@dehoyos79 mine is # 3 of only 4 produced, it is a total custom one off, he no longer makes these due to the time and expense of the construction, you can however get one thru lee garver at GMW guitars for around 2500-3000 dollars or you can get one thru sandoval guitars as well from 3000-10,000 dollars
@CoolStrat62 randy was about being yourself not copying something note for note. i took the signature licks then improvised my own around them. and if you noticed that video is 3 years old...to here what i sound like now playing the song please see the video of kevins student and guitars and stuff.
taylor can you find me on facebook and add me and i will get you my phone # for the lessons or see me in 2 weeks at school (next week is fall break and you are off. ok
Hey Kevin. Belated thanks, unbeknownst to you, you turned me on to RR back in '83 when you would visit Mr Spanky's class.I hung in every word then, You were in "Wartorn" at the time I think?
I respect what you've did here alot; however I can only imagine the amount of haters you've heard from. Ive had a couple main influences in my studies, and both of those instructors stressed the importance of improvisation. They would be impressed, rock on brother.
in the 2 + years this video and all my others have been up there have only been 2 people talk crap about me and my playing. thats not a bad average, i dont do this to say hey look at me look how good i am. i did these vids here as a tribute to my fallen hero randy rhoads, what i really do in my music career is original christian rock and i have a praise and worship band and i teach guitar to 60 + students per week here in indiana, thanks for watching and the comments.
i just wanted to ask you do you have any tips for me to really learn some great randy solos and how much practice does it take to learn like the song song crazy train
my advice is to learn as much as you can. start by teaching beginners out of a regular method book and start small 1 or 2 students and move up when you feel comfortable with it. i started teaching in 1980 and i have been full time with over 57 students now for about 3 years. it rocks its the best job i have ever had.
thanks alot for the comments. i have alot of students into the shred stuff so yea i gotta keep up with alot of it. i am pretty good at sweeping and arpeggios and stuff. but not where i want to be yet at all.
thanks.. i just might but i like the fullness of the whole chord, barre chords are not hard for me i have been playing guitar for 40 years and teaching for 28 years
yea, 40 years of it you don't need an easy way to play it, u can do it anyways without any trouble, i started about a year ago, got into alot of shredding and stuff, so if i can play almost all of Randy's songs with only a year, imagine 40 years lol, u really need to post a video of ur best shredding you can do, it would be awesome
I noticed you play the Dm open position when others usually stick to the 5th fret. Sounds cool. Also, you run into the second solo with tapping, which reminds me of the very first tabs of Crowley that I learnt with.
would that have been star licks randy rhoads back in 1982 or 83?? cuz thats where i first got it and it just stuck with me cuz i am really proficent at tapping. i know its not the "correct way" but all the notes are the same.
I couldn't say for sure but the dates fit all right. I think that the booklet name had to do with something-licks but I can't be sure (I was just a beginner in English). I definitely remember a greenish cover page.
That's funny. As I was then beginning with the guitar, I got quite frustrated with tapping I couldn't manage. Thus I figured out by myself the "correct way"... which I did not manage for a while neither...
oh thats cool. hey since u played with randy u must no all his guitar tricks. how do you do that string pulling part in the solo for over the mountain i no the notes but i dont no how to do that string pulling thing
i didnt get to play for him but i do know how he did it. take your right hand and put it behind your left about five frets below where you are playing and just tug up on the string and thats it
awsome job man killer solo and i love the thing u do at 46 till 51 awsome way to start the song im in the process of learning this song my self the solo is way to hard
thanks.. here is a secret... that little lick is really just a volume level check to make sure my guitar signal is not overpowering the backing track!! but thanks alot!! glad ya liked it
no tips to speak of i played alot of key licks then added my own style there to give it a touch of me. i never was much of a note for note dude i always like to give a song some of me. and randy told me in 82 not to copy him but be original, add my own stuff to it. so i try to honor him that way. so i'll pass that tip on to you add your own little flavor to the song. keep the ket focus points but add yourself to the mix in places
yes we met in detroit michigan feb 8th 1982 i got to interview him and field questions from a small gallery of people in a meet and greet Q&A session of radio contest winners
it was great. as i was leaving he told me if i was ever in burbank to look him up. he gave me the # of his mothers school in north hollywood. well he was killed 47 days or so later. i was crushed. anyway when i moved to L.A. a couple years later i called the # and met the rest of the familiy and we spent the day talking about randy who he was what he was like. it was great. i miss him greatly
no i didnt just then but kelle's band rhoads did open for me in 1985 at the country club in reseda, so i did play with a rhoads family member on the same bill once
Sweet I like Zakk but sometimes he gets annoying with the pinched harmonics I mean every song almost I CANT TAKE IT, anyway he could still whoop my ass any day but I mean he goes a little overboard.
it was built for me by mike ripley the owner of jackal guitars... it is serial #3 ...i let him prctice on 2 others before making mine....the differeances between randys sandoval and mine are that i have a floyd rose and my fretboard is ebony not rosewood and i have 22 frets he had 21. and i have a double action truss rod in the neck and he had no truss rod
man, i can not belive how good is this!!! well fuckin done!!!!!!! great job, and try to play zakk tribute on this song(2002 budokan) any way 6 stars from me:D!
are u talkin about the boss noise suppressor because i bought one the ns 2 noise suppressor and it didnt help what so ever i dont get it plz write back
great job and sick guitar i want one of those so badly i saw one on ebay the real sandavol version but it was like 5,000 grand so yeah oh yeah u have that amp pretty loud how arent u getting feedback i have 68 les paul and it gives feedback like crazy if i pit my halfstck louder than 2 on the knob plz right back

wow mike you get rid of dial up finally so you can see your guitars in action...you should see some of the concert stuff we have shot this year. i just cant figure out how to edit it down to 10 min segments!!!
thanks to everyone..but really i do the song alot better everyday than what i do right there on the video..but its ok i guess...thanks alot for the cool comments
thats a good version of the song, i just like it a lot...loads of hammer on and pull off gives to it a shredding feeling, its just cool man, 5 stars and good job :D do u have the tab of it? i have been practicing it but i cant match with the solo

i make a great living off of teaching guitar.

You're one of my favorite Youtube players, and I'd like you ask you some questions since I read that you've been teaching guitar for many years.
My dream is to work with music and I thought teaching music would be a great idea!
Do I need a special exam to become a guitar teacher and can I make a living out of it?
I'm still just 16 years old and need to study for another 3 years before I can eventually start to study music at a musicschool though.
