I heard it about 15 years ago. I knew some Chicagoans that were"connected". The story goes:The elusive"Max Headroom" owed a friend some money from some bad bets and this friend had just gotten fired from the Tribune. To make good on the bets gone wrong,said friend overheard"Max"joking about pirating the signal. The friend told"Max"that if he could pull it off and get away with it,all debts were forgiven. Rumor had it that Capone at one time paid farmers from the Illinois border to as far west as Kendall county to as far south as Kankakee county and all points inbetween to harvest pot plants. Again,take everything celebrity related with a grain of salt. Me may never know the true Max Headroom. That's a shame too...
