2. Since I was speaking of the video, and not Weird Al, "kono" is correct. Context.
3. Tottemo is a slang term (frequently in spoken, occasionally written Japanese), essentially meaning "very very" instead of just "very". In fact, the introduction of the little tsu is quite frequent to put emphasis on words.
@mallomon - I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't understand why that makes "kono" correct. (I know you're right about the "tottemo" thing, though...)
@cubs2084 He's been known to occationally sing a verse in Japanese in concert. Additionally he sang some of Eat It in Japanese durring a guest appearance on a Japanese show (which is posted in his YouTube channel, btw).
I want the lyrics at all costs! One of my friends is learning Japanese and does not particularly likes Weird Al, so I want to show her Al has made a Japanese song.
A song about giant beasts attacking humans? I'm sure the Japanese people have no interest in that. NOT!

why doesn't Al sing every song in Japanese as well? I'd enjoy that!

Is that actually Al singing in Japanese? Sounds like it's him.

@furrykef No, you're right. I was being stupid. :P
I should have said either "Kono bideo wa tottemo sugoi!" or "Kore wa tottemo sugoi!" Kono takes an adjective or noun... kore stands by itself.

@Random90sKid
tottemo is exaggerated and usually used by women. or transvestites. lol
totemo is the normal dictionary form.
both are correct.

"Weird Al" Yankovic got straight A's in high-school, graduated valedictorian at 16...I'm not surprised he knows Japanese.

@TokyoNerd I think the Permanent Record liner notes say he sung this phonetically.

Who would've ever guessed that Weird Al could speak Japanese?
ubasnaga 2 years ago 2
Suprisingly, Weird Al is actually quite popular in Japan, and has been since the Eat It days
