know as much about working out as you but wouldnt it be better to do back and biceps on the same day? I mean if you work out your back and get it tired then your biceps do all the work after that instead of both.
no you will be ok, i train my back on its own, and train my biceps with my chest. but i train my chest and biceps on a monday and train my back on a thursday so theres time to recover from my major biceps workout.
the rep stands 4 repetition a single pushup for instance, da set is simply a set of reps, ex:you some times may be able 2 do 80 reps in 1 set of pushups..
I've been using your website for the longest and thats how I earned my size in strength which people admire alot. So thanks to you, I have a nicely toned body and strength. I do have a question...At the end when you were doing reverse pull down, would that work the same muscle the same way as doing it regular? Because I've done reverse pull downs before and I feel it in my biceps. But is there any difference for the major muscle?
pull ups are the greatest workout ever in the world. if you play sport it keeps your back safe and it developes real strength in your lower back too you cant beat them they are the greatest...
This video focuses on strength building so workouts should be more spread out over the week. A good rule of thumb is if you focus on endurance you can/should do workouts more often but for strength building it's less often.

Let's sat you do push ups. If you do 12 push-ups, that is 12 reps, and 1 set done.
Then do one more, and you have done 2 sets with 12 repetitions.

I like this guys Vids, nice and simple
done by muscle group work outs.
and its easy to tell this guy has built his arms/body with no steroids unlike so many other ***s
with there instruction tapes and books who cheat there way to being big making it pointless listing to what they have to say.
ps Do you think military press works your lats enough if you don't have a pull up bar?
or is there no replacment other then the lat pull down that I do Not have at home.
samaird 3 years ago
military wouldnt work as well, as it is a push exercise.which will work you shoulders.
e.g you push the bar up.
and this is lat "pull downs".
i suggest making a pull up bar.
that is one of the best back work outs you can do.
