  • I love this. It's reminds me rodeo with troublemade bull. I have 2 cds and dvd 2010's reedition and I think Arcadia project was better than many 1985+ Duran Duran's albums. Original and completely different than other their albums!

  • Man I wish I could turn back time.

  • Best track on the album, by an "infinate" mile. Remembered being just blown away by it when I listened to the L.P. for the first time. Even the actual title of the song, the lyrics, and the way the song ends is brilliant. For me, this song cant be faulted, its just perfect. Seriously, this album is excellent with lots of gems on it, but as I said, this is the stand out track. Whenever I used to play the album, back in the day, just before Id turn off the record player, I always played this again

  • This was really a very good album...had andy mackay of Roxy Music...Sting sang a song on back up,Very well done album

  • It is from this song that Diablo Cody took her moniker.

  • excuse me, but are these guys satanists? Or what does the lyrics mean?

  • @RKristensen25 No they're not. Listen to the song and you'll get the meaning. It's quite clear.

  • what is that 2nd picture :D

  • One of the best pop songs ever! Takes me back to being a teenager and listening to it all summer on an island in Italy!

    Thank you for uploading!

  • Love, love, love this song!!

  • El Diablo, The Flame, Keep Me in the Dark, Re-Election Day, Goodbye is Forever....damn, a good portion of "So Red the Rose" was packed with some good songs.

Particularly liked the video for "The Flame" they did. It was funny.

  • cochinada de videos.

  • I love this song, what a beautiful tune, it's captivating!!!

  • I think the Arcadia project was excellent in both the music and the videos.

  • Este tema esta basado en una chacarera, folklore argentino. this excellent theme is based on "chacarera", an argentine folk rithm and dance

  • thank you for being my saviour of youth....13 was one of the best years of my life. duran duran for life

  • The bass is really great. Who is the bass player here?

  • @vinvanveen mark egan

  • @vinvanveen

That's Mark Egan. Incredible bass player, played with Pat Metheny and Sting amongst others. Check him out!

  • @WimVW Ah, OK - thanks! I'm familiar with his stuff with Pat Metheny. Really great player.

  • Diablo Cody named herself after this!

  • Really nice song it reminds me many things...

  • Nick Rhodes cures Nazi Germany complications in the brain. Forgotton but not really.

  • yea fuck you you should have known better - crap I'm only halfway through the picts and this is one of my all time d two faves

  • fuck me and i thought duran duran was bad

  • @MRrem210871 Have you listened to Duran Duran's new album which went to No.1 on iTunes in fifteen countries straight away and has garnered fantastic reviews right across the board? No, didn't think so, now kindly take your childish remarks elsewhere. If you don't like Duran Duran then why have you even bothered clicking on the video? Maybe I'll go and leave comments on videos from your favourite bands, even though I suspect I don't like any of them.

  • nice video to a good song

  • TIMELESS!!!!

  • Such an underated album! Love this ...thanx for posting.

  • Nick Rhodes is great man!

  • hey, where can i download this song? I'm willing to pay for it since frggin hard to find man

  • Man---I still absolutely LOVE So Red the Rose...the whole album....CD :) whatever you youngins' call them now :) Duran Duran 4 ever <3

  • OVER THE TOP! N°1

  • Masterpiece!

  • So Red The Rose...excellence.

  • Very best song.Greatest band forever!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice song...............

  • This album has a lot of prog elements in it. It's one of those albums you can listen to from start to finish.

  • I reckon that most bands have a time period for creative output. durans was their firts 3 albums. antyin after was catching up with what they had relesed til then. in saying that, they had some tracks now and again that 'got their' and the enrie arcadia album is on of them. oh well. winter marches on/vertigo/american science/big thing/palimino/finest hour/virus/lay lady lay/come undone/ordinary world and then there is a few other stonkers on various ablums that dont make the first team.

  • One of the best.

  • @tecnolover2642 I second that

  • arcadia ,con el exito el diablo es un video de los decada de los 80' muy bueno, aunque para unos subliminal pero para mi no. oh el diablo won't you sell me back my soul? tengo la letra de esta cancion al que la quiera que me lo haga saber.

  • sucha GREAT album!

  • awesome pictures :)

  • this is a long lost gem of a song....the middle eight is inspired!

  • "El Diablo" means "the devil" in Spanish

  • It´s really a shame , why they never made a video to such a great song ! :( I was 15 back then and this song always drifted me into another dimension , where I felt so joyful and strong ;) ( Yep , silly , but helped a lot )

  • That is not silly at all. Don't ever apologize for how music makes you feel. That's what music is supposed to do. "Your feelings are your minds-eye's interpretation of the music".

  • you are so right gerontophil....such a song. Tunes like this go with you to the grave and maybe beyond....you never forget something like this, it stays in your soul.....

  • i was 14 at the time that i bought the album and still i have it.....an american copy on capitol label by the way:-)

  • el diabloooooooo

  • Mutant Romance :)

  • How do I play this on guitar? Can anyone give me the chords?

  • I love the little bit at the end, i always turn the volume up full for it

  • en los nombres del grupo te falto el guitarrista (david gilmour ) del grupo pink floyd

  • No Abel6994 Gilmour plays in "the promise" with Sting backing vocals

  • amazing flute job

  • This should be a GOOD single, The Album is awesome Just listen to the songs like The Promise, Keep Me In The Dark, Goodbye Is Forever & The Flame, I really love them.

  • SRTR- possibly LeBon & Rhodes' finest work . I love it. The whole album is class.

  • Bella canzone, insieme a "The Flame" è la mia preferita degli Arcadia.

    p.s.complimenti per il video.

  • ....you one sick fuck....

  • what about Sting's perfprmance on the previous song : The Promise

  • Great album! Eye remember it well from 8th grade. Eye thought they looked so cool on MTV.

  • Personally I would have ended with El Diablo and put Lady Ice somewhere else.

  • Have to disagree with you there, friend. I thought "Lady Ice" was the perfect end this album. Especially with the seeping, brooding long intro. I was in 6th grade or so when this album came out. And when "Lady Ice" closed the album, I turned out the lights and just sunk into my beanbag chair. Hypnotising.

But that's my opinion of course. =-) El Diablo is a masterpiece in itself . . .

  • Yeah, it just feels, to me, like the end of "El Diablo" is the end of the album. I'm always a little surprised when Lady Ice comes on. :)

  • i agree totally on the lady ice intro, its a classic and with the lights out its great

  • I agree totally with MutantRomance...the cold and dark mood of "Lady Ice" makes a perfect end, turn off the lights...and still taste the suffer. I love the ocarinas and surrounding sounds of El Diablo. I love both songs since the 1st time I heard them in 1987. In addition I love Rose Arcana back to back with The Promise.

  • by the way...what he is playing lookis like an ocarina....i have one and yest looks like a potato

  • never liked duran...this single song turned me around...a fine fine work!!!

  • SENSASIONAL

  • God this album is amazing. Every song is some of their best work.

  • It's amazing that I would see pictures of fantasy worlds like "The Dark Eye" in my mind, even without the pictures. Nice selection anyway! 5+

  • cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes the song is great.

The pictures -- although not related -- are excellent!

  • great flute and some very nice shots to go to this video! well done(on the video i mean and not the flute) lol

  • I agree--beautiful song, great record.

I always thought how haunting the line, "Oh, El Diablo, won't you sell me back soul?"

  • I believe it's an ocarina.

  • wow this is beautiful...thanks for putting beautiful art with a great song!!!!!

  • I loved this as a 10 yr old kid. My older sister who was a Durannie had the album plus the Power Station's own effort. Arcadia always sounded exactly like Duran stuff to me. Anyone remember Grace Jones's spoken vocals in 'Election Day'?

  • But I digress..

  • Wow, looks like I'm not the only D&D dork who is also a Duranie. Good Job. I have always pictuered Kitiara from dragonlance as Lady Ice.

  • Thanks great song!!!

  • This is such an awesome song....Love the flute in it. Truly an original piece of music. Thanks for posting

  • Not a flute my friend, but a peculiar instrument called a "sweet potato",and played by no other than Mr.Le Bon.He can be seen playing it also during some of the live performances in Arena.

  • what kinda genre of music is this? looks like a blend.. =)

  • Actually the flute music is very common in Columbian and Peruvian music. They are playing a lot of indigenous South American Native American melodies.

  • omg you met nick??? you lucky luckyy sob lol jk. I can't wait til I get the honor to do so.

  • I met Nick Rhodes in 2005. I got the chance to tell him that I thought So Red The Rose was a masterpiece. He thanked me, and said they had discussed playing songs from it in the future. He was very greatful.

  • Wow, I bet you were psyched. That would be so awesome if they would play these old goodies.

  • U lucky duck!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Thetwoofus02 ... cool!

  • @Thetwoofus02 -lucky you, wow! my dream is to meet them...

  • @brohmanski ...mine tooooooooo

  • @Thetwoofus02 Glad to hear it, I just bought Duran Duran tickets (my 3rd show), I hope they throw something into the set from Arcadia.

  • @Thetwoofus02: Had a similar experience when I met Simon Le Bon way back around the time they'd just released the Thank You album. I told him "thank YOU for so many years of great music.". He got up, gave me a big bear hug and said: "Wow, thanks, man, that's a great thing to say." Like them or not, those guys aren't remotely stuck up.

  • Too bad music that's mainstream now days doesn't have the same creative juices in it.

  • It's a pity they did not make MTV for this song. I desperately want to see how would they present the imagery effects since they always good at that.

  • obra de arte.

  • Great song! I love it!

  • Love this song and the slideshow was very well put together. Some amazing artwork there.

  • Duran split in 85. So Rhodes & Le Bon swan off to Paris and start wearing all black clothes and looking really moody. They bring out a real experimental european sounding album which wouldn't fit the constraints of Duran. 20 years on and I still listen to this fantastic album.

  • Your dead right. I hadn't listened to this for years tho I still have the album somewhere. I liked the contrast between Power Station and Arcadia. Ironically it was sailing past Le Bons' ex yacht Drum that prompted me to look on Utube. Fantastic and well crafted music.

  • I second that, definitely awesome. El Diablo is still so unique after 20 years.

  • Best from them. No doubt about it! Perfect track!

  • Agreed.... this is was and still is a top notch album. Just about every song is a real listener. 20 years on, still great to listen to in the car on the way home from work, suns goin down, window down. feeling cool..thinking everyone wants me, everyone wants to be like me. women look at me and melt... sorry, maybe i should wake up now... great song, great album, great band. I WAS COOL!!!!! RIGHT?

  • I had forgotten about these. Still stunning after all these years.

  • So Red The Rose is 1 of my favorite albums. To an over dramatic alternative teenager, Arcadia were a godsend. I will always be pretentious poser at heart! Seriously, this sophisticated soundtrack packs a powerful punch. The fact that I still listen to this song 20 years later speaks volumes. Lovely!

  • Wonderful - ARCADIA - Wonderful

  • i love this song !

  • I love this song so much. I think because there is not a single song in the world that is just like it. It is so very interesting, especially the end.

  • i hated this album when it came out (i wanted a more rock sound of them, but what do i know). since then one of my favorite albums and i keep going back there. NR is a genius and simon got one of the best lyrical abilities with paul simon and morissy.

    great

  • Thank You for making a lavish video to "El Diablo"...

I adore the Arcadia album, Side B in particular is stunning and so haunting.

I know this is Sim on's favourite Arcadia track as he told me, so amazing!

How about a video for Rose Arcana and Lady Ice to, hint hint.

    +Luxury and Respect to Arcaida+

  • duran duran is the best ever,i watched their concert last night,my god, they're still the best, to DURAN DURAN-THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES!!!!

  • Longtime no hear !!!Hip hoera voor youtube. Duran Duran are still welcome in Belgium. We miss you all here !!!

  • thx, tomorrow april 8, 2008 dd will be concert in my country but i cannot buy the ticket cause very expensive to me. oh my good.........

  • When I was in Turkey, I listened to this song over and over again for 10 hours while on the bus. I never got sick of it--such an interesting song...;)

  • Thanks great song!!!

  • thx arcadia

  • I have that album and its one of my favorites. It goes straight to my soul, it has that 100% Duran Duran feeling.

  • just a one off song , beautiful but with power

  • Very good song. Duran Duran is one of my favorite bands since they started. Unfortunatelly after the splitted up it was not the same... but I love the earlies Duran Duran... the first, second and third albums are great..and this song remind me the Duran Duran early songs I like it.

  • I agree with you, after A view to a Kill the feeling of Duran Duran is not present.. only a few songs... Too late Marlene, A matter of feeling... a few more..

  • I agree too. I saw them in concert when it was a trio, on the Notorious tour and they were not the same. I still screamed and everything (I was a teen then), but I wished Roger and Andy was with them!! I was a huge Durannie back in the day, and still like them, but after Seven and the Ragged Tiger, they sort of lost that "spunky-funky" sound. I played Notorious album a lot but the CDs I got later on them didn't get played as much-except the Decade and greatest hits ones.

  • love this song.

  • best song on SRTR....lyrics r majik

  • I used to play that flute sound on the keyboard..wow! I forgot all about that until now!!!!

  • Im happy to say that my So Red the Rose record is still in perfect condition. El Diablo was by far my favorite song on it because it the ending always freaked me out! good memories.

  • cool vid and i love the song.

  • That is so cool!

  • I like it, Arcadia is one of my favorite albums. Thankyou.

  • Fantastic song and good choice of pictures

  • thanks

  • Love this song!!!!

  • are u always search this song?

  • No, I already have it, but thanks.Does anyone have Secret Oktober by chance? It's very difficult to find.

  • yes it is hard to find. I have it somewhere on cassette but it is a poor copy. I wish I could find a better version!

  • Secret Oktober, along with alot more songs that did not get (enough) air play in the U.S. is on a boxed set called 'Singles 81-85' Faster than Light, Faith in this colour, etc. Very good listening. I played SRTR til poor Simon sounded warbled. Heh heh. Yeah, D2 were all hot then, and still are today. but MORE (oh so much more) than just good looks. Great talent out of them all.

  • Great, nice job!!!!!

  • thanks
