  • The best bass cover I´ve ever seen. Congratulations, it´s just as how you tell on the description: intense, fast and aggressive, I love this theme.

  • @aggressor25

    Thank you very much.

  • I've been playing bass for over 25yrs and being Canadian I have played alot of Rush..WOW

Dude you are awesome..you missed your true calling

  • @pottsmokker

    Thanks a lot.

  • @2112TDK

Thank you very much and I'm glad that you and your bass have been reunited.

  • Best cover I've seen so far. Every note it its place... guess I'll watch your other covers to learn a bit.

  • @aestrellagabilondo

    Thank you.

  • It's one of most complex bass line I ever seen by Geddy Lee! Play it and Sing.. mother of God! hhahaha.. great job Troy, I don't tired to see your videos and learn with every note! hahaha

  • @felipeoriani

    Thank you very much.

  • Great Job!

  • @aerospacejtc

    Thanks.

  • It's a shame Rush was disappointed with how this album turned out. Signals is one of my favorites.

    Once again, great job.

  • @tasdau

    Thanks.

  • @TJH3113

That is killer!!.......I played in a cover band in the 80's and we tried to play this..........I could never do the bass part justice, but you stick it!!! Well done!!

  • @rsgsrg2125

    Thank you.

  • @MrTank2112

    Thanks.

  • That song is a progressive nightmare. But I think you're the best cover of this song. You are Sir, a golden God.

  • @menswear2112

    Geez, thanks.

  • What strings did Geddy use on his Rick? And what pickup did he use?

  • @kidgloves2

I believe he's always used Rotosound Strings and stock pick-ups.

  • PS: Beautiful Ric, too!!! They have such a distinct tone....I wish Geddy would use it more often!

  • @laney50w

    Me too.

  • One of my favorite RUSH tunes, and what an EXCELLENT JOB! ROCK ON!!!

  • @laney50w

    Thank you.

  • I love that Rick XD

  • @Simonzivoj

    Cool.

  • Amazing performance. You should do those covers with one of those masks on. Maybe you'd even be invited to replace the Slipknot bass player :P

  • @libernull

Thanks. Most of the masks are "display copies" and can't be worn. The ones that can be worn would not be comfortable to wear while playing.

  • Fanatastic! Amazing! I admire how well you control your slides into and out of notes, just like Ged.

  • @3ccc33

    Thanks.

  • DUDE......................WHY are you NOT in a "Rush" COVER-BAND?? LOL. Your playing is reminiscent of the GREAT "Ged"-meister!!

  • @menom7

They're a tough act to cover. Just doing a song or two can be problematic. The drumming is one thing but the vocals are the real killer. I am working on my own collaboration that I'll be posting pretty soon that should be pretty cool. Thanks.

  • @TJH3113 Cool,I look forward to seeing that!!

  • I really appreciate your videos! As a massive Rush fan myself I played the 6 string guitar for years learning Alex's licks, but now play mostly classical. My Church needed a bass player so I stepped up to play bass to help out, and naturally I became interested in learning some of Rush's bass lines. Digital Man and Analog Kid are great.. Thanks!!

  • @ClassicalRay

Thank you very much for the kind words. I really appreciate it.

  • great job!

  • @spacemunsta

    Thanks.

  • Very inspirational. Good job.

  • @straightener

    Thank you.

  • you have some obvious talent. how about trying some more underground stuff?

  • @ibuiltthewall

    Thanks. What sort of stuff?

  • Impressive. I think the one-eyed dude behing you is your #1 fan!

  • @braincrisp1

Which one? There are two "one-eyed" dudes.

  • Superb.

  • @17primemover

    Thank you.

  • No you didn't, I was kidding, there's nothing new i can add to fabulous well done etc. . .

  • @floouk

    Thanks.

  • Didn't you miss a G# at 1:56 *smirk*

  • @floouk

    Anything is possible.

  • Who are you and what planet did you come from. I see your covers of Rush songs all over the place and I am waiting for you to mess up (like I do) and it never happens. You are truly an amazing player and I tip my Fender Jazz Deluxe to you.

  • @sgullott

Regrettably I'm all too human and make plenty of mistakes, I just try not to post them. Thank you for the compliment.

  • Bastard of a song to play! My fingers get all knotted when I try it!

  • @shauntbarry

Yes, it is a tough one but at least you get to rest u during the chorus'.

  • You are my new bass guru! I'm playing bass, singing & noodling around on synths in a newly-formed Rush tribute band on Staten Island (NYC). I'm one of a select few that can nail Ged's vocals! I USED to think my bass playing was OK till I found you on youtube! But, hey...we live, we learn!

  • @SteamDriven3

Thanks again. You should be happy that you're able to multitask on keys and vocals, I'm a one trick pony myself. And the fact that you can nail the vocals make you worth your weight in gold as that is where most RUSH tributes fail.

  • God damn, hadn't noticed the complexity of this song until I started playing it... Kudos, as always! Still waiting on that Dog Years cover.. =)

  • @coosomo

Yes it's a tough one. Thanks.

I wouldn't count on Dog Years, I just learned Test For Echo and that took me a while.

  • Great Job !

Scary looking audience you have there !

  • @ferks60

    Thanks. They're harmless.

  • That looks really really hard.

  • @VirtualDynamite

It is one of the tougher ones, for me at least.

  • Again man, great job I hope upload some Signals drum covers later on, have you seen any of my Rush drum covers?

  • @JustyStoky

Thanks again and, no, I haven't seen your covers but will surely take a look.

  • pretty good... check Geddy singing + playing keyboard with his feet... amazing, don't you think. very talented RUSH and your playing is awesome! nice sound!

  • @skorpio2112

I agree, Geddy Lee is an incredible talent. Thank you.

  • wow light strings i couldnt use those nice vid

  • @ExtraBassist

    Why not?

  • @TJH3113

it feels like i bend too much but then again I've played for only 3yrs and i dont change my set-up often.

  • I've viewed many if not most of your Rush covers and have to say Geddy would be proud. I'm not a player but have been a Rush fan for 30 years, and have always tried picturing how Geddy does what he does. You make it look effortless. Thanks for taking the time to post all these clips. You are a great talent! Kudos to you.

  • @texasrox65

Thank you very much for your kind compliment. RUSH and their music have meant a great deal to me throughout my life and if that comes across at all in my playing then I'm proud. Thanks again.

  • what strings do you use on this bass?

  • @cowchip75

These were Curt Mangens or something like that, med-lights. I was given a box of them for Christmas a couple of years ago and just used the last set. I'm not sure how they rate compared with other strings. I just replaced them with GHS Boomers, light gauge.

  • Again ... excellent work !

  • @biotonk

    Thank you.

  • Great cover! I noticed you removed the saddle over the bridge pick up. Did that cause any problems like with feedback or hun or anything?

  • @Bair2112

Thank you. No, it didn't affect the sound at all. I believe the main purpose of that "saddle" is so, when using a pick, you have someplace to rest/support your hand. Much the same as old Precision and Jazz basses used to come with saddles over their pick-ups. When your playing finger-style it just tends to get in the way.

  • You're a very good bass player. I do some of the same songs but you seem to have them more down pat than I do. I wish I still had my Rick. I sold it awhile back but I think I might look for another one. They have such a nice crisp sound. Anyways, keep up the good bass playing

  • @Imakecents Thank you. Believe me when I say, "I have a lot of time invested in these songs." I've regrettably gotten rid of a few Ricks in my day, having foolishly sold or traded them for one bass or another. They're pretty hard to come by these days and I think they cost way too much. I paid $425 for my first one brand new.

  • How the hell can Geddy remember the lyrics and then sing them over the top of this???? Unbelieveable !!!! Great cover, thanks for posting !!!!!!

  • @cultfan187 Your guess is as good as mine. Thanks.

  • Good Job!

  • @pollaris18 Thank you.

  • just a tip... I think u should turn up ur guitar just a tad

  • I enjoy watching your videos!!!! nice sound and song!!! you are a master!!

  • @duilkin Thanks but I'll have to check with my wife on the "master" thing.

  • @TJH3113 I checked and she said "NO".

  • This is my favorite song off of Signals! You played it very well! I subscribed

  • @monstermike2009 Thanks. Glad you liked it.

  • Great playing Man.Thats a nice Rich. what model is that? 4001???

  • @timdoog42 It's a 4003. And thank you.

  • very nice, check out my drum cover of same song.

  • @vicvandale Play it by all means.

  • That is just so sweet!

  • That is just so sweet!

  • Another kick ass job. I love when the keyboards come in the first time, looks like it gave you a chance to catch your breath :)

Great playing during the solo starting at 3:29

Truly love the look and sound of your Ricky.

One of my favs from Signals.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

  • @constantine2112 Thanks and you're exactly right about the catching my breath part, this song is particularly tiring for me for the following reasons - it's hard, it's fast, I have pretty small hands, it's played low on the neck and I don't use my pinky very well (it just doesn't cooperate with the finger next door).

  • Awesome job, one of my favorite songs by Rush. And holy crap, the masks. What a sweet collection.

  • @Rivers256 Thank you. And as for the masks, to me, they're works of art. You should see my basement.

  • Very good job. Highly technical and proficient.

  • @JBoutot Thank you, largely the result of an isolated, reclusive adolescence.

  • hell yeaaaah! :-)

  • @Nivtop2112 Thanks.
