Is there a massive elephant in the room here? You've hardly mentioned 1 of THE GREATEST players ever! In the last 25 years too and currently playing. And I'm talking about one of the greatest in terms or Tests or ODIs individually or together (the real deal at the highest level of competition).
Yes, he'll get you more wickets than a certain over-rated bowler you both list, and he'll get you them at a better average and better strike rate. Yes, he'll get you many more 5-fors and 10-fors! (cont)
I guess it comes down to how many spinners you play in your side. I'd rather go for one spinner. So I'd therefore pick Warne. If you pick two spinners then sure go for Murali.
It'd be the other way round for me (and for anyone going by paper of course). No doubt about it. Murali first, and if circumstances call for 2, then Warne I suppose.
My version of the best test team of the last 25 years: 01. Virender Sehwag 02. Matthew Hayden 03. Viv Richards 04. Sachin Tendulkar 05. Brian Lara 06. Jaques Kallis 07. Adam Gilchrist 08. Shane Warne 09. Wasim Akram 10. Waqar Younis 11. Muttiah Muralitharan

His name? Muttiah Muralitharan (the greatest bowler in history by all measurable accounts - and still going!).
