  • wow imagine flying or driving or using this as like a computer interface you could just drraw you controller and personalize it and then interface w the pc etc

  • wow

  • you can do this on virtual dj with a standard usb webcam, its definately fake. this setup seems like a waste of time

  • HAHA! That's funny. Good vid

  • fake!

  • I also want to know the name of the track :D

  • what is the name of the track? :)

  • Am I the only one who notices that his other hand is occupied by a camera ¬-¬

  • you ever thought he's not alone ?

  • I rarely bother to comment nowadays but i gotta defend the guy. I cant say 100% if HE is actually doing it, but i 100% know this kind of thing can be done. On virtual dj there is a webcam option and if you point it at the paper and draw some ref points (i.e a circle) you can control the deck like this. If i could be bothered i would post a vid of me doing it. But check it out online, its no big secret.

  • again.. he's using a sheet of paper laid on top of a stanton dascratch unit.. no magic webcam control, and definately no lag! lol

  • The future is a comin'

  • this isnt proof of anything, we have to see what your whole body is doing dude, you could be controlling a mouse with the other hand, or somebody else could be controlling it. do a vid showing ur whole body, not just ur hand on the paper.

  • He has a wirless mouse plugged in and is controlling traktor off screen with his other hand obviously. That's why when he presses the buttons its sometimes slightly out of time witht he effect.

  • Really, I thought it's because processing time results in lag.

  • no you mong he's got a sheet of paper on top of a stanton dascratch touch controller...

  • try REACTIVISION :D

  • I know how he did it. Traktor has two different record functions. One that records the final mix and the other that you can record all knob, fader, and button presses. If you look/listen closely you can see the delay from his movements. Way to go Manilli Vanilli. LOL! Good conversation piece.

  • This is great, I don't understand how anyone can badmouth it. Seeing that shit would drive a dancefloor insane.

  • i can do that big woop.. Looks like youve just used your video camera as a usb webcam and then used the webcam function in virtual dj.. Proof of the software your using would be nice but for now im asuming your using virtual DJ with a different skin

  • what he's done is use a stanton dascratch under the page and hooked it up with traktor. What a tricky fox he is.

  • Keysnetwork is right about virtual dj (i accidentaly found out about it last night and been grinning ever since.) Dunno what the deal is with traktor so cant comment.

  • the screen definitely has a traktor mixer console at least in the center. traktor pro looks different now tho.

  • Obrigado!

  • no way man. this is some kind of joke...

  • Camera/sightbased controlling via surface contact? Excellent!

  • wicked, what midi controler or pad is under the paper lol

  • i think its summin to do with the other camera like a motion sensor

  • Where to find that traktor thing??

  • maybe try scratching on a turntable. maybe it'll sound a little bit better... nice though

  • wank

  • I read people say this is VirtualDJ. Now that I have expanded the shape library and added new controls I can show new (more) functions.

    STAY TUNED...

  • wow

  • FaKe

  • ehh 3 stars

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!

  • LOL! I did not think so many comments about the bottle. It was a long day and we were celebrating.

Right now we are keeping part of the system secret because it a little different from traditional motion capture approach. But now that the process is proven, we can start looking at different ways to use it.

Of course, camera brand doesn't matter. It was my personal camera so I use it.

  • So the camera tracks your movement? Do you need a SOny camera, or can I use my JVC camera? Do you have to draw circles to make it work, or could you draw something like a oval or triangle?

    I want to know

  • Hi, this ist interesting! Publish the technical details, please!! I'd like to know, how it works and I'd like to rebuild it - or buy the device from you!!

    Regards,

    Julito

  • madness! i want!

  • Cool!!! A bottle of Velho Barreiro! Evil DJ!! That's my favorite cachaça!

  • I'd rather use wax

  • Dude, what about that bottle, lol, I know what is this, it's typical from Brazil.

    hahahaha, nice!!

  • Awesome work, keep going at it, it looks like it has a lot of potential.

  • this is too old and useless,,

virtual DJ had this option on around 2 years ago which you could connect your WEBCAM and scratch like this, but because it was useless for many mobile djs, they took it off!!!

  • It had the ability to lay out your own interface and knew when you were contacting surface or not. I don't think so.

  • Yes, data is being turned around into MIDI for Traktor. There is a library of basic shapes it will recognise. Size is also taken into consideration. Shapes send 2 kind of data, either CC or note. Hehe release date is not yet. Right now I am just figuring out how to implement and writing shape library. But it is expensive to make many without a big company.

  • Hey man will this possibly work with dj mix station or ejay mixstation as it is more commonly known? when's the release date? I just added you also.

  • Excellent, Cant work out the interface with traktor and the camera. I understand how to create ttouch interfaces using contrast, and how traktor/serato works, are you using MIDI events?

  • That's dope. I tried drawing this on a peice of paper and the shit didn't work. Do I need a different pen?

  • Yes, the latency is a little of both. There is some, but that is because I'm using the onboard sound (set 75ms for smoothing playback). The control itself is quite responsive.

I had trouble with the contrast with my hand and the desktop, so I put the poster paper there to increase. The sheet on top is so marker doesn't leak through to my only poster paper :)

  • WHere do I get on of those pens?

  • didn't know you had to join to make a comment. Everything looks good so far, but I'm concerned about the latency. Is that real, or is it a product of the video encoding? Also, what's the deal with the paper?

In all, I'm encouraged. Looks very promising.
