there is no way apple is going down by android. The iphone is still the best selling phone out there. The Nexus One and Droid running Android may have better specs, but are no match for the iphone. The 3.0 software is just perfectly tweaked and optimized to run the iphone flawlessly.I can only imagine the soon to be released 4.0 software is only going to make it better.
Apple, unlike PC makers actually cares about selling you a good product before releasing it.If there is a problem after releasing it then they are good at acknowledging it and fixing it.(Ex- Imac 27' display, aperture,Mac pro sound). That's why they held out on multitasking and flash on the iphone knowing that It would've drained the battery faster and make users upset..PC makers just want your money and sell you crap.I figure that's why My dell latitude get's two hours of battery life
nice vid, but i thought that amd already had netbook processors. Either way, i can't wait to see 6 and 12 core mac pros in the near future to firmly put them back in their place as the most powerful consumer desktops.
@4N0NYM0U557 Tried the Moto Droid the other day. Couldn't believe how bad it was compared to my iPhone. Multitasking has consequences for the battery life. On the 3gs, its not an issue because the apps load very fast so I'm not sure why apple is doing this. Its not needed on the 3gs. Perhaps its more related to the iPad than the iPhone. Its not needed on the current 3gs in my opinion.
@4N0NYM0U557 I don't know anyone that has the nexus one so I can't intelligently comment on it but I look forward to trying it out to compare. By the way, the person that owned the droid, a woman in my workplace, took it back to the store she bought it. I told her to wait until July to see what Apple comes out with in the new iPhone and then make a decision.
It was rumored that it was going to be called core i9 back about 4 months ago but in the end the i7 moniker remained. For all we know there may be a core i8 on the way in the future.
I saw some rumours of an 8 core Xeon based CPU as a step up from the 980X obviously capable of running in multi-CPU set ups and with EEC memory (which erm... makes it a Xeon I guess lol). I was always under the impression that this is the processor Apple were holding out on for the Mac Pro refresh. Imagine a 16 core Mac Pro running at 3.33GHz and 64GB of RAM? Insanity! The current models can accept 128 assuming you have the money to buy the DIMMS.
$1000 is cheap as far as top end CPU's go. When they ship a Xeon version you'll see what I mean lol. The Xeon varients support multi-socket set ups and EEC memory, which bumps up the price (many would just call them a rebadge but it's far more than that).
Great video Dave, loads of good stories in there. I personally always believe that the Adamo XPS was a limited edition machine, but i guess they never said it at the time of introduction.
The Adamo XPS was a strange machine. It still didn't even match the MacBook Air on hardware or price though, it just happened to be like 1mm thinner and had an interesting keyboard/screen layout (which from watching reviews on it is a mixed bag in terms of usability). I think Apple will manage to get even further ahead in the ultraportable market when they next refresh the Air. I wouldn't be shocked if it got a redesign and a low voltage custom i3 or something running higher like the current C2D
